Awesome watch

I love this watch. I like the maps, the ability to create routes from the watch, the torch, recovery heart rate function, loads of activities options. The only downside for me as a female with small wrists (17cm) is that it's too big for daily use. Although I like the size for usability, especially navigation. It has turn by turn alerts... I imagine it has many things I haven't discovered yet! The battery life is insane! I've used it in gps mode for over 7hrs this week and it still has 19days of battery life. I nearly bought from garmin but the payment wouldn't go through... I ended up with a black Friday discount and got it for just under ÂŁ700!

This is my first watch like this and my first Garmin.I’m so pleased w/ this watch for so many reasons. First is the health and exercise tracking. I had a triple bypass 5 years ago I’m 55 now and the heart, exercise and sleep tracking are amazing.I bought this for an endurance paddle race, The Texas Water Safari. This is a 262 mile race in the Texas heat you have 100 hours to complete. My first year i got lost twice and my phone constantly lost service. I’m excited to have the mapping on my wrist and of course the best in class battery and solar. The watch face is large but necessary for the battery and even so the watch is very comfortable and light. It’s definitely a watch for serious endurance racers.I’m a Garmin Fan for Life now ❤️

Fast forward to today Jan 8 the battery life is 11D it’s steadily losing 4 days in a single day and it’s all factory settings and pulse ox is not on all the time. For me, not enough of an upgrade from a Fenix 7X solar to justify the price.
3 October 2024

I'm an older, casual hiker and biker, for fun, not an pro level athlete. I watched the reviews online and figured this would be a good upgrade for me since my older eyes could use a little more brightness and clarity on a small watch screen, increased battery battery life and the ECG would be nice to play with. The screen was nice, I think I noticed a difference, but I'm not 100%, it was not night and day to me. I only noticed about a week of battery life increase per the watches estimation, which I do understand is a nice bump, but since I'm home almost every night, that little bump was life changing for me for in endurance. I also could not get any "conclusive" reading from the ECG, which was disappointing to me.My shopping and return experience with Play Better ... MoreI'm an older, casual hiker and biker, for fun, not an pro level athlete. Great watch, I had the Enduro 2 before. Not sure if the newer solar function helps or whether the watch uses more power but I really see no change in battery life. You Definately can see the screen easier through the Sapphire glass.Bluetooth seems to work a bit farther , all in all a bit better , not really worth it if you have the enduro 2 though imo unless you just have to have the kadtest like me. . . lol!The picture shown is without backlight with kitchen lighting nearby. The second Pic is with backlight on.The flashlight is brighter and easy to place on red if needed.

Never going back to Apple…amazing!
20 December 2024

I have had two Apple Watches and while the features are great, the battery life was horrible. I love the enduro 3. Have had it two weeks wearing it 24/7 only to take off while in the shower and I am still at 48% battery. The watch syncs well to the iPhone, I get notifications but the workout tracking and sleep tracking is amazing. The first day, I did a strength training workout. Selected strength and started. Heart rate tracking was great, love you can track sets. The greatest part, after the workout, the watch could tell I did bench and synced to the garmin connect to show all the sets, targeted muscle groups and how long to recover. Also, sleep tracking and garmin coach…so many features to talk about. If you are on the fence, don’t be.

Not a battery king, barely a prince
1 November 2024

Thought this was going to be the battery king, it’s barely a prince! I have had numerous Garmin watches from the forerunners to Fenix 6, 7 and I even tried out the 8. The 8 is WAY too expensive for what you get. One of the reasons I got this cause it was $300 cheaper and the battery claims on this were literally insane! I guess they were so inane because they’re not real! lol Maybe I have a defective unit, but this thing isn’t getting ANYWHERE near the battery claims that’s advertised!! First battery cycle was 16 days, with a TON of sun and NOT a ton of GPS, Not quite the up to “90 days with solar” that’s advertised and 36 days “without”. I tried to love it, but the unfortunate reality is that I’m barely getting better battery life with this as I was getting with ... MoreThought this was going to be the battery king, it’s barely a prince! First battery cycle was 16 days, with a TON of sun and NOT a ton of GPS, Not quite the up to “90 days with solar” that’s advertised and 36 days “without”. I tried to love it, but the unfortunate reality is that I’m barely getting better battery life with this as I was getting with the forerunner 965 amoled which I routinely got 12-14 days worth.. So for a $900 watch that makes the battery boasts that it does, it doesn’t even come close to what it claims it can do. I love the concept of the solar charging but it’s more a gimmick than actually helpful. If a TANK with a battery this size and a MIP display can only BARELY beat out an amoled display watch that’s significantly smaller there is something REALLY wrong here! I won’t be duped by Garmin’s MIP displays battery life “claims” again. The GPS Activity “estimates” it gives you before you start activity we’re also WAY off. In reality the actual burn rate resulted in 25% less battery life than what it was telling me it could go. It gave me an estimate of 68 hours at the start of a 2.5 hour run. The actual burn rate equaled a dead watch in 50 hours, or 18 hours shy of what it said it could do. What good are having features like that if they are so inaccurate? 25% is a HUGE discrepancy! Sufficient say, I’m returning it cause it’s either a defective unit or Garmin’s claims have once again FAR surpassed reality. Maybe I’ll try one again someday if it actually works as advertised but not going to hold my breath.

