We have just started using the Gentle Leader on our nervous, reactive rescue bully, having used a more traditional "back attaching" harness on him up until now. The change has been dramatic and immediate, not just in terms of pulling (which stopped almost completely within a few minutes), but also in his general attitude - he now walks to heel with little or no correction, and seems much more relaxed and confident in his body language. I am not sure why there are not more harnesses available that have the lead attachment at the front... this is the key feature to this harness as the lead attachment at the back creates a perfect environment for your dog to pull. Being at the front it is simple to redirect your dog when they begin to pull and has allowed me control over two large working line German shepherds who are far stronger than I am. It must be fitted quite firmly (more firmly than you would first think) so that chafing does not occur, and there is no padding or softness, fitted correctly this is no problem though. I have had the same harness for four years and it is still going strong. It is quite adjustable so I have had the same one and just adjusted as they have grown. Unbelievable. I was very skeptical that this harness would work as well as people say, but I thought it was worth a shot. I have a 7 month old ACD x Bull Arab that's already 30kg, he pulls on the lead and almost pulls my arm out of its socket. Walking him was painful and frustrating! Used this harness for the first time tonight and the change was actually shocking. No pulling, and he was walking by my side almost the entire walk which he's never done. I thought it may take some time to adjust, and expected some jerking around to try and wriggle out of it, but he was happy and comfortable as soon as it was on. I 100% recommend this harness and it's a bonus that Pet Circle have the cheapest price I could find online.
