The "FUJINON XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ" covers the frequently used focal length from 23mm to 69mm in the 35mm format equivalent, and is the smallest and most lightweight interchangeable zoom lens compatible with the "X series". Combine this lens with a Fujifilm compact, lightweight mirrorless digital camera and you can enjoy excellent portability and comfortable shooting. Smallest and lightest (135g) zoom lens The smallest and lightest weight interchangeable zoom lens for the "X Series" mirrorless digital camera range The composition of 10 lenses in 9 groups, including three aspherical lenses and two ED lenses, provides excellent resolution at all zoom positions, while measuring just 44.2mm* long and weighing only 135g. Covers frequently used focal lengths This new lens covers the frequently used focal length from 23mm to 69mm (in 35mm format equivalent) which makes it a suitable lens for shooting both landscape and portrait photography. Because the wide angle end is equivalent to 23mm, this lens will be suitable for capturing self-portraits featuring multiple people or backgrounds when using with a camera with a 180° tilting LCD screen, such as FUJIFILM X-A5. Electric zoom and comfortable operation Creating a small, collapsible lens has been made possible by utilizing an electric zoom. When the camera is switched on, the lens automatically extends ready for shooting. Two different zoom speeds can be selected by the rotating of the zoom ring. The lens moves position at a constant speed, producing smooth zooming motion when shooting movies. Optical image stabilization The electric zoom includes 3.0-stop optical image stabilization technology compatible with CIPA guidelines, which assists photographers shooting in low light conditions. Fast and silent autofocus The inner focusing AF system uses a stepping motor to drive lightweight focusing elements for a fast and silent autofocus performance.

A compact, entry level that punches far above its weight!

As most of you realize, when you purchase an entry level style of "kit" zoom lens, you wind up hoping that you get a good copy. It's a given that with most kit lenses, copy-to-copy variations do exist, and that can become a downer if you get a bad one. This new XC 15-45 is a remarkable lens. Yes, it has a fly by wire zooming mechanism that initially reminds you of the built-in lenses that come with enthusiast long zoom lenses. Once you get over that perception, you will be pleasantly surprised at how sharp optically this lens is. I now have two of these lenses (one silver and one black) and both are superb copies - with clarity levels being very sharp from corner to corner (not just in the center). I now have two of these lenses (one silver and one black) and both are superb copies - with clarity levels being very sharp from corner to corner (not just in the center). I tend to shoot anywhere from F6.3 to F8 and you will find the sharpness levels to a cut above.Additionally, the biggest plus in my opinion is the 22.5 MM wide angle equivalent that this lens affords you. As you may or may not realize, even small additions to the wide end (even as low as just 1 MM), are easily noticeable and distinct. Additions on the long end of the telephoto range, however, are not that noticeable. Differences between a 120 MM focal reach and a 150 MM focal reach are not that pronounced at all. But adding just 1 MM or more to the wide end, makes a world of difference. Thus the 22.5 MM focal equivalent on this 15-45 really stands out when compared to the typical 24 MM and 28 MM wide ends that are standard for most kit zoom lenses. In fact, when using this lens to shoot scenics, architectural photography, and large group portraits of people, you'll find yourself "not" wishing you had a wide angle zoom. This 22.5 MM focal equivalent on the wide end really opens up so many additional opportunities.OK, so we know that lens is constructed of all plastic (to include the lens mount portion) - yet the optics are glass obviously - but again, this lens seemingly punches far above its weight in both optical qualities and wide angle reach. As it stands now, I would not hesitate to put this lens on any of my Fuji X bodies. In the end however, it all depends on the copy you receive. I purchased two and wound up with both great copies. Hopefully, the same will occur for you.All in all, among all of the kit lenses I own from Panasonic, Olympus, Canon EOS M, Samsung NX, and Fuji - this 15-45 XC is the sharpest among them all - not to mention adding even more on the wide end of things.Highly recommended and the reason I gave it 5 stars is that I was comparing this lens to other kit lenses within this genre. As a result, it easily stands out (in my opinion of course) from this crowded field.

