I bought this watch mainly due to the fact that the battery life is so much better than my Apple Watch.I have had it about two weeks now and the battery lasted me about 7 days including a half hour tracked activity each day plus around four additional hours of tracked activities as well as getting used to the menu system etc. I'm sure with Ultratrac enabled for GPS you could get 8-10 days without chargingThe Garmin Connect app is a fantastic window into helping you achieve your fitness goals and the Garmin IQ store has lots of watch faces , data screens, apps etc which data hungry people like me would love. The only negatives for me is that its not touch screen but you do get used to it pretty quickly, and the screen is no where near apple or for that matter ... MoreI bought this watch mainly due to the fact that the battery life is so much better than my Apple Watch.I have had it about two weeks now and the battery lasted me about 7 days including a half hour tracked activity each day plus around four additional hours of tracked activities as well as getting used to the menu system etc. The only negatives for me is that its not touch screen but you do get used to it pretty quickly, and the screen is no where near apple or for that matter Casio WSD F30 screens.I can live with that though. Also if you want Garmin pay, and fall detection you need to get the Fenix 5X plus or the newer 6, 6X or 6X solar as far as I am aware

Very good running watch. Value for money. Bought this on sale and worth every penny. Used this for about 150km running outdoors and some trail running and hiking included.Topo maps works like a charm when we went kayaking. You can see where you are heading even if you are new to the area.Used as daily driver. Only thing I miss is the LTE enabled apple watch 4 to make calls and the apple pay. But I have my phone with me all the time so it is not a deal breaker.

Fabulous watch that combined with Garmin Connect website, entices you to push yourself harder each day in training. Wonderful advice on under or over training messages. Only 2 complaints.1. The estimated VO2 Max reliance, requires 2 runs per fortnight of more that 10 minutes each run. (I don't do much running if any.) In this area, there is little account for other sports apart from cycling and running (It is an all sports watch). The 2nd problem is - every few days, the ALTITUDE reading becomes inaccurate showing -ve altitude. This also causes your stair climb upwards work to be less than it should be. Still I am very pleased I bought Fenix 5X to replace a Vivoactive 3. Great Watch.
Great watch does everything it is advertised to do. I use this watch when I swim in the ocean, ride my bike and run and the distances are very accurate. My only concern with this product, which is very justified, is the band. While sup surfing in Bali I was hit by a wave and the watch was ripped off my wrist, never to be seen again. Prior to this event, I had noticed on a few occasions, the band had come out of the two rubber lugs which hold it tight and snug to ones wrist. I adjusted it on at least three occasions and can't bet sure it wasn't like this again prior to me loosing it, but it is definitely something I am now very conscious of, and never wear it in the surf, unless it is under my wetsuit sleeve. So impressed with this watch I bought another one - same model, when I returned to Australia. Highly recommend. Two of the things I really like about this watch are1:- it connects to Strava, so I now don't have to use my phone or cycle computer to record my distances etc, especially handy when I go running and swimming.2:- it notifies me of emails, texts and phone call, so I don't have to drag my phone out of my pocket when I'm riding to read see who is calling me and therefore I get to choose if I want to answer the call.
Great watch, especially at now-reduced prices. Top of Fenix 5 line, tons of features. In reality, the only things that Fenix 6 has over this one are Body Battery and SPo2 sensor stuff. Which is nice, but bang per dollar this one kills everything else.Keep in mind that this is a BIG watch. It also uses 26mm straps, which kinda give an idea how big it is.Is fenix6 better? Maybe. Is it worth upgrade or twice the price? Really not sure. I'm definitely skipping 6 line.
The most comfortable watch I have worn, I love the large face and rugged look of the Fenix5. The best part is that it only requires charging every 2 weeks if you don’t have GPS running in the background. Built in heart rate monitor seems fairly accurate but at times is slow to register and will never be as good as a chest strap in my opinion. The snap on bands are brilliant if you need to replace it or want to change the color. Very very happy with this purchase and would recommend the Fenix5 as a great hard wearing all round watch.
I have been looking at the Garmin for a while and recently it was on special so i decide to buy. When i first opened it and switched it on, it didn't want to pair with my mobile device. i had to figure you how to reset it before i could try again. Finally got it working but sometimes clicking buttons it didn't respond. So finally started playing around and was really surprised that i could configure settings using the mobile app.The heart rate monitor surprised me a bit. standing and walking put my heart rate at 110 and while doing a crazy workout my heart only went to 120 - i have nothing to compare it to so i am not sure, but its not correct. The final nail in the coffin was how uncomfortable the strap is, i have pretty skinny arms and wear it on my right arm, ... MoreI have been looking at the Garmin for a while and recently it was on special so i decide to buy. The fenix 5x is a very satisfying product. The features are great, its easy to use, and very flexible in terms of customisation. I have to say that it definitely met my expectations, which for the price were very high. There is a good range of widgets and alternative watch faces to add to the ones it come with which keeps it fresh and interesting. The sports tracking features work really well and the maps are brilliant considering the screen size. It is large and I don't have a big wrist but it still fits well, is comfortable, and looks great. I'm very happy with this device.
This watch (almost) does it all!! Endless functions, data and information for all of your training requirements. So easy to customize and personalize with the IQ Connect app and the snap-off bands.Comfortable and has a nice weighting size to it.Only downsides are no music storage and no Garmin pay. I carry my phone with me everywhere so it wasn’t worth the extra cash getting the 5 plus model.LOVE. THIS. WATCH!!!
