I was torn between the s62 and the epix when picking a golf watch. I really wanted to go with the epix because of that amoled screen but the price was a bit much. After all it seemed that a lot of the extra features (gps mapping, activity list, health features) I wasn’t really going to use so I went with the s62. Come to find out after connecting it to the Garmin app that the s62 does have quite a bit of health tracking features like sleep analysis, body battery, multiple activities to track and a lot more. Sure the activity list isn’t as extensive as the epix but will cover everything I do (weight training, running, yoga etc).As far as the golf features I’m still getting used to the bells and whistles. I’m confident I’ll get the hang of it though. I also recently got the ct10 sensors so we’ll see how that goes. So far I’m very happy that what I thought was going to be my dedicated golf only watch is actually that plus a very solid fitness tracker. The amoled screen would’ve been nice but that comes at a hefty battery price as well as monetary. Plus the s62 in the outdoor sun really looks great. Which is where I’ll primarily be using it. Overall I’m very happy. The watch looks great, you can dress it up with different bands, it’s pretty light on my wrist and doesn’t really impede my swing like I thought it might. The only issue I have is depending on what golf glove I wear the watch can sometime interfere with the Velcro closure. I never noticed how some gloves have a lot of extra material at the wrist while some a more trim in that area. Still I’m loving it!

The software is worse than I thought. Turns out, you need yet another app to update the watch, Garmin Express. So, in case you've lost count, you need two apps on your phone, Connect and Golf, because I guess 2 apps that won't stop gathers more personal data than just one. Then, you've got to install Express on a computer to update the watch with pesky things like courses and new routings. It gets better. I've got a DELL XPS running Windows 8.1 and it won't install. It. Just. Won't. Garmin support suggested I try another device. Well, I've got a phone and a computer, and express doesn't come in Android, and my computer doesn't cut it. But the software department has more going on that just giving us stuff we can use, and use easily.

Great battery life and accuracy
18 April 2023

I previously owned a S60 that after 5 years failed to hold a charge for a full round. I have had the S62 for about two months now. The improved battery life is excellent. At best the S60 would last 7 hours. The S62 loses about 17% battery life for a 4 hour round with 100% backlight, wrist activated backlight feature on, with medium length of backlight. I will be taking a golf trip over three days playing 27/36/18 holes and expect it will not need to be recharged. GPS Distances have been verified with Laser and are within 1 yard of accuracy. I like the green slope feature but it only makes sense to purchase for unfamiliar courses. Will likely cancel that after the trial. Would keep if it was $50 or so per year. Definitely an improvement. Great watch. Scoring could be more seamless.
26 February 2023

The watch is great. Does it feel like a $500 watch no, but it doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of junk either. The watch is great all around. The golf features are great, but it seems like something garmin don’t spend a ton of time innovating. Given how the watch doesn’t pick up chips and puts it should be easier to add shots without going through a menu. Hot button or option in the screen would be nice. I also would prefer if the watches scoring counter stole for you versus inputting at end of hole. I know it does in a way, but if I tap driver with auto detect there’s one shot etc. no need to recount that stroke in the end. Slightly confusing. Also the app stats are not the most impressive. Arccos is more robust but this watch is better than an Apple Watch for golf. ... MoreThe watch is great. Does it feel like a $500 watch no, but it doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of junk either. I love it…but it’s complicated

As a newer golfer, I wouldn’t have bought the super deluxe golf watch, but I couldn’t help myself. What I like most is that it measures how far your individual shots have gone and keeps track. As a newer golfers this is really helpful: sometimes my 4 hybrid will go 125 yards, and sometimes much less. It is also very helpful for seeing distances to hazards and the pin: am sure it will help my consistency. Ha ha…it’s golf! Here’s what Garmin needs to do: there are NO videos on the website that take new users through the details. I had to scour YouTube to find a really excellent one posted by a user. Lots of good things, but....
19 June 2022

