Lovely looking watch body, with some great features, however the supplied strap is on the small side so if you have anything above 190mm wrist circumference the buckle is on the limits, and it makes the feel of the strap really uncomfortable and irritating. My wrist is 190mm exactly and the strap is on the third to last hole meaning it isn't really secure as the tip of the strap misses the securing hoop, plus it's still not comfortable on this setting, but moving further out means the watch is insecure. I never had this in the past with previous (cheaper) Garmin devices as they always supply a 3 part interchangeable strap system which could cope with wrists well over 200mm in diameter, this is cost cutting gone mad. The annoying thing is that the size of the watch is a perfect size for my wrist, go figure....Trying to solve the strap issue is not easy, the limited cheaper Garmin replacement straps available on Digitec are the same length as the one supplied, and if you want anything longer you have to pay 200 plus CHF for their premium straps, it's a con when you have already paid over 500 CHF for the device, it should come suitable for use for any adult to use. I had to revert to buying a longer no name replacement strap from a well known global online seller who I really detest, but I had no other choice if I wanted to keep the product. If you have slim wrists and don't mind an oversized watch I say go for it, if your wrists are on the chunky side you may want to reconsider and buy something that fits and is comfortable out of the box

I have owned a Fenix 5s sapphire glass for the past 5 years on my left wrist which has flower and lace tattoo. Never did I have a problem. I wanted to upgrade to the 7s solar so I did. My biggest regret is that I sold my 5S already. Once I got my watch it never wanted to read my heart rate but maybe for 2 to 30 minutes out of the day. Very sporadic if it would catch your heart rate. So I returned it and got another one thinking it was something wrong with Watch. Shortly after getting a new one I realized it was doing the same thing. My husband and brought to my attention he wondered if there was a chance it had something to do with my tattoo. So Iām guessing we clearly found out that it is the tattoo that it will not read through. Although the watch is beautiful it is pretty useless if it doesnāt read my heart rate. I have since brought it to Garmins attention. It seems like this day and age you would want to make sure it works through tattoos means everybody has them. I guess they changed the lights on the back from the 5 to the 7 and that is why the five works for me but the 7 didnāt. I will post a picture of my wrist so you can see that it is not fully covered in tattoo.

