STRIKER 4 fishfinder with portable carrying case is perfect for fishing from a kayak or canoe and is especially handy for ice fishing. Mark and return to your hot spots, boat ramps and docks. You also can share your favorite waypoints and routes with other STRIKER and echoMAP chart plotter combos. Smooth Scaling graphics provide uninterrupted imagery when switching between depth-range scales. Sonar history rewind allows you to scroll back through sonar images to mark waypoints you originally may have missed. Includes carrying case, rechargeable battery, CHIRP (77/200 kHz) transducer and a tilt/swivel mount. for high-performance CHIRP, purchase a GT8 or GT15 transducer (each sold separately). STRIKER 4 fishfinder includes a Garmin CHIRP (77/200 kHz) transducer, which provides a visibly higher level of clarity and detail for fish and structure than traditional 77/200 kHz transducers. Instead of sending just 1 single frequency, CHIRP sends a continuous sweep of frequencies, ranging from low to high, then interprets them individually upon their return. Since the frequencies provide a wider range of information, CHIRP sonar technology can create crisper fish arches with greater target separation.

Nice solution to a problem. I was toying with the idea to mount my sonar just as this bracket does. I happened to see a YouTuber install one of these and I was sold. I hadn’t even known anyone was making these. Nice lightweight composite, really like the diamond plate trim look, very good job. Will recommend to others, as I’m sure I’ll get asked about this on the water and at the ramps.

The Garmin Striker 4 offers wayfinding, operational information, and sophisticated fish finding at a very affordable price. This product is all the weekend boater and fair-weather fisherman really needs. Sure, high-level features, like maps, would be nice. But paying hundreds more for non-essential features won't prove to be a good choice for many who enjoy getting out on the water. The Garmin is a proven product, the software is glitch-free and intuitive to use. A super value.

Great depth finder for the money with good features.

Great depth finder for the money. Controls are fairly well managed, but a few more directions in the manual would have been helpful. Nothing said about locating fish and how to set that up. Screen clarity is really good for a small screen. Pretty easy to install. Mounted mine on the back of the boat, near the bottom edge and never had to make any adjustments. Doesn't seem to be a battery drainer. Well worth the money for anyone on a budget.

Great fish finder for the price

I own a Hobie Compass which is Lowrance ready. After reading the reviews of Lowrance vs. Garmin, Garmin had me sold. The striker 4 is a small, easy to use unit, that has many features a more expensive unit has. The install was easy, ziptied the transducer to my mounting area, drilled 2 holes and with a Ram Mount the unit sits perfectly on my tracks. I was able to get about 15 hours of use out of the unit last weekend so my review is basied on that. The screen is bright, no issues with sun wash at all! It is easy to navigate between sonar and the map, it has a button which is one push to drop waypoints. That very convenient when drifiting and get a bite or fish. The map/GPS is just a blank screen but it shows the line which you've traveled and all your waypoints, panning and moving the map is simple. The unit did not have any issues with slight splashing from waves. Marking fish was clear and easy to read. Finding structure was also clearly visible. The depth reading was always accurate as well as the water temperature. I used a "wildgame innovations" deer feeder 12 volt battery which lasted those two days without needing another charge. The unit tells you the voltage so your able to monitor the battery life. A feature that really stands out to me, is the ability to change thecolor of the screen. I personally like the orange better than the blue base. I would highly recommend the Striker 4 to anyone not looking to spend a lot on a fish finder but want something reliable and easy to use at a budget friendly cost. The two photos I included are right after install. The striker 4 is on simulatiom mode.

Great fish finder package

Works great, the portability is awesome.Lasts for days with the supplied battery and charger.Only complaint I have is the charger and battery connections. It comes with a quick disconnect on the charger, but doesn’t come with it for the fish finder wiring. You have to pull off the spade terminals every time you need to charge. Other than that issue, I highly recommend it.It comes with a float so that it can be used for ice fishing also and has traditional and flasher modes. You can mark hot spots and also if there are obstacles in the water you need to avoid.I am very satisfied with this unit.

Having fished for over 40 years and having used generations of fish finders, I can say this thing is amazing for the price. The screen resolution and clarity are top notch. Easy to view in the bright sun, love it! The menu system is very intuitive and easy to use. Comes with a tilt and swivel mount so there is no extra expense of purchasing one separately. Installation is as standard as any fish finder. The GPS plotter is just icing on the cake. Bear in mind this a plotter, not a full blown lake/river map. The plotter is easy to use and allows you to mark your hot spots so you can return to them. You can also set way points to establish a route to follow. More than I needed, and better than expected

I bought the S4 based on price and features I needed. I wanted a small instrument to save space in my little boat, clear bright images, and water temp indication. These it does in spades. It has more features, but I don't need GPS for finding fish spots or over the water speed I have a separate GPS for that. The diminutive footprint of the mount is solid, and does not wiggle or change viewing position while underway. I remove my S4 from the boat after every outing and so far no plastic bit breakage on the mount after nearly a year. Regarding moving the S4, I bought the screen cover (it does not waterproof the S4) for stowage in my instrument bag to protect the screen from being scratched. A nice option to be sure. Regarding moving the S4, I bought the screen cover (it does not waterproof the S4) for stowage in my instrument bag to protect the screen from being scratched. A nice option to be sure. As a side bonus I have it mounted close to other instruments and sources of power / switching and it's completely immune to interference from them. At any rate, I have mine in an all electric Jon boat and its two minor nits / flaws are: If you use it with a larger thrust trolling motor (tm) and if the tm bogs down in weeds, or you need immediate full power, and or the battery starts to get low and you goose the tm, like ALL instruments it will likely shut itself off necessitating a re-start. To solve this I bought a small dedicated U1 35Ah battery for my instrumentsand lighting, problem solved. For a small boat or yak with tiller steering, the transducer / power cables are Waayyyy too long. You will have to find a spot you can stow the unused cable bundle. I wish they made a small boat model with cables no longer than 10 feet or so. They could then accessorize it with cable extenders :-) I'm likely to buy a fishing yak, and for sure I'll buy another S4 to install on it.

Beware!Fancy looking software is no replacement for reliable and powerful hardware. This won’t track the bottom when it’s deeper than 30 feet or if the boat is moving faster than 3 knots. (And yes it was professionally installed according to manufacturers instructions)The gps iis marginally useful. No charts…you can mark waypoints and see your track. The unit is a passable toy. If you’re buying it to actually use? I’d offer up a steaming cup of NOPE!in short - it’s garbage.

My fourth fish finder, it is by far the best. I am on a small natural lake; bigger and more complex units would be out of place. Cant really vouch for durability, as it is new. The documentation is lousy- my only gripe. Nine languages. Cant speak for all of them, but the English is tough going. Simple declarative sentences are apparently beyond them. Instructions are mostly on line and mixed up with different models, having different capabilities. Too much trouble to give you a model specific, enclosed, how to use it manual.

If you fish in a kayak and can mount this close enough to see the screen it's all you need to catch fish. I abused mine with more than 100 days on the water and it stays on my yak all year round. Does not use much battery so you can get the cheapest amp hour battery you want and still use all day. The quick draw map is perfect is you are a kayak fisherman on waters you can't get your big boat in because most of those waters are not going to have mapping options from the big guys. So you just make your own. This is a simple and effective tool to help you catch fish. I could afford to buy the newest technology but for what this does for you it works exactly how i need it to.
