I've had this watch for a month now and used it primarily for hiking and running. Expensive? Yep. Worth the price? I say yes. Why? I upgraded from Fenix 5, so many features were familiar, but the 7X adds the Body Battery and Pulse OX functions, among others. You can customize (pretty much endlessly), including the touch screen function to be on or off, or on or off during particular activities. Didn't think I'd like it at all, but I do - makes the maps in particular easier to navigate. Love the flashlight feature, particularly the red light option (used it at night for star gazing to preserve night vision). The watch interface is a great improvement - a ton of info on the watch face, with the "Glance" ("Widgets" on the 5) customizable, as are all of the colors. ... Finally, the battery life is pretty amazing, as advertised - in my experience the solar feature seems to keep you from losing any battery life when you otherwise would, not adding to the charge, but my solar testing conditions haven't been the best. There's a first-thing-in-the-morning summary of sleep, recovery, preparation for exercise, calendar events and weather, complete with a little life-affirming quote (maybe sappy, but I like it) - like everything else with this watch, you can turn this on or off. The logarithms (no different for this watch than any other Garmin model), aren't the most accurate - Recovery Time in particular is vastly overstated; others have written articles about this, but that's not a dig on this watch (and frankly, I'm amazed that they're brave enough to try and estimate that at all and come as close as they do). If the watch got lost or broken would I buy it again? Yes, and quickly. Would I recommend it to a friend? Assuming they could afford it, yes, without reservation. I have tried pretty much every brand of performance watch at one time or another. This is my favorite, by far. Christmas is coming - tell Santa.

I was a longtime user of the Fenix 5x plus - and wore it almost every day for 4 years. The watch performed admirably across multiple events and environments. Wear and Tear led me to upgrading my watch, and I couldn't be happier. The user interface does leave a bit to be desired in terms of navigation, but once you've acclimated, the features, functionality and usage make the watch an independent fitness tracker and coach, without the need to rely on on a distracting phone. The solar functionality is great, and the software has been significantly improved. By far the most pleasant introductions are the morning summaries and body battery - quick, actionable glances to prep me for my day or close down the old day. Suggested workouts are also a welcome approach. ... MoreI was a longtime user of the Fenix 5x plus - and wore it almost every day for 4 years. Garmin asks you to commit, and returns your investment in spades. I look forward to my next Fenix in a few years' time.

Got this as a birthday present for myself since i’ve always wanted to have a built-quality rugged everyday use smartwatch and this is the very first smartwatch i have ever own and i am glad that i’ve waited a long time. Before purchasing it, I did my research and watched so many reviews on YouTube before making my final decision. To be honest, I was going to buy the Apple Watch Ultra but i’m glad that i didn’t because to me, the built quality is excellent! I was already drawn to this watch as if i’m meant to own this. Sure, the screen is not crystal clear like those Amoled or OLED. Although it would be nice to have them but for what it’s built for, i don’t think i need a beautiful Amoled screen. I really appreciate this watch for the way it is. I won’t be using all ... This will be a cool everyday use for me whether i’m at the gym, work, running, hiking, camping, attending occasional parties or events, traveling, or pretty much anywhere.

