I was so pleased to receive this styler for review. I had been using a Dyson Corrale iron for a couple of years as I had ditched the harsh hot tools due to excessive heat damage and split ends. Mostly, though, I was using a hair dryer or Air Wrap to style my hair due to their reduced heat (and thus damage!) to my fragile hair.I have quite long hair that is oily at the scalp and dry/brittle at the ends. I’ve mitigated damage to my hair with products (shampoo, conditioner, balms, etc.), but I do need extra styling help as my hair has a bit of wave to it and goes quite frizzy/poofy if left to its own devices. Adding curls/waves to my hair can work with a lot of effort, but I generally default to getting my hair mostly straight with a bit of volume. Now that I’ve ... Adding curls/waves to my hair can work with a lot of effort, but I generally default to getting my hair mostly straight with a bit of volume. Now that I’ve filled in my background, let’s get to the product at hand:This styler is meant to straighten your hair quickly or to be used to curl hair to create lovely waves. It is shockingly lightweight (especially compared to the Dyson), but that’s a good thing and makes it much easier to maneuver or hold up for longer periods of time. My hair slides very easily between the plates and doesn’t snag or get stuck, which means that it passes through quickly and reduces the amount of time exposed to the intense heat. I hope this will, in turn, lead to reduce heat damage in the long run, but only time will tell. What impressed me most about this device is how effective it is! One quick pass is enough to straighten my stubborn hair, whereas I needed 2-3 passes with my previous irons. I can do my whole head of hair (about 28 inches long) in less than five minutes, which is crucial when trying to get out the door in the morning. The other miracle is that, for some reason, my hair remains completely straight and frizz-free throughout the day. Humidity no longer seems to affect it! I don’t know why/how, but that’s worth its weight in gold to me.

I received this hair straightener in exchange for my review. Let me start by explaining that I have literally straightened my hair several times a week for YEARS. YEARS! A good hair straightening tool is a necessity for my mature color treated hair that has become slightly more wavy as I have aged. This ghd Chronos is perfection in so many ways. First, although it appears to be the same size as my previous straightener, its design makes it much easier and more comfortable to hold. Prior to taking the picture and comparing both tools, I was convinced that the Chronos had to be smaller because it felt so much more comfortable to hold and manage. Next, the first time trying the Chronos, I used it just as I have my prior straightener which required multiple passes on a section of hair in order to get it straight. Imagine my surprise when the Chronos not only straightened my section of hair in ONE pass, it also left my hair looking healthy and shiny. This tool has not only done a much better job than any straightener I have ever used in the past but it’s also done in fraction of the time!! The Chronos heats up quickly and doesn’t radiate the heat from the plates like others do. There is no hot smell of hair or need to select a temperature wondering whether or not it’s damaging your hair. The Chronos heats up and cools off quickly and has a cute chime that indicates it’s been turned on and off. This straightener is so good!! I can’t ever imagine using any other straightener again!! The Chronos hit it on so many levels!! If you want exceptional results in less time then look no further. You will LOVE this!

The styler has plenty of safety features such as the lights on both button and base by cable showing it is on and hot, the automatic cool down feature if it has been left on for too long. Another safety feature is the finger guard on the outside of the Chronos which stops you from burning yourself making this comfortable to hold.GHD have introduced a new technology on the Chronos model called HD motion-responsive. I can confirm that when using the styler hair feels like silk and the plates do not drag on the hair due to the new technology. The outer of the styler is also curved making it easy to both straighten and curl hair. I do not have the easiest hair to style as it is very frizzy after washing, but this was no problem for the Chronos, I used the Ghd protector and sectioned my hair and gently glided the straighteners through my hair, there was no frizz or flyaway hairs and once hair was straightened it lasted all day and night including the silky smooth feeling. Please note, this is a styler to be used on dry hair only.In conclusion, I would highly recommend this product especially as a gift or if you are looking to upgrade your current styler as you will not be disappointed.

