Brilliant optical quality The Fujifilm 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR utilizes five ED and one Super ED lens elements to reduce chromatic aberrations, and a HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) to reduce ghosting and flare. Seven rounded aperture blades create a smooth, circular bokeh, and helps your subject stand out. Advanced 5 stop optical image stabilisation. The Fujifilm 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR lens features a highly advanced 5 stop optical image stabilisation system. This will allow you to shoot handheld at shutter speeds up to 5 times slower than non-stabilised lenses, and helps capture sharp and blur free pictures in low light and high focal lengths. The versatile telephoto zoom range The lens features a versatile telephoto zoom range of 50-140mm, which makes it ideal for portrait, sports, wildlife and nature photography. High speed and quiet autofocus The lens focuses quickly and silently thanks to the world's first triple linear motor and an inner focusing system. Inner focusing and zooming The inner focusing system keeps the weight balance the same, and using gradient filters like polarisers is effortless because of a stationary front element. Weather resistant and dust-resistant Seals are applied to each portion of the barrel, making the lens weather-resistant and dust-resistant. Compatible with the XF1.4X TC WR teleconverter The Fujifilm XF 50-140mm F2.8 is compatible with the XF1.4X TC WR teleconverter. The teleconverter will multiply the lens's focal length by 1.4 and will provide greater reach.

Overall a fantastic lens - razor sharp - keeps up with primes for sure, great color, fast AF, effective OIS (1/15th shutter at 140mm is possible for me). It handles great. Yup, its size, weight, and cost are all high for the X-system, but this lens is also a money maker and so far I've never regretted taking this lens out whether for portraits, sports, or landscape tourist photos. The images really pop, the color is great, and I think this lens just has its own special look that I don't see with my primes. Portraits at 210mm equivalent are stunning even stopped down to f/4-f/5.6, IMO. Plenty of bokeh if you pay attention to composition. If I had to sell every lens I own but one, I'd strongly consider keeping this one as its versatility and image quality are so high ... MoreOverall a fantastic lens - razor sharp - keeps up with primes for sure, great color, fast AF, effective OIS (1/15th shutter at 140mm is possible for me). If I had to sell every lens I own but one, I'd strongly consider keeping this one as its versatility and image quality are so high overall. Frankly, a 23mm prime+this lens could cover pretty much everything I usually do at the moment. In terms of cons I don't like the jiggly lens hood, or the weird way it goes on (easy to cross-thread). I also don't love how SLOW the manual focus ring is, even if it has a good feel - I basically never bother trying to manually focusing this lens. The OIS does make a steady whir sound, but I actually kind of like it + it is not loud when shooting in the normal noisy world, just in my coffin-like room.On my 26mp sensor, I think there might be a slight lack of contrast/resolution wide-open, but it tightens up to perfection at about f/3.6 and stays there until around f/11-f/16. This lens will flare pretty dramatically, so use the lens hood unless you want, like I do, to exploit the flare. Sun stars are OK but not stunners.Like others have said, AF seems to slow down/hunt, or miss more in low light. That is generally true of all the Fuji lenses I own, however. But what does that mean? My personal torture test is a toddler in a 10x10 room lit by a single lamp at night - ample light for my eye, but not for the camera (XT3). Even properly exposed with low shutter+high iso no lens I own has yet wowed me in that sort of low light action photography - most fall apart.Personally, I think the 50-140 holds up comparatively better than most lenses I own, partly as a result of being more accurate more often. During sunset at an outdoor wedding, I had no issues nailing focus and AF was still very fast. My hope is that, on a newer body some day, this lens will perform even better in my torture test. I should add that I typically use this as an outdoor lens, as both the focal length and minimum focus distance of about 3 feet make this harder to use in smaller indoor environments/rooms.A legendary Fuji lens.

Even though I may have to crop a bit more with the 50-140, the sharpness I've gained from being able to use a faster shutter speed combined with the noticeably better OIS has given me sharper, clearer, more usable images. The AF is also noticeably faster and very, very accurate. The penalties compared to the 55-200 are of course cost, weight, and size, but compared to the cost and weight of a full-frame 70-200 f/2.8 lens, it's still manageable and affordable, and it balances very well on my X-H1 with the grip.I didn't expect to see much of a difference based on the numbers and most reviews I've seen as the 55-200 really is an outstanding lens, but in the real world, the 50-140 is proving to be a significant step up.I'm looking forward to seeing how it pairs with the 1.4x TC soon.

However, I think it would be a nice touch to display a confirmation immediately after submiting the order.Aside from that, the rental process was easy and quick. I received emails with order status updates. I had the option to have the lens delivered to a local FedEx shipping site and it arrived on schedule. The return instructions were simple and easy to follow and I appreciate the packaging tape they included -nice touch!I am very pleased with this experience and I will certainly return to Lensrentals next time I need a specialty lens.

Great lens! Very well packaged

Great lens! I took great portraits with it for my daughter's virtual college graduation. The lens was packaged well in a very sturdy case. The barrel and lens hood had some oily marks (?). I'm not 100% sure what it is but perhaps from previous renters who have handled the lens with oily fingers. The front and rear elements were very clean. The zoom and focus rings were very smooth. They were no mechanical issues. I can very slightly hear the OIS motor even when I turned the OIS switch to the off position. I've read some reviews on this that is normal for this lens. It's not loud and only audible when in very quiet environments. I was using it with my X-T4 so I'm not sure if it has something to do with that. It took great photos, nevertheless, and was very happy with ... MoreGreat lens! I almost didn't keep it!