A great casual use, not too precious lens.

New product, Still in unmarked factory box and sealed inner wrapper. I would guess it's a gray market item, a kit lens taken from a body and kit package. So no factory warranty, but it's Fuji quality, though their lowest lens product line. For a dirt cheap price for what it is, it's worth it to take this route. Normally, I wouldn't. Lens is just what I thought it would be, extremely light weight, compact, easy to carry around on a walk around set up that I won't care too much about what happens to it by my stupidity. Good, clean images, and zoom easier to use than mentioned in reviews. The smaller ring controls the lens almost in a manner that a manual zoom function would. Not too far off from conventional lens muscle memory. Overall very happy.

I may not be the typical buyer of this lens. Im an old retired professional photographer with decades of experience with pro-level lenses. I converted to Fuji X to reduce my carry weight and size. Considering all that, its amazing that I have found so much satisfaction with this lens. The image quality, especially at the wide end where I use it the most, is good. The lens is very lightweight and very compact when turned off. No, its not quite as sharp as my prime lenses, but more than acceptable. I highly recommend it for serious but non critical photography.

Fuji Kit Lens
18 August 2021

A hidden gem from Fuji. Ignore the criticisms about plastic and fiddly zoom, its small and produces decent images good enough for me. Yes you could spend a lot more for a weather sealed, metal bodied lens with higher specs but this is a great little travel lens that saves you carting about a bag full of kit.

It works ok and capable of getting some decent pictures at a lower cost then the usual Fuji X mount lens.
7 July 2021

A compact, moderate zoom lens is a low cost Fuji XC lens which has had inconsistent results for the pics I have taken so far...Sometimes fairly sharp with a moderately fast focus and quiet focus in good light. Sometimes not very sharp results with mixed focus happen also. Having been spoiled by a few prime lenses, the results from this inexpensive zoom lens can be disappointing, but when taking the cost and the fact it is a zoom lens into account, this lens isn't bad, considering. It is after all, a kit type lens so maybe my expectations were too high...it works ok and capable of getting some decent pictures at a lower cost then the usual Fuji X mount lenses these days. I own it and do not regret the purchase...

Super kit lens with a autofocus motor and zoom that to me as a 20 year photo guy is epic. I got this for my daughter and its by no means the best lens ever but its great for someone who is new to the game. It zooms either in increments or manually. Really neat when you see it in action. Also pretty sharp for the price and flexible. Took some low light no flash pics of a agitated Pomeranian and actually got some cute shots barely trying.

Overall I really like this lens
26 March 2018

This is my first impression of the Fujifilm XC 15–45mm OIS PZ lens. I hope to post an update after I have had more experience with it. That said, this is my first XC series lens. I have six other Fuji X Series lenses, all from the XF series. The XF lenses are Fuji's "pro" lenses. As such, they have a lot of metal and glass. The XC lenses tend to be Fuji's "consumer" lenses and use various approaches to keep the cost low. This land has in fact, been introduced as a kit lens for the new Fujifilm X-A5 camera. But of course is available separately for those of us who already have X body cameras. This is the lens that I have been waiting for ever since I bought into the X body camera system. But of course is available separately for those of us who already have X body cameras. This is the lens that I have been waiting for ever since I bought into the X body camera system. The ex parte lenses available from Fuji to this point, have been fairly large and fairly heavy. I have been hoping that Fuji would come out with a small, light weight, moderate zoom. This lens feels that Bill quite well. The lens itself, when collapsed, is roughly the same size as the XF 18mm F2 R. When you power up your camera the lens expand, approximately, and additional inch. And, remains this length while the camera is in use. It retracts when the camera is turned off. The power zoom feature will work on any X mount camera in the Fugees line. Resume is operated by a zoom ring on the lens barrel. Twist the ring to the right and the lens zooms telephoto. Twist the ring to the left and it zooms wide-angle. The lens also has OIS image stabilization. There is no control to turn OIS on or off, so I assume it is always on. I don't know that for fact because I'm not very diligent about reading documentation. The lens barrel including the lens mount, is made of plastic. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes it lands that is very lightweight. When I held this lens in my hand for the first time, I could not believe how light weight it was. It barely felt like it was there. Most of the XF lenses come with front and rear lens caps, a soft lens bag, and most include the appropriate lens shade. As this is my first XC lens, I do not know what is the norm for XC series lenses. This lens came with front and rear lens caps only. The front Is the newer Fuji style that I prefer over the older style. However, the rear lens cap, was not a bayonet, but a white plastic push-on cap. This rear lens cap is the only thing that I am disappointed with. I will be ordering a standard bayonet style cap the next time I put in an order for camera stuff.Overall I really like this lens. It is exactly what I was hoping Fuji would eventually produce: a small lightweight zoom of moderate range to help frame my photos without having to walk around a lot. I hope to add or revise this review when I have had a chance to evaluate the image quality.

