Fashion AND function!!!
I bought these zip off pants mainly for summer trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe and Wilderness Area. Warm weather and entering/exiting a canoe on rocky shoreline when often it is best to step out in the shallow water and carry the canoe on shore scream for shorts. Mosquitos thick enough to suck you dry, biting flys and portages through thick foliage and vegetation that harbor ticks and poison ivy scream for long pants. Enter the convertibles. I actually owned a pair of convertible/zip off pants that I left at home on my last trip because I couldn’t bring myself to wear them, they where just too dorky. I can hear the jeers now. I know, the wilderness is not a fashion show, I guess I’m shallow. These pants look great. It’s hard to tell they have the leg zips. There ... I know, the wilderness is not a fashion show, I guess I’m shallow. These pants look great. It’s hard to tell they have the leg zips. There is a stretch panel in the crotch that runs down the inner leg for comfort when bending or climbing. My dog has shaken off next to me after a swim and the water beaded up on these and I was able to just brush it off before it soaked in. The leg zips are above the knee for me so no catching on my knee cap when bending or squatting. The fabric is lighter weight than the regular g1000 in the vida pros which helps me stay cooler even in pants mode. The length is great. Long enough to stay around the boot cuff, even when high stepping up, especially with the adjustable hem tightened and lace hook engaged but not so long that they bunch up around your ankle. The only things I could see people disliking are; 1) Depending on the size of your footwear, you may not be able to take the zipped off legs completely off without taking your boots off. 2) No back pockets (that’s a pro in my book though) 3. I’m 5’10-5’11” 170# athletic build and ordered the 48 (32-33”) regular length.... Show more

Great for hiking/other outdoor stuff
Very comfortable, well-made w/ a nice set of features. Cut/fit works well for bushwhacking/scrambling; not too loose, not too tight. Have used them in temperatures from the 40s to 60s - very comfortable within that range and would be comfortable above/below that to some extent also. A little too "techy" for me for causal wear around town (mostly due to the patchwork mix of color shades), but they're not designed for that. Would like some truly solid colors added to the mix - I have the dark gray and dark olive-dark olive versions and they both have two color patterns (albeit somewhat subtle), which I'm not a big fan of but I'm sure others like.... Great lighter weight pants
I own quite a bit of Fjallraven gear including the keb trousers and the vidda pro trousers. The Abisko Lite Trouser (ALT) is lighter than both due to the g1000 lite material. It still feels sturdy enough to handle light brush during spring and summer hikes. The thigh vents are always nice to have and I love the cargo pockets on Fjallraven pants as they’re quite easy to access despite my average arm length. My one and only gripe (small one at best) is the adjustable cuffs. The tension lock straps aren’t as easy to adjust and tuck away. I would’ve preferred the quick and easy button cuffs that are on the Keb and Vidda Pro.... Show more

Great pants
I’ve worn these pants in temps between 45-85F and couldn’t be happier. I hiked a 4,000’er at 9 miles at 55-65 . I have walked my hunting dog through terrain with everything from prickers and thorns, 5’ high bushes, and 2 knee deep water crossings at 80F. They protected me against the thorns as expected and dried w/in 10 minutes after coming out of the water. The lightweight, yet durable G-1000 fabric is everything you want. With hip to knee zippered vents, articulatedknees that even have hidden pockets to insert pads for the best low crawlers out there. Oh, and a gusseted crotch for you BSDs, too.I’ll be buying more Abisko Lites for sure!... Show more

Great pants - length a little off
I initially purchased these pants in a size 46 regular length. I wear a 31x32 in almost all pants. Upon receiving them, I was unable to hook them to my boots and sit down/have full range of motion without them tugging on my pant leg. I decided to order another pair in a size 46 long length. While these are about an inch longer than I need, the pants are long enough to comfortably hook to my boots. I prefer the overall fit of the regular length, but not being able to utilize the boot hooks was a disappointment, hence the 4 star review. I ended up going with the long size and they've worked out great, just slightly more baggy in the leg than I would prefer. If I hit an extra growth spurt in my early 30s and grow 1 more inch, they'd be perfect.I love the features on ... MoreI initially purchased these pants in a size 46 regular length. I haven't really put through a strenuous durability test yet, but the material feels very capable of handling whatever I can throw at it.... Show more

