1 second delay if you pair in stereo with TV

Google half-heartedly added a delay function to Google home, but it is a mere 200ms delay when you need over 1 second, rendering it useless. These sound pretty good for the size and the price. They are fairly heavy, I don't know why. The sound is comparable to Logitech desktop speakers I got for $30, which is to say, they sound alright. They are a pair of smart speakers with Chromecast Audio and Bluetooth built in but no analog input nor any output other than sound, no analog, optical or digital output at all. They work as a stereo pair for listening to music with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. They sound alright with Spotify. There is no noticeable improvement with Amazon HD uncompressed audio. I haven't been able to get them to support gapless playback so I listen to The Beatles on better equipment. They are definitely not audiophile quality but fine for casual listening of compressed music like Spotify and they work well enough with Bluetooth. I'm traveling and I have spotty Wi-Fi at the moment so I am using them as Bluetooth speakers. There are problems with the Bluetooth when the Wi-Fi fades out. I activate Bluetooth only with voice commands so Bluetooth is useless if I don't have Wi-Fi. This could have been prevented with a button. There does not seem to be a way to connect them to the Chromecast with Google TV with Wi-Fi. Bluetooth has lag between the audio and video. They do not work well at all with Chromecast with Google TV. These could well be worth the price ($95 for a pair) if they simply had an analog input, RCA or 3.5 mm would not have added a dollar to production costs and would have made them excellent desktop or TV speakers, and much more versatile. They were an impulse buy, on sale, probably not worth what I paid, but I like them.

Pair two Nest Audio devices in a room and you get stereo sound without the wires. My favorite feature is the intercom: Just say "Hey Google, announce!" and it will broadcast whatever you say next to all Nest Audios, or even to select rooms. All that said, setting up these devices is not for the faint of heart. Adding new devices can be tricky, and often can take two or three attempts to get each speaker authenticated. Devices will sometimes randomly fall off your home wi-fi network, requiring a 'factory reset' and going through the motions of re-authenticating.For those willing to put up with a little extra digital elbow grease, the ability to have music playing around the house far outweighs the disadvantages. There are other multi-room options out there, but the Nest Audio series is an excellent overall value.

As a result, I canceled by Walmart subscription, I can't pay for a service that's this useless with a fake 90-day satisfaction policy.

Smart Speaker; Dumb User
29 July 2023

I was expecting more from this, my first smart speaker. I read loads of reviews to help me choose between Google and Alexa and concluded Google was probably better. True, it’s a clever novelty having a voice-activated device to play music on demand, answer straightforward queries, and so-on. But it’s a different matter learning how best to phrase the question you want answered. Hence my ‘Dumb User’ tag. Other observations: there are no audio pre-sets, only a bass/treble slider equalizer; the choice of non-American voices is very limited; volume control is a bit clunky, with pre-sets rather than the finesse of slider or rotary settings; it doesn’t do BBC Sounds. On the plus-side, it looks neat and blends unobtrusively; it’s efficient and is a boon to my grandchildren ... MoreI was expecting more from this, my first smart speaker. The Best Google Speaker around!

Recently I gave away from my Google Home Mini (sounds old just saying that), and decided I needed a newer speaker after owning that for over 4 years. This is a phenomenal item with the ability to play around with the bass and tremble, versus what the old mini speakers did. It's heavier which makes it feel like a real speaker. I use it for almost all my automatic commands and routines. The charcoal color is also very satisfying with the products on my dresser, increasing the cool aesthetic of it in general.I use several products on my Google Home through the speaker such as my lamp, door lock, Chromecast, and even my lamp (Ottlite). Comparing the volume of the google home mini at 25% vs this current one is a big difference in clarity and smoothness. Take my review as a big encouragement. Peace!

Really?).I was already really disappointed and wanted to throw it out of the window. I reset it and for now it seems ok.But then I thought: you know what? I don't really need to use Google assistant the whole time, so I turned the microphone off and then 4 orange dots appeared. At first I thought that they would disappear after some minutes, but actually no. As long as the mic is off, 4 permanent orange dots are gonna be displayed on the device. Just Google letting you know that they don't approve you trying to have some privacy. There is no option of turning them off.Google it's just a company that wants to make money. They put orange lights on the device just to 'force' you a little bit into not turning the microphone off. By doing that they just get more data from you talking in your own house. Interestingly the speakers play randomly some ads and this fact is described as a 'bug'.My only thought at this point is just the hope of living long enough to see capitalism (and Google) die.If you still haven't bought it, try to find something more fair.