I've played a half dozen rounds with the S62 so far and while it's good, there is lots of room for improvement.Clearly the watch is designed for someone who paid the extra $$$ for the club monitors. I might add them at some point, but for now, manual mode gets pretty painful when recording shots. The watch rarely, maybe 1 in 20, picks up a chip shot, leading to some hiking back and forth to previous shot locations to log a shot and it takes a lot of button pushes and swipes to get there. An option to edit the order of the Red button sub-menus, or tapping on the green golf ball icon on the main screen to enter manual mode would make this a LOT easier.Placing the pin on the green, is difficult. The watch tells you how far from the pin you are, but not "where" you are on the green. In another app I use, my position shows up on the screen and I just drag the pin to me and I've mapped the exact location in seconds. On the watch, it's 15-30 seconds of trial and error, a party foul in golf.Club choices: I travel often, and use multiple sets of clubs as a result. Seems like the app/watch is set up for about 28 clubs, with only the option to completely disable, or delete clubs vs have the ability to re-activate a disabled club. While I'm sure this is a memory issue, the app could be used to "store" the inactive clubs and their shot data simply syncing after you switch to a different bag of clubs. Multiple "bags" of clubs in the app would be even cooler. The ability to re-activate a disabled club would also be a good solution to accommodate travelers like myself.I do like the app thus far as I'm still digging deeper into what it does for me, but I will say the ability to look at a mapped shot review of each hole is really nice. I am still looking for a quick way to account for my penalty shots on the watch when I'm taking 2nd shot relief, but I think that is able to be added after the round, in the app. A quick way to account for it, other than on the hole summary would be nice also. It would be nice to have a satellite view of the course map, but the version the app has is ok.Overall, I do like the transition the S62 gives me from the iOS app I've been using before, however, there are some fairly significant hassles if you do not own the club sensors. If I got the 3 pack, I'd probably start with sensoring the wedges I use for chipping since the watch doesn't seem to pick that shot up often. I'll have to explore what additional metrics the sensors give me, especially compared to the metrics I'm seeing in the R10 Monitor so far, and see if that justifies adding the sensors. No danger of taking the S62 back, but the ergonomics of working in the menus need customizability to be more efficient on the course for non-sensor owners of the watch.

Useful, but not as easy to use as I expected
25 August 2022

I've had my S62 for 3 weeks and played 4 rounds with it. The info it provides is very accurate (distances to objects reads closely to my rangefinder). But the watch is NOT very easy to use. I find it especially difficult to manually adjust the position of the pin on approaches. My rangefinder may indicate 125 yds to a back pin and the S62 gives the yardage to the front (110) back (130) and center (115). You can select the Green on the S62 and use a finger to "move" the pin to your selected yardage (in this case 125). But this feature is WAY TOO DIFFICULT to use! It's like trying to type while wearing boxing gloves. I've had the s62 for over a year and played little under 200 rounds with it. Its battery life is great compared to the 60. For the price I expected a bit more of a "smartwatch". No speaker, mic, or keyboard for communication. You can get messages and such, bit only canned preselected responses to shoose from. Its a gold watch so most are getting awaybfrom distractions anyway so wasnt part of my rating. As a golf only accessory it used to be 5 star great, easily track progress, club distances, ect. If you try to look at a round you just finished, the app will reopen the round and discard all your scores. Right now my only fix is to delete the app and reinstall after every round. It's either a GPS map only unit or a major headache to sync properly to its own app. I can't fathom why Garmin created such a major bug in an update and recognize it is response ti support and has been taking their time on fixing it. Rolling it back to a previous version would be better customer service than just letting its users suffer. Watch was amazing all around short of communication, now with the app issues its best used as a standalone GPS only unit. There's also courses that have multiple greens on a hole, and garmin only has 1 of them available with not even a graphic of the green to manually adjust. If you play unknown courses best bring a laser unit as well. I give it another month before I start looking at skycaddy units or Arccos options. Very disappointed garmin ruined such a great product, and feel guilty I've talked quite a few people into buying the s60 or s62.
