G-SHOCK, the watch that brought the new concept of toughness to the timepiece. It began with a reckless challenge to the conventional wisdom of the day, a developer's belief that it was possible to construct a watch that wouldn't break, even if dropped, Project Team Tough was formed to build it in 1981. The team created over 200 prototypes one after another over a period of about two years. They finally arrived at a shock-resistant structure. This marked the birth of a technology that is tough to the core. And G-SHOCK has continued its unceasing evolution ever since, in pursuit of greater toughness in every respect, from structure and materials to functions. Today, the development team's passionate challenge and constant efforts have reached fruition in Triple G Resist, a structure with the strength to withstand 3 types of gravitational acceleration. In its pursuit of usability under any circumstances, moreover, G-SHOCK realized installation of Smart Access, a system assuring agile, reliable operability. Stronger than ever, and targeting even greater strength, G-SHOCK's challenge is never-ending.

Husbands other G shock is all black. I liked all this watch was able to do and knew husband would sit and get it up and running.. I cheated and gave early for Christmas. And yep! He was surprised and sat over there in his chair and got that sucker programmed. Retired his other G shock and wore next day to work. Guys at work noticed right off the bat. Also calibrating the compass has never been so easy to perform. I'm really happy with my G Shock purchase and look forward to long yrs of use. A little tip to those who have corrosion issues or watch band issues. 1. Never shower with your watch or wash dishes with dish soap. 2. Never wear watch while working around or near chemicals. Shower wash, detergents or other cleaning chemicals will absolutely destroy a watch! If you've ever took time to read your Casio watch book it clearly says to never use around chemicals. But hey it's your $300.00 watch so take care of it as carelessly as you want but don't ever blame Casio for your mistakes.

G-SHOCK - MANY FEATURES, LOOKS GOOD & IS RUGGED.
11 October 2021

this is my first casio g-shock. I have a couple of rolex models but felt I needed another watch piece. I looked at several g shock models before deciding on the gw-9400 . it is a lot of watch , loads of features which im still trying to learn how to get the most out of it. ut looks rugged, and the time is easily read. so, so far so good - 2 weeks in to it. the band is comfortable , the watch face is clear. I think it is a good watch piece. oct/ 2021

I returned the watch. Clock face too too small. The digital displays are tiny. The main reason I returned the watch is that I couldn’t read the instruction booklet. The print is tiny and the print shade practically blends in with the white background. There is nothing wrong with my eyesight.I found the watch to be ridiculous. Thanks for the opportunity to give feedback.

Great Watch with a lot of Features
9 May 2016

I initially wanted to purchase the military green version, but there were just too many complaints from owners citing the fact that the negative display was next to impossible to read even during ideal lighting conditions. So, I opted for this positive display version which is in fact very easy to read. The auto light feature is a great addition; i.e., move your wrist to read the watch at night and the internal sensor automatically lights up the display. My solar-powered quartz watch arrived 100% fully charged and has been keeping time perfectly ever since it arrived. My solar-powered quartz watch arrived 100% fully charged and has been keeping time perfectly ever since it arrived. Since I am surrounded by mountains, the radio controlled atomic timekeeping feature does not automatically work; however, that function can be 'forced' (manually performed) which worked just fine...though it's about a 7-10 minute procedure until the signal is captured and the time is synced to my watch. The Compass and Temperature features are 'spot on' and the Altimeter and Barometer are almost 100% accurate. Sunrise/Sunset times are close enough, but a bit off (as expected)...since I reside at 7,000' altitude. Everything on this watch seems to work fine so far, except for the fact that alarm beeps are extremely faint and almost imperceptible. Though I have highly sensitive hearing, I can only hear the alarm beepswhen I hold the watch directly up to my ear; therefore, the alarm feature is virtually worthless to me. Though this watch has a stainless steel (encompassed by resin) case, it looks great, yet is still lightweight. The resin watchband is flexible and comfortable, but this US version does not come with the carbon fiber reinforced band...like the Japanese versions do. This is a great watch with a lot of features for those whom might need them.I don't use them all, but it's nice to know that they're there if I need them...cheers.

If you could only have one G-Shock, this is it.
19 October 2022

This thing has been reviewed to death on the internet for close to a decade now. All I can say is, it's as good as they say it is. Looking for a one watch G-Shock? This is the one you should pick. If there is one"con" I'd say it's the backlight. This no longer has that really cool blue-green EL (electroluminescence) light, having an LED instead. Not a deal breaker for sure but it would've been nice to have a classic EL instead..

Rugged, tough and inexpensive

I had never been a big fan of digital watches nor of Casio because I thought that they were cheap disposable watches and I always opted for rugged automatic divers watches that could take a lot of punishment. Then recently, my youngest soon decided he was going into the military after High school so I bought him a "cheap, disposable" and supposedly rugged G-Shock and was impressed with the quality of it. The Tough Solar option means that he will probably not have to change out the battery for a long time and the Atomic Multiband 6 means that, as long as it can receive a signal it will tell the correct time. Along with all of the other features it should stand up nicely for a long time. Being able to swap out the bezel for a different color, adding bull bars and swapping out the strap for something different are options. Swapping the strap isn't easy because of Casio's choice to go with a 16mm lug width to fit their proprietary watch bands means you will have to buy a set of adapters, check out jaysandkays for those. All in all I am pleased with the purchase of this watch

This is one fine watch from Casio. After I received it, I set it up for my time zone and then waited for it to catch up. It didn't take long. It was showing medium charge when I opened it up. I left it near a window facing North for a day. Fully charged, and the Atomic clock signal was collected. The stop watch and count down timer are both intuitive to operated. The temperature offset is easy to manage once you know what you're doing. I love the Compass and Altitude functions. The barometric pressure reading was a pleasant surprise, and everything functions as it should. Very nice, stylish watch from Casio. I've been wearing them for 40 years. Never been disappointed.

Strong, comfortable, stylish, and full of features. The screen is easy to read with the normal display (I had purchased the same model with the negative display but couldn't read the display). All the features work well and the triple sensors are accurate. The watch feels very comfortable for a larger rugged watch. I specifically bought this watch so that I could have all of its features in a rugged watch and never have to worry about damaging it or needing to take it off for certain activities. I have not taken it off since I bought it or felt like I needed to. As weird as it sounds I feel like I trust this watch. I have not owned another watch where I can truly say I didn't have to worry about hurting it or if it would function in any situation.