This watch crashed all the time. The software is clearly not ready/ it’s poorly designed?- Music would stutter when running and moving arms out of direct line with headphones.- Would often restarts and take over a minute or two to turn back on after doing simple tasks such as clearing notifications or loading maps.- Maps were very laggy, on a longer ride it meant missing turns, also not possible to have heart rate and maps on the same screen.- Sleep times completely off. Some sleeps when I fell asleep and woke up at 00:00-07:30 registered as 03:00-06:30 definitely way off the mark.- Material feels cheap for such an expensive watch.- Daily workout suggestions just randomly decided to suggest nothing for the next 7 days(the max is goes to) , pretty annoying when ... MoreThis watch crashed all the time. Over 15mm is quite noticeable.- Screen is not nice to looks at, low res MIP the same, if not worse than my old Polar Vantage V which is over 5 years old.- Optical heart rate monitor is also just as unreliable as my old polar and requires a chest strap to be accurate to rely on for heart rate based excercise.- altimeter completely wrong even after calibrating once, after calibration my apartment one day was 8m high(realistic) and the next day 44m high (inaccurate) not very reassuring for a premium watch that you want to rely on to measure the height of jumps when kitesurfing.Basically the only good thing is Garmin Pay and the torch, but why pay a ton of money for a watch that you can’t rely on.Just take your plastic bank card and a mini torch.I bet you can buy a pretty incredible mini torch for the extra amount you’re paying for this watch compared with cheaper competitors.Pretty audacious to charge this high of a price tag for an incomplete product. This is comparable to much less premium watches. All in all quite a shame. This product was returned by me after one week of ownership due to the huge list of flaws listed above.Maybe I just got unlucky. But if you read the Reddit reviews and other posts elsewhere I believe this to be rather not the case

Switched from Apple Watch -- wow!
8 January 2025

As an Apple Watch user since nearly the original release, I realized I was paying enough monthly fees to get the Apple Watch to give me the kind of insights and features that come free with the Garmin to justify exploring whether it makes sense to cancel all of them and make the switch.I didn't realize how much more motivating the Garmin infrastructure would be to drive my fitness to new heights.I valued getting phone notifications on my wrist with the Apple Watch, but I rarely took actions on the watch. It usually served as a reason to ignore the buzzing phone or to grab the phone and take action. It usually served as a reason to ignore the buzzing phone or to grab the phone and take action. In this use case, the Garmin shines and even basic interactions like responding "OK" or "Yes"/"No" to a text have been fine. Apple Watch has a more robust app store, for sure, but with the built-in functionality of the Garmin watch, I don't really miss it.The insights I get from the Garmin are far superior than what I had cobbled together with several subscription apps. The Garmin Morning Report feels indispensable. The ability to set cardio training based on specific races coming up has been great and pushed me to train differently -- and resulted in a personal best effort in my latest race.Battery life is insane. I'm doing a LOT of activities and it looks like about 3+ weeks between charges will be the norm.I did a lab test for VO2 Max, heart rate zones, etc. The Garmin was within a small rounding error vs the lab studies. The lab tech geeked out with me comparing the two, and he said he is going to consider swapping his Apple Watch Ultra 2 for a Garmin after seeing how they stacked up.The only disappointment is the strength training interface. I'm still using my Fitbod app -- the only app I continue to subscribe to that I had hoped to replace. Hopefully Garmin will make an acquisition and elevate this tracking in the future.

This Is An Exceptional Watch

You have no idea how much you need this feature until you have it. I use it everyday/night. Oh, and it has a strobe light feature, but I have not used that yet.- The buttons have a good, firm feel to them and don't seem to get accidently pressed when putting on or taking off a backpack or running vest.- User interface is pretty easy to navigate after an initial learning curve.- Maps/Navigation feature is absolutely fantastic. My wife and I just spent a week in the Rocky Mtn. National Park and several times I had to reference this feature to ensure we were on track and it works extremely well. I hope to dive into more of the navigation features so I can really leverage all it has to offer.Cons: (And, I hope Garmin takes note of these and makes some adjustments)- The speaker is not very loud and the vibration not very intense, so it's easy to miss prompts during workouts, races, and even normal runs. As someone with partial hearing loss, this is extremely frustrating. I have not found any way to adjust these levels so far, but having this ability would be very helpful.- The notification feature is driving me a bit crazy. I turned off notifications for things like "breaking news" or other prompts my phone would normally provide me. I still want to receive text prompts, but so far, I get everything on my watch and haven't figured out how to only get what I want.- Some of the data displayed on the main screen is extremely small, which in my case requires reading glasses to see with my old eyes. This is also the case on other screens where there is definitely enough screen space to use a larger font size. This is truly a great watch, yes it has a couple quirks, but overall, I consider this a smart purchase, a great value, and I HIGHLY recommend it!
