Easy to apply with no need to apply heat for protection. Other waterproof products I have used have required heat to for them to seal and cant be used on some clothing. Another concern was the smell of some of the others. This product has no real aroma and does not require heat to seal. Will buy it again as needed, Might try it on the tent also.

Making sure to follow the instructions, I applied this product and it worked as advertised. Restored water repellency to my gear. Comparatively with other products I have tried it has worked the best. Also, this method of application is the safest in my opinion. Yes, you do need to be more careful/meticulous in high wear areas to make sure the product is taken /enough. But with a bit of practice , its just better.

I picked this up with the associated tech wash to care for a goretex jacket. So far I've done a couple applications of it - the first I applied it and allowed to air dry. This worked OK, but I found the coverage streaky and kind of messy. The second time, I sprayed the jacket all over, put the jacket in the dryer on medium and it made a huge difference. Beads water like new, and seems to be covered throughout.Unless there's some part of your garment that shouldn't be treated, or the garment cannot go in the dryer, I think an in-wash treatment would be more uniform and much cleaner.

I bought this along with the Grangers Down Wash Kit for my Arc’teryx Thorsen coat, which has a Gore-Tex outer shell and down insulation. Works very well to give the Gore-Tex that extra bit of water-proofness. As I understand it Gore-Tex needs to be washed on a regular basis to make sure that the membrane isn’t blocked and can continue to breathe. However, that extra bit of water repellence could be useful to quickly bead away water. The bottle is a nice amount and the price is in line with other manufacturers. I’m glad that Grangers has a whole series for different uses and fabric so you can use products from the same company.
The four bottles, 2"D x 9", we're placed in a 12'x13'x6' box between a folder crumpled plastic sheeting with each bottle in its own cheesy thin heat sealed leaky bag. So, the bottles just have a hand tight, maybe, sprayer to stop it from leaking. In my case half of them arrived empty, with neither of their individual bags retaining much of the liquid from the bottle. I have lots of sea to summit stuff which I typically purchased from amazon or REI, but never directly from sea to summit. I seriously doubt I would have encountered this problem if I'd purchased from them, but will in the future.
The wash itself seemed good and got the jacket nice and clean.Afterwards i sprayed it with the waterproofing solution as per instructions and allowed it air dry.The next rainy cycle day I put on my jacket and travelled to work, half way through my 45 min commute the jacket was wetting out which i think affected the breathability so got to work feeling fairly damp. That said, when I contacted Showers Pass I was very impressed with the level service from Fraser, who seemed to go ‘above and beyond’.Even going to the point of sending me a postage label to send back my jacket for reproofing .Ive now received the jacket and am waiting for another rainy day cycle ( shouldn’t have to wait too long) to test it out.
My 1st showers pass jacket has been with me for 7 yrs. It was the best. It has been with me through rain, sleet and hail. It survived a crash 2 yrs ago, but sustained some holes. I purchased Grangers Performance Wash and Performance Spray a few months ago and treated my jacket with care. It STILL ticks! I since have bought a new SP jacket, but my first pick is my old one. She still has a bit of protection left in her.
We tried Grangers 2 in 1 which promised to wash and reproof Gore tex. it singularly failed to do so, despite the instructions being followed to the letter. THIS is much better. It washes better and the reproofing appears to have been successful (a pint of water poured over the jacket beads in that satisfying manner and not a drop came through over the space of an hour). However, it is not perfect. A single bottle is barely enough to fully spray one single jacket; If you use it liberally, intending to do the job well and thoroughly, I would say it isnt. We used 3 lots to do 2 jackets (large). The spray nozzle seems to have only 2 settings (open or closed) so the liquid comes out like a water pistol, not a deoderant, and there is noticeable wastage. We used 3 lots to do 2 jackets (large). The spray nozzle seems to have only 2 settings (open or closed) so the liquid comes out like a water pistol, not a deoderant, and there is noticeable wastage. The stuff is chemically powerful and probably not something you want to be exposed to often or for long, so in order to do this you need to go outside, hang it up or lay it flat and spray it fully. A 5 minute operation paying attention to seams and obvious areas of wear or stress. Dont try to save time and money with the all in one formula - it doesnt work. One final point: the process is expensive. To thoroughly treat 2 jackets cost around 37 (Performance Plus wash, then 3 x performance plus waterproofer). Given new Gore Tex jackets can now be had for under 100 this seems quite steep, particularly as we wasted an additional 15 on the 2 in 1 which did not work at all. Realistically Gore Tex (and other similar alternatives) have a lifespan. Possibly 2-3 years, if used constantly, but probably less if even a slight shelving off of performance bothers you. From an avoiding hassle viewpoint it may make more sense to buy a jacket, wear it until it starts to let in water and simply buy a new one. Whats that you say? Bad for the environment? What do you imagine is going on with all these chemicals? 20% went into the ground or down the drain. Are the jackets as good as new? I wouldnt go quite that far..
This particular Grangers product restores waterproofing to almost all performance outerwear. We prefer this spray-on waterproofing to similar products used in the washing machine because we didn't want to take the chance to gum up our very expensive washer. We used this spray on product to restore our 30 year old, vintage mountain parkas. It did its job perfectly when applied as directed. We used about a half bottle for a single, size M women's, hip length mountain parka with hood. In our case, the parkas have a cotton outer shell and a wool lining (yes, wool can be washed successfully). We laundered them with Grangers wash and then applied the spray-on Performance Repel Plus waterproofing to the damp garments and let them air dry. The waterproofing finish is perfect and even with zero blotches. It completely re-waterproofed our garments. We were able to test the waterproofing recently in the pouring rain and the water simply beaded off the jackets. We're over the moon to be able to use our favorite vintage parkas for what will now be forever. We're ordering more from this seller because we like to wash our outerwear at least once a hiking season. Every time we wash the parkas they lose their waterproofing. The Grangers product solves the waterproofing problemperfectly. We also prefer the Grangers brand to Nikwax, which seems to have application problems that we wanted to avoid because, well, we're not yet ready to part with our vintage parkas.
previously tried mw branded proofer, that the shop manager told me was actually manufactured by grangers. (the jacket version was more resilient than the cheaper boot version). then pitted mw against the grangers plus. proofed sample cotton rag with three light spray coats (dried between coats) then syringed 10ml water on top of each. timing how long it took to soak into/through the material. the grangers plus kept the water absorption at bay much longer. 5 hours compared to 3 hours for the mw. (grangers plus on the left in the photo. mw extreme on the right) nb the manufacturers claims of how many garments you can spray per bottle are exaggerated. to do the job properly i used a whole 275ml bottle to cover a codura motorcycle jacket. hence 4 stars. and im guessing ... Morepreviously tried mw branded proofer, that the shop manager told me was actually manufactured by grangers.
