This Gilmour Flat Soaker Hose 50' is a nice product that can reduce your garden or yard watering use.The hose is flat , flexible until water pressure is turned ON.The flat design permits to be easily rolled back UP for storage after use.In concept this should be an easy product to manufacture well. Although the end connections do tend to leak and the weeping . soaking, watering is uneven along the length of the hose. The outer jacket is black fabric, so it may be less prone to sun damage.Limited Lifetime warranty stated in Gilmour original packaging.Made in China

The Gilmour flat soaker hose is a below average soaker hose. I have multiple soaker hoses in my yard for when we don't have enough rain. Some of the hoses are the regular round soaker hoses and a few are the Gilmour flat soaker hoses. I find the Gilmour flat hoses do not last near as long and sometimes not even a season. I have had leaking at the connection and I have some of them split. Some of my round soaker hoses are over ten years old and still working. Yes they have a guarantee but who wants to deal with the hassle of returns plus having to redo the hose into the garden. I can not recommend the Gilmour flat soaker hose from my own passed experience with them.

I bought two of these soaker hoses and laid them both out under my cedar hedge in the backyard. I’d had several of my individual cedars die in the last two years and replaced them all with new cedars and I wanted to increase the chances of the new cedars “taking” as much as possible.The problem I found with manually watering with a garden nozzle was twofold. Best soaker hoses I've found for my farm - even better than ones costing more than double or the professional drip tape systems. Soaks consistently down entire length, isn't prone to kinking and is much easier to lay out than the rubber ones which tend to harden and crack over time. Nice gentle drip, no spraying. Working great under compostable weed barrier. Roll up into nice small package to store over winter. Bought 10 and went back for more - so did all my farming neighbours who've seen them in action in my garden.

The universal male nozzle end screwed onto my other hard rubber watering hose easily and the other end fit my spray nozzle easily with no problems. But it comes with a screw on cap for when you want to just lay it throughout your garden and water the plants roots instead using the spray end or wasting water spraying the whole plants. The water seeps out slowly from the fabric jacket of the hose on all sides of the watering hose to get deep into the soil without wasting water. And it gets the water where you need it most, right at the roots.
The flexible and flat design of this soaker hose works great. It is easy to weave around plants in the garden and also to roll up and store. I bought two 50' hoses for my 7' x 11' raised bed garden (intensive planting). I water only twice a week for 1/2 hour each,. The hose delivers water to the roots using very low water pressure, saving lots of water. I plan to buy more as I add garden beds.I was surprised to see bad reviews, but am wondering if the reviewers that complained of leaks knew they were buying a soaker?
The Gilmore Flat Soaker Hose of 50 feet is a good length for use in landscaping, especially in the front or side of the house. It's flexibility lends itself to different configurations. It waters without a sprinkler wetting windows and sidewalks. A down side is that it should only be used when someone is home to time it. It is not meant to be left on indefinitely with pressure. During hard freeze, it should be disconnected and drained to prevent damage. The material is sturdy and can withstand burial, yet flexible enough and light enough to move easily. With a lifetime warranty, it is a great timesaver compared to hand watering and constantly moving sprinklers.
Gilmour's water hose / flat soaker hose is made of high quality material. It is not the typical plastic soaker hose. The traditional soaker hose cracks over time. This flat soaker hose is made of a material type, like cloth that covers the actual plastic hose. It is long enough to be moved all over the yard without disconnecting from the water hose sprocket. It is designed very well and the workmanship is excellent. Gilmour flat soaker hose is designed to last. My traditional green plastic water hose did not make it out of the summer season. This hose will last a long time.

This season, I set them up same as last year and they don't work the same. One whole hose is clogged and no water weeps at all, another sprays uncontrollably and floods, while the rest of the hoses only work properly in small interspersed sections.
