Another Great Raina Telgmeier Book!

My daughter fell in love with Raina Telgmeier in 3rd grade. I'll be honest. I am NOT a fan of graphic novels as a general rule. My ego says I need to raise readers...and I have. I relented on Smile as she was reading so many other books as well. Now she is 13 and I can tell you that these books have really given her a friend and a confidante as she has navigated the hazardous tween/teen years! She has found herself in each of these books and we are grateful!

My daughter finished this book the same day I bought it. She's read the entire series and can not wait for more books to come out from this author. The employee was very helpful and went to the back to get this book for us, as it just came in on the truck that day!

Great Book for a picky eater

My my 9yr old son has been asking me to get him this book. He said that it will help with his picky eating. He opened it up on Christmas and was extremely excited to see it was the book he has been asking me for for so long.

Great Book in my situation

I bought this for our 9 year granddaughter, which we are raising, due to her parents addiction issues. She has really enjoyed reading it. It helps her understand that there are other children in her situation and that she is not really that different from the children that actually live with their Mom's and Dad's.

Not good for young minds

I don’t want me third grader reading about “eating disorders”, throwing up, panic attacks, anxiety , bullying, puberty, and seeing a therapist. I don’t know how it has so many stars and other parents are ok this being put into a young mind. Back it goes . The other books talk about kissing , spin the bottle and teen drama. 3rd grader does not need to read about this kind of stuff. Their minds are impressionable and need to focus on positive things

There are better books than this!

Not sure why this is a recommended book. The letters are so small and hard to read. The main message was stretched so much. Did not like it.I have read sisters by Raina as well which I got for my daughter but it was inappropriate language and details.

There has to be something better out there

This book is about fear, anxiety, bullying, and early teen / tween drama. The majority of the main characters are in therapy, parents are of little support, bullies are excused from bad behavior. Menstruation is portrayed as something that makes one ill, cramped and moody. It was also poorly written and has no particular literary value. The only good news is that it shows good friendships between girls and there is no boy drama. Unfortunately, boys are also pretty irrelevant in the book.I can see how it might be useful for someone who lacks empathy or is coping with an anxiety disorder.

Came in some sturdy cardboard wrapping. Arrived faster than originally expected. Was paperback, which surprised me. I dont know why I was expecting a hard back copy. Still happy with the purchase.

reading can be fun for a 9 yr old w/the right book

I bought this for my granddaughter, who is almost 10. She loves these sort of books and has many. She asked me to write a review and give the five star rating because she really enjoyed the book, she said it felt so real to her. She finished the book in 2 days., she didn't put it down much. With so much free time, out of school for so long, it seems like a great opportunity for kids to get interested in reading for their own pleasure. I love the fact that she is getting so much enjoyment from the book.
