Breathable, great sleeves!!

(Sorry--accidentally submitted a review about the matching trousers rather than this jacket!!!) This jacket is just as great as the matching trousers--I went for an 11 mile walk in 3 hours up and down the hills of the Peak District last week deliberately to test out whether this jacket would create moisture on the inside. Nothing of the sort happened--a really great jacket! No significant dampness if at all on the back, none inside the sleeves, brilliant! Perhaps not as windproof as some jackets, but that's hard to tell because the colder weather is only just arriving again. Plus I wasn't wearing the neck-scarf that I wore last winter--so that probably explains that. Good, warm elasticated cuffs a couple of inches up from your wrists to give plenty of room for some ... More(Sorry--accidentally submitted a review about the matching trousers rather than this jacket!!!) The trousers and the jacket are all in all the best by far for price and quality that I've come across. Who needs the expensive brands!!!

I have a small holding and I am outside most of the time in all weathers. Since I bought the jacket it has been very wet. It has been waterproof. I am clearing ground of both brambles and gorse. I have been careful but I have had no problem from any damage from these plants or from the barbed wire which they are entangled with. I normally buy a medium size but due to the advice given on the web sight, I bought a small size which was the correct decision as it fits me well and I can wear a fleece underneath it when it gets cold. The hood also works well when it is raining hard. I strongly recommend the Castle Airflex Fortex which is serving me very well and is a very good quality garment and is excellent value.

Excellent value and genuinely waterproof

A brilliant coat for the money. Totally waterproof and wind proof. We bought these looking for a rubberised coat to rival the excellent budget waterproofs we got for my 5 year old from a certain budget supermarket with German origin that sells random items alongside food! This is the closest you can get to an adult version. The cuffs on the arm are very sensible with an elasticated cuff for comfort that is overlaid by a waterproof cuff. The zip is completely overlaid by a storm flap so no water can get in there. Generous sizing. I’m usually a size 20 in high street coats and the large fits well with room for a jumper underneath. My husband is 6’4 with a 42 inch chest and the large is a good size for him too, long enough in the body and arms. Also got one for my ... MoreA brilliant coat for the money. She is a size 14 and the small gives her plenty of room. We all have the matching bib and braces waterproof trousers too and have chosen a size bigger for the trousers than the coats. There’s no padding in the coat so can be worn in warm wet weather, or with a jumper underneath in colder weather. They’re quick to dry and pack fairly small. Way preferable to cheap Mac in a pack type coats from hiking type shops which are less waterproof and less breathable.

Fort Airflex Jacket Olive / Medium
2 September 2024

Breathable waterproof jacket with plenty of room. It has deep pockets and is longer than the average anorak so it is great for a taller man. The label says it is not washable, but it looks like it would sponge down nicely.

Fort Airflex Jacket Olive / Small

I originally ordered the medium and it was too big, I literally posted it back free of charge and requested the small which arrived within days and fits perfectly -Fantastic service and good quality, it's perfect wearing when fishing as it's fully waterproof but not too stiff and heavy so it's easy to move in. Great buy.

Garden essential
9 January 2021

This is hopefully the perfect jacket for work, as a garden designer I spend a lot of time on site regardless of weather. I have bought others but they’re never 100% waterproof.I’m yet to find out if this is but reading other reviews before buying I have high hopes.I bought large so I can wear layers beneath, it feels very roomy which is also good. I also like the closed cuffs as this has been where water normally ingresses. My only gripe although due to current circumstances I wouldn’t wholly hold the seller to, the delivery was rather slow.

Good fit for many body shapes, well thought out design
30 January 2021

I was worried about this coat, I’m short, at only 5ft, with very short arms. I ordered an XS and this seems to be perfect, it doesn’t completely swamp me, I can wear with with or without a thick jumper and don’t look like I’ve borrowed my Dads coat. I was particularly concerned about the built in cuffs as some coats are so long in the sleeve that they just stick out and get wet. But the coat is very flexible and the cuffs snug enough that if I push them up my wrists, the coat just flexes to accommodate - I imagine this will be useful if i need to push up the sleeves for a messy job too. The hood also fits very well, unlike some coats which just flop over my head completely obscuring my view! Clearly a well thought out design, I’ll be buying a second one for my husband!

Great quality,Keeps you dry.

Bought the Jacket and matching trousers and bib and braces for 17 year old son whos at agricultural college and for when milking/farm work at his job at weekends. Very impressed with the quality and the fit, lightweight and welded seams are a bonus .sons 6ft 2 and slim build so we got a size medium in the jacket and pants and a large in the bib and braces , we probally could ofgot away with a medium in these to but plenty room for layers underneath. They keep him dry without finding any water droplets on the inside. They hose down clean well, and dry fairly quickly , i normally put waterproofs in the washer on a 40s without any detergent and reproof every month or so but label on these say dont machine wash so will see how they hold up to being hosed down each ... MoreBought the Jacket and matching trousers and bib and braces for 17 year old son whos at agricultural college and for when milking/farm work at his job at weekends. Like water off a duck’s back
2 March 2021

I bought this jacket to keep the rain off, and so far it has worked like a charm. It has barely rained since I got it.When it did rain a bit the jacket worked beautifully and the rain rolls off it like water off a duck’s back.I bought a Small size and the fit is generous, which I wanted, as I wear a thick fleece underneath it in cooler weather. I like the elasticated cuffs inside the sleeves and the jacket zips up and covers my neck on windy or colder days.I do warm up when I am out walking as the jacket responds to body warmth however it lets air in as well. My old jacket (bought elsewhere) is not breathable and is like a sauna in comparison.A few people have mentioned the cord at the bottom of the jacket which is quite long. I can’t foresee any time when I would need to tighten the jacket around my knees, so I just tucked the cord out of the way.The jacket does everything I expected and more, so I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

Lovely jacket but not suitable for my purpose
16 January 2020

I love the texture, the lightness and the price. It did not suit my kind of walking. It may be breathable enough for taking the dog around the block. But for moderate hiking, the heat builds inside quickly. Its design is more fashion than function. Pockets not easily accessible when you are climbing hills and need quick access. It needs many more pockets to carry one's gear in a long hike. So, buy to go down the shops, not for any serious walking. The it cannot be washed, seems insane. How can you own an 'outdoor' jacket you cannot stick in the washing machine? The customer care was top notch and 5 starts for that. Delivery quick and efficient and I would buy other stuff from this company.
