Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was a remastered version of the original Halo game, released in 2001. The game featured updated graphics, new multiplayer maps, and a cooperative campaign mode. The updated graphics were a major improvement over the original game. The textures were sharper, the models were more detailed, and the lighting was more realistic. The game also featured a new art style that was more faithful to the original concept art. The new multiplayer maps were a great addition to the game. was honestly really disappointed when I got this game. I thought it would be just like the first game only with updated graphics and online multiplayer, like what the trailers suggested, but instead I got a rushed, excuse for a remake. The Multiplayer was the biggest let down. It's basically like a Halo Reach add-on only without Halo Reach itself and only 6 maps, with two of my favorite maps missing, Sidewinder and Blood Gulch. The Campaign was interesting with it's updated graphics and terminals, but I don't think that alone is worth $40. If you like this game, that's fine with me but I don't recommend it

You can play a private match with friends, or get your butt kicked by randoms in a matchmaking match. In short, Halo CEA is rooted deep in tradition with a clear vision for the future.LONG LIVE MASTER CHIEF!

Add bloom lose atmosphere

In another desperate gambit to convince Halo fans that 343 are real halo and halo 4 will not be an overwrought mistake comes halo Anniversary. The gist of this is simple. Replace halo with ... Halo. What could go wrong-Well 343 can go wrong, let us begin with them messing with the cut-scenes, doing silly things like removing commander Keyes' pipe because... Why- and ending with adding in a number of terminals which give you plot spoilers. The levels have all been remade to current out of date graphical standards and redressed too much so that you lose much of the atmosphere, in particular when on your way to follow a doomed marine expedition into a grim foggy hell hole and finally meet the flood. Or should I say were. Now the map looks like something from James ... MoreIn another desperate gambit to convince Halo fans that 343 are real halo and halo 4 will not be an overwrought mistake comes halo Anniversary. The gist of this is simple. Prettier yes, but now lacking in atmosphere completely. Were Halo:CE's graphics out of date- yes, yes they were, but then they were out of date when the game first came out, but nobody seemed to care then, why should we care now- If you have Original halo CE then don't bother, unless you care about the multiplayer, and if you do... Buy Halo Reach the multiplayer engine is EXACTLY the same.

An amazing game, even more so if you loved the first one.

If you love the first Halo, this game is well worth the money. The updated graphics make it almost seem like a new game, but with a very familiar feel. The boards and sequences are all exactly the same, but the new graphics add so much detail and foliage, it makes some parts hard to recognize from the first game. Perhaps the neatest feature of this game is the ability to turn the graphic enhancements on or off at any point in the game, so you can really compare the two and see the amazing differences. A hint to my fellow Halo fans: turning the updated graphics off makes it MUCH easier to find guns and grenades on the ground due to the amount of grass and foliage they added. This can really help if you're desperately scrounging for weapons, grenades or ammo. Plus you ... MoreIf you love the first Halo, this game is well worth the money. All in all, an excellent game, especially if you loved the first one.

Classic Title!

This is a great title if you have nostalgia for the original Xbox. You can flip between the original and remastered graphics and earn achievements on this title. Highly recommend!

Different Gameplay
1 December 2011

Good idea to have a great classic remastered with modern graphics, but the gameplay is too much like Halo: Reach.Pros:-Graphics look great-Sound is the same with remastered music.-Skulls in Halo (1), fun stuffCons:-Auto Aim that wasn't featured in Halo (1).-Controls are in presets and none are exactly like the Halo (1) controls.-Aiming sensitivity isn't even. Up/Down is slow while side ways is fast. Changing the sensitivity faster to make Up/Down normal, will make side ways aiming far too fast.-Vehicle control is bad. Feels like your driving on ice all the time and doesn't respond well with the full speed movement (half thumb stick still makes the vehicle go at 100% speed).-Switching between graphics doesn't pause the game. If you accidentally hit it or do it on purpose, the game is still live during the 6sec black screen.-Hitboxes and objects are what the classic graphics sees. In modern graphics, walls and objects are slimmed down, but when you try to shoot pass it, it will hit the object, because in the classic graphics, the wall/object isn't slimmed down and your still shooting at it, even though the modern graphics shows nothing is there. Conclusion:Overall, not a game that is worth $70. Too many bugs and glitches from trying to duplicate the same Halo 1 feel onto another engine, along with another set of textures just doesn't work well. Switching the graphics to classic mode still feels odd. I would rather go on the original xbox and play the original version.

Halo Re-envisioned: Same Great Game + Eye Candy = Recipe of Awesomeness!

What is there not to love about this game? From being able to wield a pistol that gives Thors hammer a run for its money to fish-tailing like a lunatic in the good ol Warthog, this game captures everything that we Halo fans loved about Halo: Combat Evolved (CE). I picked this game up to fill that Halo: CE shaped hole in my heart that missed playing the game that was such an entertainment staple for me in years past. Halo: CE Anniversary is the same exact game as the original Halo except that it is presented to us with stunning new graphics and extra goodies to be found in-game, such as skulls that alter gameplay when activated (unlimited ammo anyone?) and terminals that gives new insight (in the form of videos) into events that transpire prior to and during the ... MoreWhat is there not to love about this game? Achievements are a nice touch as well, as some of them are quite fun to obtain! With the new graphics, youll be sure to appreciate the crisp new details on all of your favorite weaponry as you traverse the visually stunning Covenant and Flood filled environments of the Halo ring. If you dont care about the new graphics and extras or just wish to experience some sweet nostalgia, the game allows you to switch from the new graphics to the original graphics and vice-versa by simply pressing the select button on your Xbox 360 controller. Is that cool or what? If you are hoping to be able to do battle once more in multiplayer on iconic maps like Blood Gulch or Sidewinder, Im sorry to say that the original Halo multiplayer has been replaced with the multiplayer of Halo Reach. Six maps have been re-envisioned for the Halo Reach multiplayer, but I would have preferred to have been able to experience the good times of the original multiplayer even if it were only possible for offline play. Lets be honest, who doesnt miss Halo LAN parties? While I do have my complaints with the multiplayer aspect of the game, Im sure 343 Industries has their reasons for not bringing it back and the fact that it is not available does not bother me enough to change my opinion of how wonderful this revived game is. Believe me, Halo: Combat Evolved is a game you want in your collection. I feel it matches any new release games entertainment wise and were talking about a game that was first brought to market in 2001! The fact that Halo: Combat Evolved has now had two very successful separate releases should be a testament to you purchasing this game! Lock n load, Spartan!
