Great spec but lacking software support

I rate it 2 stars as it is actually great for running with GPS tracking.

I had a Fenix 5s (2018) which I loved. Unfortunately stopped working after 4 years (died during an ocean swim)… so not sure what that means for longevity of water resistance? But I loved it so much I now have the Fenix 6s bought on sale. The ‘s’ sizing is definitely better for smaller wrists. I love the garmin connect app and the long battery life (the Apple Watch battery life would annoy me!). The watch/app definitely inspires me to do more and train harder. I love being able to track long distance/multi day hikes both distance and elevation and save satellite image maps of where I hiked. I do a variety of sports/activities. If you only ran/walked then I’d suggest the cheaper forerunner.

This is what really dissipation me the most on this watch, I have had other garmins that were better. I switched to fitBit after a software update bricked my device, as FitBit is known to do, and came back to Garmin because I remembered liking the move notification better.Issues that are software related and probably apply to many of garmin's products:1. Sleep mode can't be turned on or off, it is supposed to automatically detect when your sleeping. The softer ware also has a 'sleep' power mode that automatically kicks in at a certain time but the sleep detection seams to work better if you happen to go to bed when you told the software when you were going to bed. So if you decide to take an afternoon nap the watch might not record it.2. Separate power modes: You can't choose different power modes unless your in an 'activity' that allows you to choose your mode. So if your night time power save mode turns off blueTooth, and altimeter but your running low on power during the day and want to save battery by turning off all the gadgets besides BlueTooth, then good luck.3. IQ: activity detection- I have only had this pick up activity once in the whole time I have owned it, and its super sad as I used to own a VivioSmart that could tell if I was biking or jogging and it would automatically start recording those activities. It wasn't perfect but was so much better then the current software. This was part of the reason I got this watch. I have started biking many times and not had the IQ software pick up the activity so that is the reason for the rating.Overall I like the watch and am glad I bought it but it isn't really worth the full price IMO.

I bought the Garmin Fenix6s Pro sapphire watch. I like to track my steps, my runs and my work outs. I have had a Garmin before and liked them but this one is on a whole new level, its amazing you could probably get to the moon with it. It can do so much and still maintain a good few days battery life which I want I don't like to charge my watch constantly it does take a little while to fully charge though just over an hour but I feel I'm being harsh as I gotten used to my phone being able to fully charge in 30mins I may be a little impatient but it's only because I love it and want to keep it on!! If I use GPS once or twice per day to track a walk or run, HR and pulse ox, my phone is linked to it to receive messages and reply through the watch if I use all functions everyday I get about 4-5days battery before I need a charge which is pretty good! I love the race prediction times you get they are incredibly accurate even off just one walk and run! I like that it gives recovery times after each exercise and the impact each session has had on your fitness. It's great that I can upload music to it and play it without having to also carry my phone with me! It has its own connect app to track and compare days, join the garmin community enter challanges and earn badges to keep you motivated. It also has a store to download other watch faces you can even make a picture your background watch face!I use it in the gym to keep track of my weights workout it's great it was slightly confusing to use at first but I tried to figure it out whilst working out so wasn't concentrating properly once I got the gist of it it's super simple it mostly tracks reps accurately but it does depend on the exercise ab exercises not counted as well but are easily abs quickly edited pull ups push ups etc found it's pretty accurate in tracking! The amount of exercises this watch can track is unbelievable. I have yet to swim in it but I imagine it will be just as good as it is tracking everything else. The watch itself is very comfortable to wear I was a little worried buying online the face might still be too big as I have very small wrists but it sits nicely and is very comfortable. It also just looks good, it doesn't look like an activity tracker which I love about it. I don't feel like I need to take it off if I'm dressing up a little, it still looks nice and easy to style with other clothes than gym wear.I haven't been able to use the Garmin pay as my bank is not currently using the Garmin pay service which was disappointing but no reflection on the watch but cannot comment on how well this works. The watch it super simple to set up and use so even if your not very tech savvy you will be able to use it with ease. The only this that disappoints me is the sleep tracking I dont feel it tracks sleep accurately I have a baby and am up multiple times in the night but because I'm not actively standing up and walking every time it says I'm sleeping when I'm awake I'm hoping this is down to only having it for a short while and it needs more information to accurately track it but this is my only negative about the watch and its very small to say how much this watch can do. I would still buy and recommend it.If you want a watch that can do everything and more and still look good this is the watch for you I can't recommend it enough.

