I purchased this in Feb, 2020 mainly because of the ability to make ice. It doesn't unless the temp is turned down so low that everything else freezes. Now less than 3 years later (Fall 2022) the thermostat has stopped working. It will not turn off despite the temp setting thus freezing and ruining all of our food. Ok, I understand that things break - I HAVE EMAILED DOMETIC CUSTOMER SUPPORT 3 TIMES WITH ZERO RESPONSE. I seem to have no avenue to have this repaired. The RV shops that I contacted won't touch it.

Also, If your gonna charge $1000 on a portable fridge the insulated cover should come standard with each unit.If i had to do it over again, I would just go on Amazon and purchase a lower priced unit. I really wanted to like this fridge but can't get past how loud it is.

Loving this fridge. It’s first test was a x-country trip and back over 3 weeks. Solid (don’t let the plastic construction worry you) and efficient. Running it off a 700w power station (battery) and 100w solar panel on the roof, and need to use the Jeep regular battery only if it rains/clouds all day.It’s not the quietest fridge out there, but I sleep with my head right next to it (literally) and a foam ear plug does the trick. If it were near my feet, probably would not be an issue.It’s not the biggest you can find, but it packs plenty for my needs. Our CFX3-35 also makes noise when the compressor is running but the sound is both lower in volume and it is a "gentler" sound (not really sure how to describe the sound and differences between the two compressors) - the 35 compressor sound is definitely more tolerable at night/during sleep time - we've done that successfully multiple times.We really wish there was a fix/solution for the noisy-loud CFX3-25 compressor - we liked the unit otherwise.We considered ordering another one / in case the first one was defective or just out of spec, but there were no more units available through REI at this time (we must have received the last one from their stock). We will mark CFX3-25 as "not recommended" given our experience with this one unit - YMMV. If you do decide on purchasing one, make sure to test it out at night/sleep time before taking it out on a trip.
I have the CFX3 35 and it has been a fine cooler. I just purchased and received the CFX3 25 (sometimes we would like to have a smaller cooler for our SUV). It does cool quickly and the interior space is just fine for us. Unfortunately, the CFX3 25 is MUCH louder (vs the CFX3 35) when the compressor is running. It would probably be impossible to car camp / sleep with the compressor running nearby (it's that loud). Sadly, we will be returning the CFX3 25 (love the size/footprint but the noise is unacceptable). Not really sure why Dometic designed this cooler without considering the noise levels (note: when the compressor is NOT running, it is quiet but boy, oh boy it's too loud when the compressor is running).

In Moab in the fall, outside temp was 75F, fridge was set at 40, internal temp 12F. Obviously this meant we couldn't use one compartment on the trip as the fridge was trying too hard to maintain such a low temp.Apparently this is a problem with thermistors and no support from Dometic. Also why is anything icing up at 36 degrees? I debated on what size to purchase and settled on the CFX3 25 and I’m pleased with my purchase. The CFX3 25 fits perfectly in both my vehicles and is not too heavy to carry around. Anytime larger or heavier would not have been as convenient. The cooler is quiet and powerful. I really like the Bluetooth features which allows me to turn my cooler on prior to trips. Very rugged and well built. I also purchased the protective cover which fits like a glove. Very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to years of enjoyment.
Have had this unit for about a year and am thankful that I havent had any compressor failures or anything of that sort. For the most part it functions as intended HOWEVER, the compressor makes a clunking/rattling noise if you drive over rough road or railroad tracks, or things of that nature. This is really annoying when you have the unit inside of an SUV that is essentially daily driven. There is no reason for this and the CFX3 SLD55 unit to make as much noise as they do. It should ride silently regardless of it being inside an SUV or mounted in the bed of a truck. The cfx3 app is also god awful. It doesn't work half the time whether your on bluetooth or connected via wifi. This app needs a substantial overhaul.

The 110v always worked, the freezer setting got a lot of food down to 4F in a few hours.At first 12v in my car first seemed to work, but then would only get food down to about 39F. I even tried it in my boat where I have two large house batteries. When the same house batteries were running the cooler through the inverter at 110v, it worked fine, but then going directly into a 12v socket to the same batteries and the cooler would barely get below 40F.Then the 12v side died completely. I took it back to REI and they quickly refunded me.The mobile app that comes with it is sort of clunky but overall works.
