I got this for my husband, who has a different G shock and loves it. He thought it died after 15 plus years. So I started looking at G shocks that would hold up to his job (mixer driver) and be heavy duty. This one kept catching my eye, I personally liked the red on the watch. Husbands other G shock is all black. I liked all this watch was able to do and knew husband would sit and get it up and running.. I cheated and gave early for Christmas. And yep! He was surprised and sat over there in his chair and got that sucker programmed. Retired his other G shock and wore next day to work. Guys at work noticed right off the bat. Several knew it was military and geez.. Must be nice to afford.. Husband said wife got for Christmas.. Wow they say.. Yep! I did good.. Great ... I'm a very picky watch person but have always gone with Casio watches that last longer then other brands on the market. The Rangeman 9400 came into production in 2013 which was the first G Shock triple sensor in production. I wanted this watch for many yrs but I have learned to wait because every released production yr Casio improves the watch to fix flaws and firmware for top functionality and accuracy. Mine I just received was this yrs production and I'm so far really impressed! I've used it to navigate by map setting points and never have been lead astray. The watch goes through modes without delays, everything loads fast including the sensor data. The nice feature is that the compass information will stay active 60 seconds instead of previous triple sensors that ... A little tip to those who have corrosion issues or watch band issues. 1. Never shower with your watch or wash dishes with dish soap. 2. Never wear watch while working around or near chemicals. Shower wash, detergents or other cleaning chemicals will absolutely destroy a watch! If you've ever took time to read your Casio watch book it clearly says to never use around chemicals. But hey it's your $300.00 watch so take care of it as carelessly as you want but don't ever blame Casio for your mistakes.

Casio G-Shocks are tough as nails and provide the essentials. No need to recharge or worry about breaking such a durable watch. The GW9400-1 has all I need, and is more valuable to me than any smartwatch because it's built for utility, not for luxury or entertainment.

The Rangeman GW9400-3 has always been a grail of mine. The one I bought is used and has some scratches on the watch face. I really don't mind though as I'm pretty tough on my stuff and would've probably scratched it myself anyway. I don't personally love rubber straps but this one wasn't bad, I went ahead and switched it out with the JaysAndKays light olive adapters and a 24mm Zulu style strap which suits me much better. I'll tell you what though...this is hands down the favorite watch in my collection and has lived up to every expectation that I've held for this watch since the first day I saw it and fell in love with it! The new Rangeman is cool, but I really don't want to have to connect my watch to an app on my phone, plus it doesn't look anywhere near as good. ... So, I opted for this positive display version which is in fact very easy to read. The auto light feature is a great addition; i.e., move your wrist to read the watch at night and the internal sensor automatically lights up the display. My solar-powered quartz watch arrived 100% fully charged and has been keeping time perfectly ever since it arrived. Since I am surrounded by mountains, the radio controlled atomic timekeeping feature does not automatically work; however, that function can be 'forced' (manually performed) which worked just ... Though this watch has a stainless steel (encompassed by resin) case, it looks great, yet is still lightweight. The resin watchband is flexible and comfortable, but this US version does not come with the carbon fiber reinforced band...like the Japanese versions do. This is a great watch with a lot of features for those whom might need them.I don't use them all, but it's nice to know that they're there if I need them...cheers.
This thing has been reviewed to death on the internet for close to a decade now. All I can say is, it's as good as they say it is. Looking for a one watch G-Shock? This is the one you should pick. If there is one"con" I'd say it's the backlight. This no longer has that really cool blue-green EL (electroluminescence) light, having an LED instead. Not a deal breaker for sure but it would've been nice to have a classic EL instead..

There is a lot of attention to detail including the well laid out dial, well finished buttons and case, and one of the best straps on a G-Shock. Most others feel a bit more plasticky- rubbery at this price. Also, the overall design is quite nice and looks like a pricy watch, even for a G-Shock. I do have a large watch collection , with this being on of the most inexpensive watches I have , however it still gets a lot of wrist time. That is the kind of effect this ... This is one fine watch from Casio. After I received it, I set it up for my time zone and then waited for it to catch up. It didn't take long. It was showing medium charge when I opened it up. I left it near a window facing North for a day. Fully charged, and the Atomic clock signal was collected. The stop watch and count down timer are both intuitive to operated. The temperature offset is easy to manage once you know what you're doing. I love the Compass and Altitude functions. The barometric pressure reading was a pleasant surprise, and everything functions as it should. Very nice, stylish watch from Casio. I've been wearing them for 40 years. Never been disappointed.
The G Shock GW9400 is probably one of the best watches Casio has ever made. It is built like a tank and can take all the abuse you can throw at it. It has all the sensors you could ask for and are extremely accurate. It's light weight and very comfortable to wear. But my favorite thing about the Rangeman is the Solar power and Atomic time keeping. So you never have to worry about the battery dying or the time not being spot on. And since congress has refunded the atomic time radio station in Colorado it's gonna be accurate for a very long time.