Sleek, soft, shiny, healthy looking hair; these are some of the things you want to see in a Good Hair Day, this Chronos Styler will SERVE all that up. I spent a lot of time using this product before I decided to take the time to put my thoughts down, and my favorite detail from my results is that my hair still smelled good. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that with a straightener before! When I thought back to smelling my hair after styling, it would always have zero scent or even smell a little fried, which was always a huge disappointment to me. With each use of the Chronos though, my hair still had that fresh shampoo and conditioner scent. For a little more context, my hair is curly/wavy, thick, with plenty of random kinky spots; so if I’m straightening it one pass is near impossible no matter what, and this Chronos isn’t an exception to this. Unfortunately I think that’s just life with this hair type, however I was able to get my hair straight and PERFECTLY flat in 2 passes without staying on it for too long. This is a pretty huge accomplishment that consequently cuts down a great deal of time spent on getting flawless results. It does this all while retaining a clean smell and perfect shine. Another thing I loved is that it seems to seal my hair cuticles very well, resulting in extremely soft hair, and it really did stay like this for days. I usually wash my hair once a week, with waves starting to reform about 2-3 days after straightening, but with the Chronos I didn’t have to go back in again until days 4/5 and only in limited spots like my face framing sections. The only complaint I have about this product has nothing to do with my results, it’s really just in its description; the box mentions that it’s motion censored for even results, but I’m not sure if this means it will merely keep the same heat temp consistently, or if it’s advanced enough in technology that it can tell if you’ve slowed down your passes therefore lowering temperature enough to prevent frying. A more detailed explanation of its technology would be greatly appreciated as I want to understand in full what’s happening with this device. Other than that I very highly recommend this styler to anyone that is looking for a Good Hair Day everyday. You’ll spend less time on your hair and retain your results longer. I swear by GHD’s products and they have me as a loyal customer for life! Upgrade your game with the Chronos, I promise you will be extremely satisfied with it!
ChronosI have used the new GHD Chronos (they are actually called a motion-responsive styler) many times since I got them. And I must say they are fantastic. They have a new sleeker, more curvy exterior than usual which allows them to be used for curling your hair, or styling it in a number of ways. And the results are fantastic. In addition, the ceramic plates have a little bit of movement in them in what I assume is to help ensure you get a super-even connection with your hair when styling/straightening. Again, this really does help provide a wonderful result. The ceramic plates themselves feel extra smooth/glossy which I felt made my hair extra smooth and shiny after each time I used them. What I also found, which was actually amazing, was that the GHD Chronos styler helped to tame my post-styling fly away hair that I often got. This was a huge relief. The other small features that make this a fantastic product include the rotating power cord which means you don’t need to untangle the cable when using the product, it just rotates to help you style your hair without issues. There is a small bevelled area on the top and bottom of the device to act as a reminder not to put your fingers further up to avoid touching the hotter areas of the item. The heat light is very clear and neatly located just before the ceramic plate, there is also a rear light just by the power cable so you know when it’s on (and if you’ve left it on by mistake), although if you do accidentally leave it on, the styler has a sleep mode which will turn it off when not used for about 10 minutes. The heating up time I excellent and it doesn’t take long to get styling even when in a rush.In terms of what is in the sleek black box when it arrives, well the usual stuff really. You get the styling product itself (with a fixed plug as usual), the heatproof plate guard (made of a matte finished rubber) and a small instruction book. All in all this is a wonderful addition to my styling routine and one of the best styling products I have ever used. Well done GHD

When I tried the Chronos for the first time, it felt like using a turbocharged version of my beloved Platinum+.What I liked the most is the new wishbone hinge that makes the styler so much easier to maneuver. In first place, it makes the body of the Chronos more flexible so you need less pressure to hold and glide the styler which translates into less tension in your hand/wrist. Secondly, the plates align perfectly with zero gaps in between. The combination of these two things means you don’t need to 'squeeze' your hair tightly between the plates to get a perfect styling. The styler glides effortlessly and I never had to pass it twice on the same piece.I've long, fine hair prone to frizz and I use the styler mostly to curl it. I didn't notice a significant difference in how long it takes me to style my whole head but I'm surprised by how much longer my curls last. On day 4 my curls were still there (a bit more relaxed of course), which is incredible to me. I also love how smoother my curls look on rainy days when the humidity usually makes a frizzy mess.I've always appreciated how ghd takes care of the heat setting/temperature control with its built-in technology and I really like that the 'one-and-only' button is located on the inside so it never gets in the way while using the tool.On the downside, the styler initially left a bit of a plastic-y smell on my hair and hands but it faded away, after 4-5 uses I couldn't smell it anymore. I also wish it was cordless, but probably they kept the cord to guarantee a better performance even for professional use.I know curling your hair with a styler definitely has a learning curve but it's really worth it in my opinion, so I feel like a tool like the Chronos is a very good investment, also considered it has universal voltage and a 3 years warranty which is very rare and a good peace of mind.