This is not a technical review:I have never had a f 2.8 mid range zoom lens and thought this one would be great for many situations. But when I took it out of the box I realized it was not going to be a walk around lens- at least if the walk was very long. So I had a moment of temporary disappointment until I put the lens on the camera and saw what f 2.8 can do. Sweet bokeh with sharp center and clear and contrasty elements made the photos nearly jump off the page. I was sold even before trying out the video. The video was effortless with excellent focus. But when I took it out of the box I realized it was not going to be a walk around lens- at least if the walk was very long. So I had a moment of temporary disappointment until I put the lens on the camera and saw what f 2.8 can do. It kept up with hummingbirds zooming in and out of the frame. I have tried the lens in back lighting situations, sunrise and sunsets and early morning and evening environmental birding photography and it does well if the user gives more exposure in back lit situations. I am using the lens with the Fuji XT5 camera.

I like this lens
8 August 2021

This review is based on a single, but full day of shooting in natural light conditions. The first thing I noticed is the heft of the lens; it was heavier than I thought it would be, which is a good thing because so much of Fuji equipment tends to be more plastic feeling and perhaps not as durable as some of the Canon or Nikon equipment I've used over the years. I felt like the quality of the images was not quite as good as those I shot on the same day as a 70 to 200mm Canon lens with a Canon 5D, but the compactness of the lens and the XPro2 body make it an attractive package, especially when traveling and not wanting to lug heavy equipment. It gave up ground in lower-light situations, but bright conditions it was ideal. Most of all, I enjoyed using it and then setup ... MoreThis review is based on a single, but full day of shooting in natural light conditions. Not the best lens on the market, but for the price I felt it was well worth it.

Not as sharp as my 90mm
12 August 2023

Not as tack sharp as my 90mm, but far more versatile. I photograph plays in a dark theater and my 90mm f/2 has been excellent at nailing focus in dim situations on moving subjects. I just needed more flexibility in composing shots, especially on the sightly wider end, and the 50-140 f/2.8 fits the bill. It's only slightly less sharp and inaccurate focus-wise, but the majority of my shots are still keepers. With adequate light and stopped down it's incredibly sharp and accurate. I do not have a loose mount like some people claim. Once clicked in to place it is rock solid. I did replace the foot though with something more rigid with built in rails. Price may seem steep but for a constant aperture zoomi think it's well worth the cost. 10/10 would buy again.

Outstanding Sharpness - Optical Perfection
5 December 2022

This lens is amazing. I own the Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 IS II, and this is just as good, cheaper, lighter and with an outstandingly useful tripod foot/collar. I have all the fast fuji glass (90/f2; 60/f2.4; 56/f1.4; 35/f1.4; 23/f1.4; 16/f1.4 and 18/f1.4), so I know what the best images from Fuji kit look like. This is on a par with the best of them (it shouldn't be given that its a zoom). It's a useful portrait and landscape lens. With my Canon 500D close up lens/dioptre, it's a great macro lens and what I really like about it is the clarity without the need for fill flash. This is the equivalent of the Canon, but so much easier and lighter to use - overall greater utility compared to the Canon. This is the equivalent of the Canon, but so much easier and lighter to use - overall greater utility compared to the Canon. Professionally, I've shot weddings with the Canon lens, and halfway through, the weight really cripples your arm. The Fuji 50-140 feels like a featherweight by comparison and gives images that are just as pleasing. The smaller XT series cameras are the perfect match, and really help keep the weight down. On it's own, close focus is nothing special, but sharpness, speed, stabilisation, Weather resistance are stunning characteristics that make this special. Ignore what people say about this being heavy. It is not at all heavy compared to the competition, and balances well on XT bodies. You don't need a grip either as the tripod foot makes holding it very manageable.Build quality is outstanding. I can imagine it will really take what nature and my clumsiness throw at it.B&H service was amazing as always - I had it within a week, and I live in Adelaide, Australia, so full marks for service.Bottom line - buy this lens, you won't regret it. I have just bought the Fuji X-T5, so stabilisation on that body will be amazing, but the lens is also capable of stellar images on older bodies such as the X-T2 and X-T3, which are still competitive devices a hairs breadth beneath the current state-of-the -art.

The LENSERENTALS company is first
6 March 2023

The LENSERENTALS company is first class. The lens I received looked like it was brand new. Functioned perfectly. I rented the lens because I was not sure I wanted to buy the Fuji 50-140 and it is an expensive lens. I used the lens in a variety of shooting situations. Although I did decide not to buy the lens after all, renting turned out to be an important very low-cost decision maker without having to buy the lens and end up with buyer's remorse!

Upper focal lengths covered well
30 May 2021

I'm a prime lens fella, and had been thinkin' of gettin' a prime 100mm and 200mm lens... but, since Fuji doesn't really pay attention to the high end focal lengths, as much as they do the wide/normal/short telephoto focal lengths, was hard pressed to find... would of had to of gone to a third party, manual focus lens. So, decided to splurge (and splurge indeed, as this lens is nearly the same price as the X-Pro3 I got it for!), and really, couldn't be more satisfied. It is a lot lighter than one would think, actually balances quite well on the X-Pro3... and thought at first I had received a bum lens, because when I went to focus, I wasn't hearing a bloody thing... but, that is just how freaky silent it is! My 33mm f/1.4 lens is louder when focusing! My 33mm f/1.4 lens is louder when focusing! And, as opposed to my 33mm, it's quick to focus, whilst sometimes the 33mm has to hunt. And, as one would hope for the price, the lens is also sharp. So, overall, am pleased with the the 50-140mm being my lone zoom, believe it was a good investment and will suit me well, and would highly recommend it.