Highest quality pant
Definitely a brand name to trust. I really like the LONG size fit with the adjustable, bottom-of-pant-leg cuff. That feature makes these pants my favorite for hiking in scratchy stuff or if poison oak could be encountered. No pockets in the rear means you can sit on any comfy boulder anywhere. The thigh, zippered pockets are great to stash your stuff without limiting your mobility. These are really nice travel, hiking or exploring pants in a lightweight, durable fabric. Now I just want more selections in my size (Fjallraven 58 Long, yes I am big).... Show more

Utility pant
The patterning of the fabric is interesting and I thought it draw too much attention to my rear when wearing it around town but this is not the case. The cuffs are a little difficult to cinch when new and then hide the excess strap in the designed pocket but I managed to get it to work. There is a lace hook made of metal in the cuff and I don’t know if it will set off metal detectors at an airport (haven’t been able to travel). Sizing is true. While it seems a little baggy when I stare down at it while wearing it, in the mirror it looks quite slim fitting. The waxed fabric is a little stiff but after a couple washes softens up. I bought another pair because I liked the design.... Show more

Versatile, outdoor ready, rugged and durable
I bought these pants for hiking, hunting, and light duty fair weather ski touring. The pants are super versatile, dry quick, very durable, everything I wanted. One note, they aren't very insulated, best for cool to warm weather. I wear a base layer underneath in colder weather, even down to 5° or so, and they keep me warm. but all of my activities require physical activity. If sitting for a long stretch of time, they wouldn't hold up in bitter cold.I mostly happy with the quality and durability. Everything is double or triple stitched, I'm very hard on my gear, and these have held up great.Very happy with this purchase.... Show more

Well thought out cooler weather hiking pants.
Feels like they are built to last. The waxed G-1000 lite fabric breaks the wind and sheds water well...seems tough but is a little warm which is fine with me. The stretchy fabric sections breathes well and help with ease of motion. Many little details add up a nicely functional pant. The leg vents are long and work well. The zips on the pockets close toward the outside seam...nice for holding a knife clip AND having the pocket be closed. The stretchy mesh pocket inside the right hand cargo pocket holds a phone vertical, helping with fit and retrieval. The boot hooks work well (better with full height boots) and are out of the way when wearing shoes. The cuff adjuster is effective and the tail of the webbing can be tucked into the cuff. Something to think about...the stretch material is not found in the waistband. In all, these pants will be my go-to in cooler temps.... Show more

Worth it!
Four and a half stars, really. I'm 5'9" 162 lbs and a 32x32 in virtually any pant. I bought the 48 regular Abisko Lite and the fit is great. I originally ordered a pair of Vidda Pro in the same size, however they were uncomfortably snug in the waist (no give at all). Because of this I think they rode higher on my waist making the legs seem too short (they didn't quite touch the top of my shoe). The inseam on those was just barely 32". The inseam on the Abiskos is 31.75" but they ride lower on my hips (probably due to the stretch panel below the waist band) so the leg length is perfect for me. They fit the same as my Fjallraven Kebs. There are 8 belt loops - awesome - and an internal mesh phone holster in the right thigh pocket. Also a french fly. If you are not a ... If you are not a fan of the cinching straps at the cuff, they can be removed, a plus for me since I am sometimes wearing my pant legs tucked inside tall rubber hunting boots. With Kebs the cinching snaps dig into my ankles when I wear them tucked. They would be a perfect 5 but the side vents only unzip down, so your underwear will be exposed no matter what. Side zips should have been designed to unzip up, or both directions. Also, since these are outdoor pants I would like at least one additional pocket, like a knife or small tool pocket. The Vidda Pros are less expensive but have 7 pockets!... Show more
