Generally good watch however develops severe issue

Generally good watch however develops severe issues after about a year. The only thing I am not happy with is unfortunately a critical one. I got my first watch about 2 years ago and it suddenly did not turn on anymore after 1 year . I got a replacement under warrenty and after another year the battery power more or less suddenly decreases drastically. I now have to charge it every second day and i keeps decreasing. Extremely disappointing.

Delighted with my new Garmin. It's really helped me fine tune my training and interestingly understand my sleep pattern. Easy to use and set up despite me being a bit challenged in the tech department. Plus the assistant at Rebel Sport Whitfords shopping centre who helped was attentive and knowledgeable which enabled me to purchase the correct Garmin for my training.I would highly recommend this watch for masters athletes. We can't train as we did and this Garmin helps to identify training areas that need more attention and yes sometimes that is rest!!!

Love this watch

I absolutely LOVE this watch! I’ve been a true blue apple fan for YEARS! But I decided to give this one a try due to its maps, many workout options, and the great features that could be used for survival. It looks gorgeous, I have a really small wrist and the 6s isn’t too big. It looks really dressy. I like that a lot compared to the Apple Watch as it tends to be more sporty and casual and doesn’t look as good with skirts and dresses. My ONLY downfall that I’ve found so far is that it doesn’t sync as seamlessly with my phone (for example, my steps don’t sync into apple health and over into my iTrackBites to give me my extra points for activity) so that’s a little bummer but I’m thinking that’s fixable and I’ve just not figured out how to do it yet. Love the extended battery life on this! Way better than having to charge daily! This will last a week or longer between charges!

My 2nd Garmin Fenix
5 May 2023

I had a Fenix 5s (2018) which I loved. Unfortunately stopped working after 4 years (died during an ocean swim)… so not sure what that means for longevity of water resistance? But I loved it so much I now have the Fenix 6s bought on sale. The ‘s’ sizing is definitely better for smaller wrists. I love the garmin connect app and the long battery life (the Apple Watch battery life would annoy me!). The watch/app definitely inspires me to do more and train harder. I love being able to track long distance/multi day hikes both distance and elevation and save satellite image maps of where I hiked. I do a variety of sports/activities. If you only ran/walked then I’d suggest the cheaper forerunner.

I absolutely wanted a watch that could store music and have GPS. After a long search and watching dozens of videos on Youtube on a vast variety of smart watches, the Forerunner 745 and Fenix Pro were the two I was left to decide from. I bought both, wore both, evaluated both.....I was still on the fence. Then I thought to myself, if I'm going to spend over $500 on a watch, I want it to last and be protected as best as possible. Sapphire was the ultimate protection I could have without having worries if ever I was to ding, hit or regrettably scratch it. Yes!! there are films that you can apply on watch for protection but, these get used and need replacement. I knew then that sapphire would be an incomparable material and offer ultimate protection for my investment. ... MoreI absolutely wanted a watch that could store music and have GPS. It might of been an extra $150 but, it was well worth it for my peace of mind : )

I bought the Garmin Fenix6s Pro sapphire watch. I like to track my steps, my runs and my work outs. I have had a Garmin before and liked them but this one is on a whole new level, its amazing you could probably get to the moon with it. It can do so much and still maintain a good few days battery life which I want I don't like to charge my watch constantly it does take a little while to fully charge though just over an hour but I feel I'm being harsh as I gotten used to my phone being able to fully charge in 30mins I may be a little impatient but it's only because I love it and want to keep it on!! If I use GPS once or twice per day to track a walk or run, HR and pulse ox, my phone is linked to it to receive messages and reply through the watch if I use all functions ... MoreI bought the Garmin Fenix6s Pro sapphire watch. If I use GPS once or twice per day to track a walk or run, HR and pulse ox, my phone is linked to it to receive messages and reply through the watch if I use all functions everyday I get about 4-5days battery before I need a charge which is pretty good! I love the race prediction times you get they are incredibly accurate even off just one walk and run! I like that it gives recovery times after each exercise and the impact each session has had on your fitness. It's great that I can upload music to it and play it without having to also carry my phone with me! It has its own connect app to track and compare days, join the garmin community enter challanges and earn badges to keep you motivated. It also has a store to download other watch faces you can even make a picture your background watch face!I use it in the gym to keep track of my weights workout it's great it was slightly confusing to use at first but I tried to figure it out whilst working out so wasn't concentrating properly once I got the gist of it it's super simple it mostly tracks reps accurately but it does depend on the exercise ab exercises not counted as well but are easily abs quickly edited pull ups push ups etc found it's pretty accurate in tracking! The amount of exercises this watch can track is unbelievable. I have yet to swim in it but I imagine it will be just as good as it is tracking everything else. The watch itself is very comfortable to wear I was a little worried buying online the face might still be too big as I have very small wrists but it sits nicely and is very comfortable. It also just looks good, it doesn't look like an activity tracker which I love about it. I don't feel like I need to take it off if I'm dressing up a little, it still looks nice and easy to style with other clothes than gym wear.I haven't been able to use the Garmin pay as my bank is not currently using the Garmin pay service which was disappointing but no reflection on the watch but cannot comment on how well this works. The watch it super simple to set up and use so even if your not very tech savvy you will be able to use it with ease. The only this that disappoints me is the sleep tracking I dont feel it tracks sleep accurately I have a baby and am up multiple times in the night but because I'm not actively standing up and walking every time it says I'm sleeping when I'm awake I'm hoping this is down to only having it for a short while and it needs more information to accurately track it but this is my only negative about the watch and its very small to say how much this watch can do. I would still buy and recommend it.If you want a watch that can do everything and more and still look good this is the watch for you I can't recommend it enough.

