I bought this as a Christmas present last year and it worked great at first. Then a month later, there were problems. For starters, on one of the burners only half of it would light up, it didn’t take long for that burner to stop working at all. Then on one side of the stove you couldn’t lock in the gas canister to be able to use it. I took it back as it was still under warranty and got it replaced. Now the exact same thing is happening with the second one. Guess what? I can’t return that one. BCF won’t allow it.It’s a waste of money. It’s cheaply built with cheap parts which is reflected in the reliability. It will break apart. The hot plate didn’t actually warp despite a lot of comments saying it does, which is the only good thing about it.In short, DO NOT ... MoreI bought this as a Christmas present last year and it worked great at first. Don't buy it, I haven't gotten around to returning mine but I will be. As soon as you heat the hotplate it warps like crazy. How it even passed the Aus/NZ saftey standards is a mystery to me.The burner itself works great, the case it comes in like all of there is brittle and no doubt prone to breakage.I'd suggest buying the burner on its own and buying a different hotplate, it's actually a shame it does cook a feed and heat up quite fast but the hotplate warping is way too extreme and is actually a saftey issue as the oil all pools in one corner then catches alight. In some cases this has the potential to possible then cause the gas cylinder to ignite and or explode.

Really not happy with this stove. Had the same sort of double butane stove the last few years and just bought this new one after my old one died. Burns very sooty and dirty, hard to control the heat. Do not recommend

I should have taken notice of other reviews (which have since been removed) of the product before my purchase. Gasmate cookers are obviously not what they use to be. My previous one lasted 30 years, this didn't make it through one weekend before the hotplate buckled. The heat is either too hot or next to nothing, there is very little in-between. Once the hot plate buckled (first use,) the fat just ran over the edge. I noticed when i came back to write this review that there is a note on the product page "staff tip" explaining that the functionality of the cooker (being butane) may cause the user to experience different levels of performance at low temperatures. I noticed when i came back to write this review that there is a note on the product page "staff tip" explaining that the functionality of the cooker (being butane) may cause the user to experience different levels of performance at low temperatures. Ain't that true, the cooker was useless at any temperature below 12 degrees, and possibly at higher temperatures as well, we just haven't used it (and won't) in anything warmer. If you intend using the hotplate, don't bother, if you intend using the cooker in any temperate less than 12 degrees, this isn't the cooker for you.
The Gasmate Travelmate II SS Double Butane Stove With Hotplate was purchased as I required an external stove for my caravan, as we prefer to cook outside to avoid cooking odors inside the caravan. It worked well initially with full cans of butane and mild outside temperatures, but at low outside temperatures, about 3 degrees C and a strong breeze was not able to adequately provide heat to cook with, or boil water for a cupper. I think that was due to the low vapor pressure of the butane at low temperature.
First time using noticed gas constantly leaked. Snowy's staff happily let me return and swap for another. I should have tested the replacement before heading bush for a month. This one had the opposite problem. No gas flow from one side. So the twin burner is only a single burner that takes up a lot of space. I would suggest looking at other options for cookers this product my be too cheap and nasty.
So I like the older Hotplate this gasmate double butane burner came with because it was a bit bigger and had half with a cross grid and flat on the other half of the hotplate and it also had a bit on it where the oil would run in to. The hot plate on this one has no gridded plate so when I went to put my sausages on the Hotplate they wouldn't stay still they would slide in to the corner. I found it difficult to get the gas canisters to lock in properly because there was some sort of metal bit in the way as I was pushing the lever down to lock in the mini glass bottles, so I had to stick a a knife in there so the leaver could go down to lock them in
Unfortunately one burner doesn’t work won’t have the box. Second burner has a poor flame. Using genuine gas cartridges. Away on a trip for three months so a bit frustrating.
This portable gas stove is easy to setup and use. Good build quality and nice and lightweight, comes with a carry case as well for easy transportation. Excellent product, highly recommended!
On the first outing this cooktop failed in all functionality. First one of the pietzo igniters failed after one start, the other burner next produced Enough heat to boil a cup of water despite using multiple canisters and Cooker would only be useful for half of any canister before flames and heat would diminish to a flicker. It’s hard to understand how it’s possible for a simple design to perform so poorly. After 10 days remote camping and having to tolerate this cooker it’s gone straight to the bin when we get home.
