Firstly, this foundation photographs beautifully. It’s one of the best foundations for that. Secondly, there are loads of shade options. This is a good thing but kind of bad if trying to choose online. If you’re struggling I always look online at other people wearing it and swatches. I like shade 3. 5 which is similar to Punjab and 6 is similar to Stromboli. Thirdly, coverage is buildable and dependant on your application method. That still wouldn’t put me off from buying it however as the other factors sway me enough. If you have more dry/mature skin this will be great 100%. So if you’re a bride the only thing that lets you down slightly is the longevity but don’t let that stop you from trying it as like I said it’s one of the MOST beautiful foundations out there.

This product is WAY too expensive to perform this terribly. I have been trying to shop around for a wedding day foundation as I will be doing my own makeup. I have been trying to make this work for over a month and it just isn't it. First off the positive things, the texture is thin and watery and fills like nothing when you put it on. It also looks very nice when you have one single layer on for about an hour. Now onto the negative things, first off the smell. This stuff is HEAVILY fragranced and it doesn't die down on the smell as you wear it. It also does not give "buildable" coverage whatsoever. The more you put on the cakier it will look ESPECIALLY if you have any kind of lines for it to settle into. I have been a Bare Minerals girl nearly my entire adult life. I love the glow and it treated my skin well. Up until a couple years ago (the last couple years of my 40s), my skin changed and it just doesn't do well with Bare Minerals anymore (dries it out, creases in lines). Trying to find a liquid or cream foundation has been a chore at best. I read an article about Luminous Silk, was hesitant due to the price tag but figured I would try it. The tipping point for me, was I saw a video online of a make-up artist showing to use "as fluffy" of a make-up brush that you can find to apply it. So I did, GAME CHANGER. Just love this make-up, now finally finding it right before I just turned 50. Doesn't crease in any lines, doesn't dry my face out and with the correct primer lasts 16+ hours easily. My face doesn't feel all gooped up and I don't look like I have a ton of make-up on. With Armani's Luminous Silk concealer, I can build the coverage that I need, in the places I need... and keep it lighter everywhere else. I originally tried a couple other concealers with it and didn't find I like them. They all creased or looked like they were there. That is why I finally tried Armani's that went with this line. I love their Luminous Silk glow powder with it. Just an amazing combo. One thing I find with this, that I was sort of already used to, coming from Bare Minerals, is that you seem to have to give the make-up a few minutes to almost settle. I don't know what the technical or professional term is, I just say "do it's thing," before you keep layering on more. Ladies with maturing skin... I implore you to give it a go and make sure you have a really fluffy make-up brush for application!

I prefer lightweight or medium foundations. However other brands wouldn’t last a full 8-10 hours. Or they felt slightly mask-like, especially on warm days. I relented and finally gave luminous silk a try. This foundation is more watery than creamy, making it a dream to apply with a brush. After 2 weeks of daily use, it hasn’t settled into fine lines once. Rather than a dewy finish (like many foundations for mature skin), this foundation leaves a soft, filtered, luminescent finish. On a cool spring day, I easily got 10+ hours of wear when combined with a very sheer amount of powder over it. On warmer days, 8 hours. Previously I have found that with other brands one pump would provide good coverage. But with LS I do use 2 pumps due to its lightweight formula. Using 2 pumps + the high cost doesn’t make LS the best value for money. However, it is very rare to find a foundation that is so forgiving on mature skin.

I’m a fair true-neutral and the 1.5 (fair, neutral) is a little on the yellow side.I’ve given it a second and now third chance and have had slightly better results (minus the yellow cast) but I’m still not convinced. It appears to finish nicely but has no longevity for me and doesn’t build coverage very well. Ultimately, I don’t think it’s worth the money.