Sensible sized sports computer.
9 April 2023

Lovely small watch which fits on my narrow wrists, but smaller battery needs care in managing and won't do 4 days without recharge. Found recharging every day was the way to go if you want the O2 sensor on and exercise most days. The sleep analysis is getting much closer to reality over my previous watches, impressive. Finish is great looking but some of the watch faces require reading glasses for me to read, unlike the forerunner 245 that it replaced. Took a while but was able to get most of the faces I use bigger eventually. A reasonable compromise performance for size, as a runner I would go back to a forerunner next time, but if you mix up your sports this might suit you better, especially if you have a smaller wrist like me.

I previously had a forerunner and was able to make it work for me really well. Unfortunately it died. After a year or so I finally got the fenix 6s, and thus far its been great. I'm still working on customizing it to my liking, but it's easy to work with. I think the garmin connect updates have all been steps in a positive direction. And the additional features of the watch are pretty fun for a data nerd like myself. Especially paired with the new hrm-pro, I'm quite interested to test out the new power measurements in xc skiing, overnight pulseox seems to work alright, and being able to do HRV through garmin and not a 3rd party like I used to have to is quite nice. It pairs well with my sleep app and makes it easy to track and log my daily 'health' in a variety of ways. I'd like to see a few more garmin connect updates, particularly related to generating a functional training log for athletes/coaches to analyze. But not many workout apps I've tried do a good job on that front. In any case, I'm impressed. Battery life has been excellent. The wrist HR monitor is about like any other watch, not really reliable, particularly for exercise. But I don't knock the product for that. If you want that data it's pretty much an absolute necessity to have a chest strap of some kind. The price is a bit steep, but hopefully it will continue to last and make it worth the purchase.

Worthy investment for a triathlete's all-in-one

I've had my Fenix 6s for almost a year and maybe my review could help. I upgraded from a 2 year-old Vivoactive HR which I bought for heart rate monitoring during simple exercises. I chose Garmin because their heart rate monitoring during any activity anywhere on the planet has been impecable for me. I improved my health that I became a triathlete and I needed more performance metrics and for navigation. I debated between adding a bike computer, another swim-specific watch or spend more for this model. As of the time I bought this in 2020, this was the only model that can measure heart rates at the wrist while swimming. That feature got me because I tend to lose things or forget items, so I just strap this and go. Comparing costs, the difference can be seen as convenience during a multi-sport event or the financial impact I'd have if I lose one, more so if during a race. I can't seem to fumble with a chest strap or imagine my bike computer break with the worst crash or be stolen. Second to rave about is, as I used this later on, I learned that the other features and performance metrics are very helpful most especially for the sports physiology geeks. The terminologies may differ but are relatable. Those helped me improve my health not just my performance. It doesn't replace medical grade devices but with time, the statistical variability approximates it. After almost a year for me, the heart rate range matches my recent doctor's data. This model is easily compatible with Garmin's and other brands' accessories so there's room for growth. I have the running dynamics pod, speed and cadence bike sensors, and now this sends heart rate data via bluetooth to popular cycling apps. It also synchronizes with training and fitness apps seamlessly, so training and racing is easier. I can mount this on my bike for a long ride for navigation then take it off right after. On races, I just press a button during transitions which saves me time and helps me focus on my performance than on my gear. This watch is truly customizable, from the screen to straps. The gray and rose gold design is subtle so it doesn't scream expensive among most people but do get nods among certain groups. The saphire glass is really clear and durable as I've accidentally scraped this on metal car parts or hit this on the pool deck on a backstroke. What may seem a hairline scratch, can be wiped off. I used to buy protective screens for my old one which eventually chipped and cut me, then failed to protect my old watch, defeating its purpose. I can read from the screen even if I'm on 50F open water temp and with polarized goggles. The silicone strap are sturdy and it can be swapped easily even with third-party straps as long as you can find the right spring lugs to fit securely. Mine doesn't show a large dog's playful nips but after a year, it did get soft but still intact. So that's how I learned I can replace the straps because the same powder gray with rose gold buckles aren't available in Garmin as of this writing. And the battery is pretty decent as long as you know your consumption with each activity and with each app working. I've managed to adjust the face, apps, widgets, connections, and brightness that I can finish a 70.3 triathlon from 1 charge. I charged on the bike for a virtual 140.6 on a hot summer day.The only criticisms I have are the not so user-friendly guide from the box that introduces the watch's features easily, the print was tiny that I had to go online and read from my laptop. Currently, there is a lack of the same colored replacement straps. The bezel is not as tough as the screen. The small screen is hard to look at when mounted on the bike and with shades, so that might be a point towards a bike computer. A chest strap is needed for that and if you need heart rate variability data. And the rosey tinge has faded a bit.