Perfect travel lens. Almost

I got this in advance of a trip where I needed to fit my x-h1 and lens into a pretty small bag. It was nearly perfect in that regard. It’s about the size of tha 18mm f2 when retracted. It’s very compact and lightweight. It’s sharp enough wide open at all focal lengths for my purposes. The 15mm wide end is wide enough that I could leave my 14mm f2.8 at home. There are a few flies in the ointment, however... The lens doesn’t remember the focal length last used, so on powering up it always settles back to 15mm. When reviewing images on the camera lcd the lens must retract first, which delays the process and feels awkward. Then when you’re ready to shoot again you have to wait for the lens to turn on and it goes to 15mm.The power zoom isn’t as awkward as I thought it ... MoreI got this in advance of a trip where I needed to fit my x-h1 and lens into a pretty small bag. The lens doesn’t remember the focal length last used, so on powering up it always settles back to 15mm. When reviewing images on the camera lcd the lens must retract first, which delays the process and feels awkward. Then when you’re ready to shoot again you have to wait for the lens to turn on and it goes to 15mm.The power zoom isn’t as awkward as I thought it would be, and it’s easy to dial in a precise focal length for precise framing. If only the lens/body would remember that focal length and return to it after viewing images or a power on/off cycle.

I kept this lens because it makes beautiful images, SOOC. I love the colors and contrast, more so than when shooting the XF 35mm f2. PROS: Lightweight. Feels like nothing on my X-E2s. Great for street and landscapes. Silent, fast auto focus. Super close focus. Plastic lens mount fits securely on camera body. CONS: It really drains my battery. I used to shoot 350 shots per battery. Now it's 190. Say goodbye to low light shots. The 3.5-5.6 aperture results in high ISO and slow shutter speeds. I took this lens to a concert and had maybe two keepers. The manual focus ring is a joke. Yes, it works, but it feels like a plastic happy meal toy. Bottom line is I recommend this lens for daylight, documentary and landscapes. Very sharp, lightweight, but not the most sold feeling.

Once you get past the cheap feeling build and the power zoom, this is a surpringly great lens. Significantly better sharpness than my XF18-55 at the wider end and roughly comparable at the longer end. Mine has taken a tumble onto a hard surface and has survived totally fine apart from some scuffs on the body, so it's more robust than it may first appear. OIS is good, not the best, but I can certainly use much longer exposures handheld compared to my primes without IS.There's not getting away from the tacky feeling power zoom and overall presentation of the lens not giving that same feeling as a nice, solid, XF lens in use. That said, the construction does result in it being very lightweight. It's also not the sort of lens you should be looking at if bokeh quality ... MoreOnce you get past the cheap feeling build and the power zoom, this is a surpringly great lens. It's also not the sort of lens you should be looking at if bokeh quality is a key criteria - definitely not a strength.Where it is strong is as a very sharp, lightweight lens, ideal for hiking etc