Im on my 5th Generation Garmin. I bought one two months ago (at a trusted retailer) and had multiple issues so returned it and bought from Garmin online. Set up was so smooth and finding GPS quick. The biggest disappointment is the Solar does not seem to extend the life of the battery by much if at all. I used to charge my Fenix 5 every 5-7 days depending on how much GPS was used. However with my 5 when in GPS mode my battery died in 7.5 hours with all other Bluetooth features turned off. in doing ultra running events for 2023 that are 10-15 hours i upgraded to Solar as it sounds like GPS mode is projected to last over a day. I have not tested GPS from full battery yet, but have found that doing 90 min GPS it drops by about 15-20% while non GPS mode it's already ...Ā MoreIm on my 5th Generation Garmin. Falls short of expectationsI was very excited to finally try out the Fenix 7 sapphire solar because Iāve had the 6X for the last 2 years and watched ALL the YouTube videos comparing the 7 to the Epix 2. I kept going back and forth between the two. Almost ALL the videos mention the dimness of the sapphire screen but I knew I had to actually see it for myself to make up my mind. Sadly, the screen was even worse than I was expecting. Especially on cloudy days the screen acted more like a mirror and was insanely reflective. Having to reorient my wrist plus activate the backlight to be able to read the watch at a glance was fairly annoying for a almost $1,000 watch. Sadly, the screen was even worse than I was expecting. Especially on cloudy days the screen acted more like a mirror and was insanely reflective. Having to reorient my wrist plus activate the backlight to be able to read the watch at a glance was fairly annoying for a almost $1,000 watch. Now the features and the GPS accuracy and tracking were wonderful, and I was very pleased! It sensed my pace changes MUCH faster than my 6X which was refreshing! I HATE looking down at my watch KNOWING that Iām going at least a certain pace and the pace on my watch is like 2-3 minutes per mile slower just because Iām running near some trees! The 6X drives me nuts with stuff like that, and seems to take forever to catch up to my actual pace in addition to having fairly inaccurate GPS data! The 7 has definitely upgraded on GPS performance and accuracy and sensitivity which was very nice! Lastly though, the battery was pretty poor, and once again is a FAR cry from Garmin's āestimatesā. It was down to ālow batteryā in less than 5 days. I had the screen brightness set to 50%, HAD TO to semi compensate for the screen dimness. I used the all systems on for 3 of my 6 activities and then the multi band for 3 of the 6. I know the multiband sucks up more juice but was testing the accuracy. The solar charging did almost nothing, and I was fairly intentional about exposing it to the sun as much as I could. That feature was not near as helpful as I had hoped or thought. Itās seems more a marketing gimmick than anything. Granted if all you did was just sit in a chair all day every day directly in the sun not doing any activities with the screen brightness turned off, and turned off almost every other feature the watch has, then you might get close to the āestimatesā of 11 days, or āup to 14 with solar chargingā. Iām returning after testing it out till low battery. This has solidified in my experience that the Sapphire Solar version is not worth the extra $100. The sapphire makes the screen way too dim AND reflective, and is pretty distracting. I only wish the Multiband option was available on the non-sapphire models. Iām trying out the Epix 2 Sapphire next because Iāve read and seen that the amoled display more than breaks through the sapphire lense and you canāt really even tell itās there. If I can get all the features I like and be able to read the screen really well and still get better battery life than the 7s, then itās really a no brainer to me. The 7s Sapphire Solar is simply not worth close to $1,000 to me.
Things I dont like about the Fenix 7s solar sapphire:1. It didnt come with a printed instruction manual.2. If it tracks my temperature, I havent figured that out yet.3. It tries to make fitness fun with incessant virtual badges. Like, everyday I get a new one.4. If I go outside and get 150 lux, my battery percent doesnt go up, doesnt stay stable, but decreases at the same rate as if I didnt take the watch out to charge. I suspect I will read about the charging better later and learn that I need to disable GPS or the compass or something. Heart rate seems very accurate and the watch has helped me understand why I feel the way I do depending on my heart rate.3. I dont like keeping a fitness journal, the watch tracks my workouts for me.4. I like the stopwatch feature so I dont have to use my phone or my brain to time certain exercises.5. I anticipate loving the maps and GPS but the watch is new to me and I havent had the opportunity to use those features.6. It's a beautiful watch and seems well made.
Iāve had the Fenix 7s for about a month and it has exceeded my expectations. It has tons of actually useful features and metrics and it interfaces pretty seamlessly with both Strava and Peloton. Health and workout tracking data is excellent as youād expect, but Iāve also found that the sleep tracking and ārecommendationā features are better and more useful than expected. Garmin Pay works everywhere Iāve tried it so far. You canāt text directly from the watch, but I donāt miss that and itās a small trade-off for the other features gained, in my opinion. I also tried the Garmin Epic gen 2 which has a bright beautiful display, but itās case is 5mm bigger and heavier, so the Fenix 7s was more comfortable for me (Iām 5ā9ā, 155 lbs). Garmin, if you want to squeeze another $900 out of me, make the Epic in a 42mm case! Addition of MTB jumps feature would be nice, but I understand thatās complicated and unreliable on a watch. Watch bands are super easy to switch out - I have some āworkoutā bands and some āworkā bands. Overall, one of my favorite pieces of gear.
I have only had this watch for a little over 3 weeks and have been pleasantly impressed. My first smartwatch was a Garmin Instinct 2 which I lost at a point in time & had been quite happy with it. That watch warmed me up to the benefits of owning a smart watch for my weekly exercise & outdoor activities. The cost of fenix 7S initially held me at bay, but that hurdle got crossed & I feel blessed to have one. So far, I have just used the regular smartwatch features for my exercise routine & daily living, and it surely has stood out as an improvement in the slightly larger screen & clearer text for reading. Also, the layout & size of the data fields is better. One shortage both watches have had is in the heart rate monitoring. Also, the layout & size of the data fields is better. One shortage both watches have had is in the heart rate monitoring. If one goes from a low heart rate rapidly to a high rate it seems to take 7-10 min for them to catch up & be close. But to get around this I found wearing a chest strap monitor for those activities took care of that shortage, which I have used for years by itself. Looking forward to using it for outdoor activities in the coming months hoping I continue to find it being a big step up from the Instinct 2 in how it tracks & shows my progress, with the display of the data fields and how it interacts with my Mini 2. Only thing it lags behind the Instinct 2 is the battery life but considering what I get for it I would not go back now that I have tasted the upgrade. It almost looks like a dress watch & since I have a smaller wrist size, I was glad for the 7S which fits well. I am hoping the Sapphire glass proves out to be good for scratch resistance since I keep things for a long time. At this time the negatives others have mentioned about the glass/watch have not been an issue for me. At this point I have nothing bad to say regarding my experience of it & am hoping for that to continue.

I tried all of the troubleshooting recommendations several times with no luck. I looked at videos online. Finally I looked up on. a basic Google search, why my Fenix wasn't pairing. The solution was to delete my Bluetooth for fenix S Solar on my phone settings, not on the Garmin Connect app, then reinstall it. Bingo! It finally paired. The only other change I wish I'd made was to get the 47 mm face instead of the 42mm.
Iāve been comparison shopping for some timeāalternating between purchasing an Apple Watch or staying with Garmin. Now, the report requires, i.e., resting for 72hrs! As a 67 yr old, Iāve found that my best āfitnessā routine is a workout ethic of 5-6 days/week, so ārestingā isnāt an option! In other words, Iāve ignored the resting requirement, and Iāve continued with my workout routines! More to follow as I get more data gathered for a better fitness profile!
I switched over from an Apple Watch which I loved but itās battery life substantially lacked for hours of hiking.Garmin is able to withstand, track and backtrack.
