There's little to fault about the Godox AD300pro. It's so compact, lightweight and easy to handle. It's intuitive to use. 300W variable power covers a huge range of photographic lighting needs. It is sturdy and reliable, has excellent recharge cycle times, even at max power. I am so impressed with this compact powerhouse I am saving up for a second unit. The one feature I would desire is an attachable handle, since this is lightweight enough to handhold.

I bought 3 of these to use as portable strobes for on location shoots. I watched a number of Godox vids on YouTube (the ones Godox makes, not other reviews) and chose this over the AD400 Pro (I also have an AD100, 2X AD600s, and a myriad of flashes and plug in strobes from Godox). Super happy with my choice. I have now used them for 3 shoots over the past two weeks and they have worked flawlessly. Godox is hitting their stride in a number of ways - but particularly with the on-flash interface. My only complaints are nitpicks. 1) I would love to see more Godox mount modifiers, but the light worked fine with an S2 bracket and my bowens boxes. Just means I have extra stuff to deal with. 2) The battery takes a little bit of an extra push to ensure it is seated.I am ... MoreI bought 3 of these to use as portable strobes for on location shoots. I am sticking with them for the long term now.

I bought this AD300 Pro during a recent sale (amazing price, thanks B&H!) and WOW it is amazing. I've been getting by with smaller lights (two Godox TT350N's, and the excellent AD100 Pro) but I always wanted a little more power to cover outdoor scenes properly. Also without needing to lug around too large of a strobe - this is the perfect combination of portability and power. I decided to take advantage of the sale price and I'm very happy I did.I'll keep things brief, since there are so many reviews out there on this strobe that go into great detail and cover different use cases. Just wanted to leave a positive review for this AD300 Pro, it's awesome and quite a boost in power and flexibility for me. Big fan of Godox gear.

Excellent design
7 October 2022

Another impressive product from Godox. Without consulting the user-guide I was up and running in minutes after charging the battery pack. Godox claim remarkably fast cycling times between discharges, and from what I have experienced the strobe lives up to it's spec. For the performance and duration, it is impressively small, light and portable, and competes with comparable strobes nearly twice the price. It feels well constructed and durable. I have invested in a Godox system and so far I have not been disappointed.

Great little unit
22 November 2022

I've used it on a handful of jobs these past 2 weeks and so far it's been great. Very compact and lightweight, sets up quickly and works seamlessly with other Godox lights and remotes. I bought this over the AD200PRO mainly because it's more robust in terms of recycle times when the battery is being run down, as well as being shorter in length and easier to pack in my equipment cases. It's the perfect balance of size, portability and power in my opinion. I've used it for wedding receptions and indoor events with the CD15 diffuser, as well as for portraits with the Parasnap octa with great results. The most important thing is it recycles so quickly that I never get misfires the way I do when using the V1 off camera. I'll definitely be picking up one or two more of these.

Great portable & light flash… but extra batteries!
21 February 2023

This light is awesome to have for portable studio and on location jobs. Great for shooting in tight & small spaces, too! It’s easy to setup and store. I use the Bowens mount adapter ring which is easy to attach and take off. Don’t get the one that you have to permanently attach that just seems like a nightmare and defeats the purpose of their small size. I do hope that there will be more modifier options for the Godox mount, but for now, the Bowens attachment works. These are great on short shoots or if you’re shooting in a darker set/location. Each one is about the size of a 70-200 lens. The price is amazing - you can easily buy multiple units for the price of 1 competitor’s unit, which is worth considering. The pros of this light is their portability and ease. The price is amazing - you can easily buy multiple units for the price of 1 competitor’s unit, which is worth considering. The pros of this light is their portability and ease. I love that you can change the color temp of the modeling light. I haven’t found an opportunity to use this for video, though I’ve seen folks write about how it can be a great video light too. I wouldn’t buy these as primary video lights as they’re strobes, but it’s always nice to have a modeling light feature if you need to shoot short video clips in tandem with your stills. If you’re looking to have a lighter, more portable kit - I definitely suggest these. I also suggest buying extra batteries for each head you have because these lights run through their batteries very fast; especially when shooting at higher powers or in bright studios. I haven’t tried these outdoors yet, but I don’t expect them to overpower the sun on a bright, sunny day.For my studio & on-location portrait work, I typically use these between 1/16 to full power, depending on the environment I’m in & modifier I use. I can get away with shooting between 1/8 - 1/4 but in some spaces I will need to use 1/2 or full power. I like to use these as side lights and hair lights as I don’t need as much power. I tried doing a couple days using these as key lights for corporate headshots and some portrait & beauty jobs, but I had to change the batteries a few times during those days which certainly messed with my shooting flow. If you don’t have a problem with changing the batteries throughout the day than these lights will be perfect for you!

So good, I bought a second

I don't love my AD200. I like how small and powerful it is, but it does not refresh as fast as I would like. I absolutely LOVE the AD300. It is small, but packs a lot of power, and recycles super fast. While the AD400 and AD600 are awesome, they are too big and bulky for me, require large/heavy modifiers, and need a solid C-Stand to keep from falling over. The AD300 is so light, I can pop it on a standard light stand with the smaller modifiers and stay on the move during events. The only issue is it does not have a standard Bowens mount so many of my existing modifiers do not work without an additional adapter, but that is the trade off for the small profile. Fortunately, Godox has a handful of modifiers that work specifically with the mount on this light without ... MoreI don't love my AD200. The Best Thing About This Monolight Is Price
31 October 2022

Yes, the best things about this monolight are price and size/weight. 300 Ws is not enough to use it outside unless it is twilights or overcast day and its battery source of power is not a very big deal inside. Don't expect a power output level or color temperature consistency on par with Profoto heads or battery power pack + head(s) systems from any major manufacturer. But at the same time the battery life is quite decent for this light source and you can have a really portable and manageable one or two lights setup which will fit into a normal size photo bag or backpack along with your camera and a couple of lenses.I use these lights for on site portraiture work (mainly professional headshots) and I am very happy about them.

This flash made me get me a little private studio equipment. Meanwhile, it has become three pieces with a shade (Elinchrom 49" Deep Silver Umbrella incl. diffuser) and a Godox AD-S65S softbox as well as the BD-10 Barndoor Kit. Plus Avenger C-Stands (two large 2030 kits and a 2018 small one and one 1051BAC). For the quite heavy umbrella I got a Manfrotto umbrella head instead of the supplied panhead, otherwise Manfrotto E650 pins for the C-stands. The flash control via the X2T Remote is very simple, convenient and reliable. 300W of power is enough for me even during the day to overdrive the existing light. It's not quite possible with direct sunlight, but I can avoid that pretty well. what a great light for a great price
19 March 2023

I'm and industrial photograper who shoots in many manufacturing facilities and new homes and for real estate. Iam formerly an Elinchrom user for many years. They are great lights, but a little pricy. I needed a flash that used no battery pack. Ilooked at the Elinchrom 1, but it was almost twice the price. I've had this for about a year and it has never let me down. I bought it on sale with a small softbox and stand. Iknow it is not Swiss made, but it truly a great value and has worked well in wireless mode
