I operate a commercial paintball field and have been using these whistles for years. Blowing a regular whistle inside of a paintball mask is painfully loud. These whistles are a terrific alternative. Rain or shine, we use them all year long with few complaints. I have found them to be reliable and worth the money. We do have to replace them periodically but I feel that I get more than my moneys worth. Most issues are a result of being rained on during heavy rain or by my refs swinging by a lanyard and damaging them.All in all I am happy with the product and I highly recommend these whistles

Bought it, used it to officiate a volleyball game, week later, it’s broken. Returned it to Canadian Tire, they provided another, the new one broke the same day. It’s either the whistle wasn’t built right or it’s just bad. Other than that, the second feature is like an alarm. But the quality is not bad along with the sound quality.

Doesn't sound anything like a whistle

Nice idea during a pandemic but quality is low. Very hard to open cover to install battery. Four position switch for on/off and to change between the 3 tones is flaky. I have to coax the switch to sound the "whistle" noise by holding the button and moving the switch. Sometimes if finds the tone but more often the device only makes the other 2 buzzer sounds. That's not too interesting to a field ref. Returned first purchase but the replacement had the same issue.

Fox40 3 tone electronic whistle (red). Good selection of the three tones, is particularly loud, rated at 125 decibels. Haven't used it at ice rink yet, but from a couples tests outside seems like it will do the trick. The audio corrections on video don't do it justice for how loud it is off the front of it. Basically you can direct the sound to be loudest by pointing it in the direction of interest. Gopher Sport shipping and packaging was good, both whistles arrived in perfect condition. Even with the 3 tones to choose from, doesn't quite sound like my regular FoX40 Hockey Coach Whistle.

Get this !!

Bought this to ref for a flag football tournament and it works extremely well. Is even louder than the regular whistles others at the tournament used. It has three settings that are helpful as well. Loved the product because many people could use it without worrying about passing around germs like your standard whistle. A con would be that the material , which is plastic, does feel very cheap and the overall product feels cheap too.

Good Product For Select Uses

Fox 40 has always done right by me, so I had pretty high expectations. I do like the easily replaceable batteries. The issue I have is that it's not loud enough for use on a large open playing field. 15 yards from play may be its max distance for effective communication on the field to players. Coaches and spectators will watch play cease and wonder why because they didn't hear a clear, sharp whistle tone. Maybe these are designed for indoors use, but the whistle does not command the attention needed to manage a game well in outdoor usage at longer distances.

Loud and Clear

This electronic whistle is excellent. I use it on the soccer field to wrangle and condition 7-8 year olds during practice and games! It’s very loud. I’ve even thought of using it as a self-defense tool when I go running.

Nice option for consistency, but not for value

Initially I really liked the theory behind the multi tone whistle. It allowed the referees on different courts the option to adjust their tones, which would differentiate between the courts. Unfortunately in less than 8 times using these whistles, I have had two fail out of five. So it has turned out to be an expensive choice. Therefore I am not too sure I will continue to purchase this product if I get and further ones failing.

It's not a terrible product, but isn't as good as it could be or as good as other alternative products. It's $24, which isn't a huge amount I know, but you can get an alternative from elsewhere for $10. The question is, is this whistle worth the extra $14?The battery cover is a weakness, it's a fiddle to take off and looks flimsy and insecure.
