Gasmate - TravelMate II Single Butane Stove

Awesome little stove. We had to live out of the garage while the kitchen was being renovated and this stove worked so well. It was sturdy, heat was consistent and hot enough to cook a meal.

Butane Camping Stove

Overall stove is good. Only thing is that the heat doesnt really have a low flame. IT slightly does, but still heat is still high even tho i turn the knob to low setting.

The stove works well, it is light and of a good size. Ours came with the spark system defective, the REPCO team in Mitchell, ACT, provided great customer service and assessed the issue, replacing the stove when they found the defective spark system.

Good little cooker

I found this burner quite useful while camping. Good points: Very easy to light, high heat output, built-in heat reflector and wind shield, uses cheap butane canisters, comes in a robust plastic case, fairly light, self-contained, large cooking area, stable platform for pots and pans. Bad points: loses performance when the temperature drops below 10C. I found that putting the canister in warm water for 20 seconds restores the pressure and performance. Note that the canister cools down while in operation so needs to be re-warmed after a while. Tips: have two fuel canisters - one in use and keep the other warm, then swap them occasionally.

Great little gas cooker

Fantastic little gas cooker. Great size with the carry case helping pack up and transport. Works really well and covered all our needs for a few days getaway. Found the gas usage to be decent compared to older cookers I have used

Hoping for better

Bought this to replace an old one that I believe was leaking gas. This new one seems no better and struggled to boil a donabe pot of water. I wish these coolers were as good as the Japanese ones.

Review of Gasmate Travelmate II Single Burner Buta

We have had one of these for years. We bought this first then upgraded to the 2 burner. Used mainly to boil billy and toast now, although we have cooked using a frypan on it, use the 2 burner for our main cooking. Its quick to boil a 1 litre billy, couple of minutes. The cartage will last a few weekend camps. Its quick easy to use and small enough to not notice when packing. Only downfall it needs a weather shield.

handy for weekend trips

Excellent value cooker for weekends away, light and compact. Perfect for reheating food, boiling water or bacon and eggs but cooking a thick steak would be pushing it. Due to the nature of butane the cooker loses its effectiveness in really cold weather, still has a flame but it is very weak.

poor performance in cold

Just back from recent camping trip. Disappointed with performance in cold weather. There was nothing I could see on stove or gas canisters mentioning this problem. No use if it only works in warm weather. Will be returning to store for refund