There is no ability to change the temperature, however I have had no problems at all with the set temperature. I also like the fact that when not in use it turns off after 10 minutes automatically… helps to stop me worrying when I leave the house (yes I am forgetful!)Overall i would say this styler has had noticeably better, longer lasting effects on my hair.As an older lady i have white/grey thin, dry, frizz prone curly hair but it has managed to tame the frizz for the whole day and beyond! When styled it has made my hair visibily shiny and feel soft and silky right to the ends, I love that it kept my hair looking fresh and soft after a blow dry which can make my hair appear terrible and brittle looking. As a bonus I have found that I have not needed to re style my hair all that or the next day no matter what the British weather throws at me! A must have in my hair routine to make my hair look and feel so soft and silky. In regards to the speed of styling the chronos is really quick, I have noticed that I don’t need to repeat strands of my hair like I have previously with other stylers. This too goes for curling or controlling a flick at the ends of the style . My hair looks full and curled after one stroke with the styler to curl. Again for all styles it stops frizzy ends and makes my hair look so shiny and soft! The only thing I would say is that there is a slight high pitched noise that comes from the styler whilst you are using it. Although it doesn’t affect use and it is only very quiet, once you notice it you can not ignore it. This is not enough to stop me using this styler though!I must note that I always use heat protection on my hair and I only style my hair roughly three times a week.
I was very excited to try this flat iron. Usually I am prone to using GHD’s larger flat iron (2 inch plates) to straighten my hair and their curling iron/wand for curls. I was pleasantly surprised by this flat iron. One of the features I immediately noticed was the base where the cord is connected to the iron, it swivels! I can’t express to you how much I love this feature. The cord can become easily tangled but the swivel allows for easy handling. The plates and iron allow for an extremely smooth glide and create a very bouncy curl that shortened in length about 1 inch from my actual length. I also did a side by side (one side ironed straight and one side curled). The side I flat ironed straight was sleek and smooth, no snagging and the iron heats up instantly. I ... I like how the tip of the iron extends out allowing you to hold on when you’re curling your hair so you do not burn your fingertip. Although I think the flat iron works well with my hair (for reference I have average-medium coarse wavy long hair) I would probably recommend this for folks who have average to medium texture hair and mid length or shorter. I think it’s more work for someone with longer hair to utilize on a daily basis. However, if you’re a hairstylist this would be a great addition to your salon tools for everyday clients with average to coarse hair and long hair or shorter. It has some key features that stand out from their other flat irons like the swivel cord and extended base for placing your fingertips on but still very similar to the rest of GHD’s flat iron series. Any GHD tool I have ever owned has lasted me a very long time because of the impeccable quality, something I believe GHD pride themselves in when it comes to creating tools for the masses.
Having had my current pair of GHD’s for nearly 10 years (Limited Edition Artic Gold Classic) I was excited to start using these.First impressions - I could feel the upgrade in quality as soon as I unboxed them. They feel more robust, are very light and compact and the strong wishbone hinge keeps the plates inline and stops them wobbling from side to side. These straighteners are very responsive, they reach the required temperature very quickly, in a couple of seconds (audio tone indicates when you are good to go). They glide through my hair with such ease, no pulling or catching of hair on the edge of the plates. It literally takes me five to ten minutes to straighten my hair and I only need to go over a section once (twice depending on thickness of the section). ... They glide through my hair with such ease, no pulling or catching of hair on the edge of the plates. It literally takes me five to ten minutes to straighten my hair and I only need to go over a section once (twice depending on thickness of the section). This is a big deal to me as I’m always pushed for time in a morning. (This includes doing a proper job of sectioning my hair and not just running the straighteners through the top layer). My hair to touch didn’t feel as hot as it does when using other styling tools, which is a good sign as it must be better for your hair. The rounded edge on the plates makes it easier to style the ends without any kinks. I tend to turn the ends under slightly so my hair sits evenly at the back (I have shoulder length hair and if I don’t get this right the ends look uneven and it spoils the style). The end result is amazing! My hair feels and looks in good condition after using these straighteners and is so soft and shiny - as if had it done at the salon. It tends to hold the style even if I’ve wore a bobble for a bit and still looks ok the next day when I’ve slept on it or been to the gym.I had a quick try at curling and again the plates glide through my hair with ease. I’m not the best at curling my hair with straighteners but it did feel easier when pulling them down through my hair than when I have tried previously. You hear the off tone indicator when you switch the straighteners off which provides that bit of reassurance. There is a sensor function built in that if it detects a period of inactivity it reduces the temperature to a safe really low heat but I’ve not experienced that yet. This seems as if it is a useful safety feature. So, all in all, I am over the moon with the design, quality and performance of the GHD Chronos. Having not upgraded my straighteners for a while I can definitely see how they have evolved over time. I have a couple of other GHD tools that I can use to straighten my hair and they all give a slightly different finish. In my opinion these are the lightest, quickest and easiest to use and give the best ‘polished’ finish.Well done GHD, another top notch product - you never fail to disappoint👏👏
