Great cameras, only a couple of minutes to install, quite configurable, have face / human / animal / motion detection, get notifications on iPhone / iWatch wherever we are. Battery based, about a month or so in high trafficked areas. Can be wired for continuous recording. Quality drops quickly based on distance, but great up close.

Awesome... But...

The product is excellent, but to unlock the full features you need to pay for a Nest subscription, which is a little sneaky by Google. Without a subscription, you only have 3 hours to review footage and save it. So unless you sleep by your phone with the alerts load enough to wake you, you'll likely miss the footage of the grub stealing your car.

Awful install and terrible night vision

The installation was a nightmare due to it continuing to not connect to the router. After one hour of chatting to best they finally escalated me to someone more senior. The reset instructions they use ended up being incorrect. To reset you need to hold for 30 seconds until you see a yellow light. Not 10 seconds and a white light. After all the fuss The camera at night is very low quality and hard to see. Strongly recommend not to buy.

Camera resolution quality poor for price point

The camera resolution is not what I expected for a camera of this price range. It is unlikely to aid you or police in identifying a person unknown to yourself.Additionally, mounting the camera at the recommended height of two metres is just asking for it to be stolen…..And lastly, the time it takes to load an event notification video or show live video can take 30 seconds… far too long to be of value using the notification function.Look for a camera with 4K image capture resolution if you think you may need to rely on the quality of the image….

Fairly disappointed

Things I wish I knew beforehand.You can only access footage from 3hrs ago, after it’s 3hrs old it is instantly deleted.Unless you sign up for a subscription.The cameras even when set to the highest sensitivity don’t always activate and record. I’ve been told unless it’s constantly plugged in that this is common and they can be quite glitchy.The battery life isn’t ideal either so the novelty of being ‘wireless’ wears off quickly.The mobile app used to control the cameras is also very slow and very ugly.Definitely not what I expected for the brand and the price.

Great Cameras if your deep in Google Eco System

Very happy with these cameras, they do a good job allowing me to keep an eye on my property and get alerts when I am not at home of someone hanging around it coming up to my door.If you are able to hard wire the cameras as they work a lot better, been more responsive and will reliable at picking up people and vehicle movement in your yard. However they do work quite good on battery aswell

Happy with the purchase

Purchasing the 3 pack over a single camera has two advantages being 1. It comes with a "charging cable" and 2. Is periodically available on sale making individual camera prices quite affordable.The cameras magnetically mount on a base so can be pulled down to recharge or as i have done, purchased solar panels to recharge on the go (Do NOT order the Wasserstein solar panels via the Google store). The ability to be able to easily disconnect the camera is a concern for theft if the security hood purchased separately is not fitted so need to place these out of reach. Note that the charging cables are unique to the device and are not cheap if bought separately.Daylight Video quality appears very good for what the cameras are intended for, plus they have facial image capture (day or night). Night vision is also quite good (was able to clearly zoom right in on a person in the patio) but suffers if there are white items in close proximity flaring the lens when i compared two cameras. Advantage is, i simply shifted the affected camera.The google home app (Android) is very good for interrogating the cameras, displaying history, notifications etc as well as displaying captured facial images. Event types and duration recorded can also be adjusted easily such as ignore animals, motion or set zones etc.On interface, If you have a google hub you can relay a camera to the TV but only one camera at a time so it is lacking on that aspect but regard this as more of a gimmick after using the phone app. On PC, i have a link to the Google home app via the web browser and can bring up all cameras. For extended options available, i signed up to the very reasonable $9.00 monthly subscription (all 6 various cameras i have, can add more at no cost) which captures up to 30 days of events as opposed i believe to the 3 day standard capture period, which in itself is still quite useful.

Nest cam

Good functionality. Can connect to Google hub with another device, all in one place. Easy set up. But require Subscription for prolong recording. Competitive price with other cameras. Short 12-month warranty.

Requires monthly subscription to work

We bought this expensive camera only to figure out that it only saves a picture (not even a short video clip) of motions and sounds. Pretty useless if you can’t hear the sound or see the motion of what happened. It also only saves the pictures of events for 3 hours, pretty useless if something happens at night. To see video clips of events and store them for longer than 3 hours you have to buy an expensive subscription. No other security camera does this. Also nest is now owned by google , so you will have no privacy anymore. Do not buy!

Worthless

We bought these to replace our aging Arlo Pro cameras. Given the price, and the build quality, and the brand name - we just assumed they would be good. These cameras are useless - motion detection is unreliable at best, non-existant at worse. During the day, we have had unwanted people come to our house and the motion detection has gotten 2 seconds of them LEAVING the premises, but not entering, or while they were here. At night time, when we have had our car broken into - we had THREE camerass pointing directly at the car and not ONE SINGLE motion alert and thus not a single video recording of it happening.