Spent many hours looking at options before choosing the Fenix 6S Sapphire, and now I have it I'm delighted. Went for the light gold which is (in my opinion) the standout colourway of the Fenix 6 family. The shale grey suede band feels top quality, & I'll be saving that for occasional ware, while the sand silicon band is comfy and ideal for daily/sporting use until I pick up a nylon hook strap.I've had a couple of days of trying out activities and the tracking & health features are superb. Everyday smartwatch features are surprisingly good too - I was afraid I would be compromising on that coming from a 2nd gen Android Wear watch, but actually everything is very usable, from simple actioning of emails & texts (dismiss/archive/delete/etc) to a selection of pre-set ... MoreSpent many hours looking at options before choosing the Fenix 6S Sapphire, and now I have it I'm delighted. Everyday smartwatch features are surprisingly good too - I was afraid I would be compromising on that coming from a 2nd gen Android Wear watch, but actually everything is very usable, from simple actioning of emails & texts (dismiss/archive/delete/etc) to a selection of pre-set replies for Whatsapp. Button-only control becomes second nature very quickly and avoids the eternal fingerprint ugliness of a touch screen UI. Screen isn't quite as impressive as the Samsungs & similar, but daylight readability is superb, and of course the payoff is the fantastic battery life (which makes sleep tracking so much more viable as overnight charging isn't needed!).I think the light gold colourway is perhaps a little overpriced versus the other 6S Pro & Solar versions, especially considering the only real material difference is the suede strap. Nonetheless, the price from First Class was the best I could find, beating Garmin's own by miles. Order arrived next day by DPD, well packed, with good despatch and tracking info throughout. Would happily recommend or use again, thanks!

This is a fantastic piece of equipment. It was bought after much research as an upgrade to my previous Fitbit Versa, and it's more than lived up to expectations. The watch itself feels very solidly built, much more like a "real watch" than a gadget. The black-and-carbon casing looks far better than I was expecting - pictures really don't do it justice. The sapphire screen is clear and easy to read in daylight, and the backlight does the job in dimmer conditions - you can tell it's designed to be used outdoors, though, as this is where the screen looks its best. While it's obviously not as vibrant as an AMOLED, it's definitely growing on me, particularly given the significantly better battery life and the fact it's always-on.While the watch is fairly chunky on my relatively small wrist, it's not too heavy and sits comfortably. The included silicone strap is secure and comfortable, but doesn't really do the watch any favours in the looks department, so I'll be upgrading that.Functionally, there are absolutely tons of features to explore - great if like me you enjoy tinkering and customising. The use of buttons instead of a touchscreen does mean there's more of a learning curve than on most smart devices. Unlike other smart watches I've used this isn't intuitive straight out of the box, and does require a bit of effort to get the most out of the features. The included documentation is clear and there's plenty of online help though, so with a bit of reading it's all fairly straightforward. All in all, the Fenix 6s is a powerful bit of kit. I'm really pleased with it and I'm looking forward to getting to grips with it properly.

This is the best Garmin Fenix yet. Most bigger mechanical watches are around 42-45 mm, and the normal Fenix 6 is quite cumbersome at 47 mm. The 6S really hits the sweetspot as you only lose 0.1" of screen space and a little bit of battery for a huge (5 mm) decrease in case size, as well as a significant decrease in lug-to-lug length which ultimately determines how the watch wears. The main difference is that the bezels are significantly smaller and don't scream "I'm a sportsperson, please look at this massive sports computer on my wrist". The unnecessary screws aren't there, and overall the design language is significantly more subtle. The full functionality is still retained, in a more pleasant form factor that is much easier and more comfortable to wear ... MoreThis is the best Garmin Fenix yet. The unnecessary screws aren't there, and overall the design language is significantly more subtle. The full functionality is still retained, in a more pleasant form factor that is much easier and more comfortable to wear continuously on a daily basis, which is the entire point of these watches. The screen technology, while some complain about their dimness and lower resolution, is an excellent compromise as it is infinitely more visible in direct sunlight than any other screen type, and comes with the advantage of up to twentyfold the battery life compared to an Apple watch depending on the usage scenario. All the while, the Fenix is taking significantly more measurements, that are also more accurate, as well as logging more useful statistics. Though the compromise for weight is understandable, a watch at this price should come with the option of having a full metal case, rather than being majority plastic. The lugs seem like the most likely point of failure, unfortunately for strap enthusiasts. This is the best everyday active watch, hands down, for the majority of people. I must also praise First Class Watches for their excellent communication and customer service!

Lovely small watch which fits on my narrow wrists, but smaller battery needs care in managing and won't do 4 days without recharge. Found recharging every day was the way to go if you want the O2 sensor on and exercise most days. The sleep analysis is getting much closer to reality over my previous watches, impressive. Finish is great looking but some of the watch faces require reading glasses for me to read, unlike the forerunner 245 that it replaced. Took a while but was able to get most of the faces I use bigger eventually. A reasonable compromise performance for size, as a runner I would go back to a forerunner next time, but if you mix up your sports this might suit you better, especially if you have a smaller wrist like me.

I previously had a forerunner and was able to make it work for me really well. Unfortunately it died. After a year or so I finally got the fenix 6s, and thus far its been great. I'm still working on customizing it to my liking, but it's easy to work with. I think the garmin connect updates have all been steps in a positive direction. And the additional features of the watch are pretty fun for a data nerd like myself. Especially paired with the new hrm-pro, I'm quite interested to test out the new power measurements in xc skiing, overnight pulseox seems to work alright, and being able to do HRV through garmin and not a 3rd party like I used to have to is quite nice. I'd like to see a few more garmin connect updates, particularly related to generating a functional training log for athletes/coaches to analyze. But not many workout apps I've tried do a good job on that front. In any case, I'm impressed. Battery life has been excellent. The wrist HR monitor is about like any other watch, not really reliable, particularly for exercise. But I don't knock the product for that. If you want that data it's pretty much an absolute necessity to have a chest strap of some kind. The price is a bit steep, but hopefully it will continue to last and make it worth the purchase.