Lots of bugs in software and doesnt work w/o internet. Some features of teh watch work without internet but the charts dont. It needs to be connected to a phone with the app, with internet. I dont often have internet and I thought this watch was suppose to be an 'áway from cizilization' kind of tool but it isnt.Love the light feature though it kills the battery fast. GPS is okay. I think the buttons are great. Touch screen is helpful sometimes but not at others such as in water. You can set watch to no touch during activities but having a shower or bath isnt a workout.I think Garmin needs to work on their software. I would rather any watch that works reliabliy then a watch with great feautures that isnt reliable. I had thought that this would be a reliable watch ... I would rather any watch that works reliabliy then a watch with great feautures that isnt reliable. I had thought that this would be a reliable watch but i was proven wrong.-buttons dont always work-touch screen swiping sometimes shows a blank screen-heart rate monitor was bad, jumping up to 200bpm when I am riding stationary and then dropping off again.-sleep tracking is bad. Just reliable for lay down and wake up times.
This was a horrible waste of (a lot of) money. If this Fenix is to believed, I am lucky enough to burn roughly 500 calories per hour sitting at my desk. A flight of stairs is worth an amazing 120 calories! At this rate, I should be about 35lbs (skeletal weight only).I guess the good news there is that sometimes, the active calorie count reduces! I just watched it go from 142 down to 138, then start 'toggling' between 139 and 140. Mind you, I've been at my desk the entire time - so aside from maybe 15-20 'active calories' to go downstairs and make some tea... these numbers themselves don't even make any sense. With so much of the functionality (at least for me) stemming from the HRM and 'active calorie count' (which, btw is only 'sometimes' actually 'active ... I loved my VivoActive 3 (battery life being the biggest drawback - as an ultra runner)... so I guess I will just go back to that watch and running with a battery charger in my vest. I don't know if this can be returned or not (I've had it 2 weeks) - as customer service hasn't replied to me in a few days now... so will assume not.Anyone need a $700 paper weight?
This was a gift from my wife a few weeks ago and I love it! I was lukewarm towards smart watches as I'm a long time Rolex fan and battery life on most watches seems to be kind-of short. However, this Fenix 7x Solar provides more tech than I've been able to figure out in 3 weeks, easy to use, all the Garmin map/GPS/Altitude stuff that makes Garmin great; all the health monitoring and a fantastically good battery life, I'm getting somewhere around 25 days of battery charge, at least as best I can tell with it being this new. I like the touch screen functionality, it works but if you accidentally brush up against something the screen isn't activating, it knows when you want to interact with it and otherwise stays on the main screen. The flashlight is very handy; it's a very functional watch and I'm not giving up my Rolex, but will interchange these as needed. I am very impressed with this in the 3 weeks I've had it and still on the learning curve with respect to everything the watch can do. It also easily integrates with my phone and I've added the applicable Garmin apps to match with the watch, just a great smart watch. Oh, it's also waterproof. Great adventure watch!
This purchase was an upgrade to an older Fenix. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. The larger size is great for me since I have large wrists.I did end up purchasing the Tactical strap for the watch. I tried several third-party nylon straps, and while they were much cheaper, they had several issues. While they said they were for the 26mm lugs on the 7x, the reality is that it only applied to the connector and the straps were generally 20 or 22mm in width. My experience is that is left the watch in an unstable state on my wrist and it was easily snagged on jackets, pockets, or just about anything. The only real gripe about the watch itself is that you can't increase the font size on the complications. It took me a while to find the watch face I liked, and add the complications I use on daily, but the font size means that I'm squinting while trying to read it. It's likely that I'll end up writing my own watch face (as I did for my Fenix 5) that will be a near clone with larger fonts and more color to highlight things.
I recently purchased the Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar - and absolutely love it! I've been using Garmin products for years and have always had good luck with the products and company/customer service - so choosing Garmin over other competitive brands/products was never really a consideration for me. As a multi sport endurance athlete, prior to the Fenix 7X, I wore the FR 935 (and 910XT before that). My FR 935 worked fine - no complaints. I typically train every day so switching from dress watch (Rolex) to sport watch is not ideal. So for quite some time now, I basically wear my Garmin watch every day. (I still love my Rolex and wear it for special/more formal occasions) What attracted me to the Fenix 7X was the sapphire crystal. I wanted all the functionality of a multi-sport watch and something that looked like a nice/high-quality watch, as well. (The Gorilla glass holds up pretty well, but after a while, mine started to look a little rough). I was a little concerned about the size and weight of the 7X as compared to my FR 935 (or new FR 955) and did as much research as I could before pulling the trigger. I finally made the decision to go with the 7X Sapphire Solar - and absolutely love it! As a multi-sport watch it's awesome! And, as a nice looking high-quality time piece for my everyday wear - it looks great! I'm not sure if I'll ever use all of the functionality the Fenix has to offer - but that's okay. I'm sure I don't use all of my iPhone, either. As for size and weight, it is slightly larger and heavier than my FR 935 (and the new FR 955), but within a day or two of wearing it and getting used to it - it's not an issue. I wear it all time, including when sleeping. We already know Garmin battery life is amazing so I take it off occasionally to charge it. I'm 6'0'' / 190 lbs. So far, I'm loving my new Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar and would absolutely recommend it. PS. I use the flashlight all the time! Who knew that would be a thing? Good luck - and I hope this information is helpful.
Garmin Fenix 7 Saphire Solar - well it's pretty much the most expensive smart watch that I looked at, and I hoped it would exceed my expectations as a result. The positives are it's a great looking stylish watch with innumerable configurable watch faces so you can go classic, digital or even have a photo of a loved one as the background. It has immense battery life, a really bright built in torch that I've found useful several times already (you just double click a button and boom you have serious light), gives feedback on sleep, heartrate and heartrate variability and steps taken, etc. It tracks all the sports I do and my version came with both a chunky leather and flexible rubber strap. I'm not sure the leather would like my regular swimming, plus it's not the ... I'm not sure the leather would like my regular swimming, plus it's not the sort of strap you'd want to be taking on and off frequently due to its stiffness, so I'm sticking with the decent looking grey rubber one for now. Garmin menus have never been particularly intuitive for me (I've had a couple of forerunners and bike navigation devices), and that is no different here. It's frustrating that you can't make and take calls on your watch (there's no built in microphone) nor can you use it to remotely control your camera (there's an app but it compresses and saves the pictures to your watch) like an apple watch can. So for the price I'm a little disappointed but think it's the best out there currently for what I need it for (mainly tracking walking, swimming, running and cycling) as well as monitoring my sleep and overall health. If the Fenix 8 adds an OLED display and you can use it to make calls from then that would be a big step forward.
I found the spo2 to be very inaccurate most times it would say im in the low 90s and im really at 98 or 99 garmin needs to really improve the accuracy i know its not a medical device but clsiming a 1-2% accuracy and being off over 5% is ridiculous i bought this watch to replace my fenix 5x plus sapphire which was more accurate than this watch. The solar charging is about as useless as it is on the edge 1040 solar battery had to be charged weekly with only sleep spo2 active and maybe 3 1hr long activities using best accuracy gps settings. At the end of the day i had to return it because the spo2 was too inaccurate and thats kind of a major reason why anybody woukd spend that much money on a good watch. I do love the sapphire watch faces they are basically scratch ... I do love the sapphire watch faces they are basically scratch proof i had my fenix 5x plus sapphire and have slammed it into many sorts of metals and concretes including crashing my bicycle and the watch face remained unscratched over the years that ive had it i wore out a watch band even thats how much i used it. The 7x was just not up to par with the 5x. The toych screen made it a lot easier to use than the 5x however on the 7x you couldnt search for things on the map by typing in a store name or wven filter anything the onky option was show everything nearby then scroll on the map and tap on it which is frustrating cuz it does not load fast at all garmin should enabke you to send locations to the smart watch for navigation same way they do for the car gps units using garmin smartphone link or include a way to search in the connect app as they now allow you to use ur phone keyboard to type in what you want on the watch or enable a search field. I may buy it again.
