A must have for the x system. Amazing bokeh and rendering, perhaps better than the 75mm M leica noctilux. Hassy color science is insane. Would rec a grip with this lens on the 907x. Decently fast autofocus.

It was a struggle to choose between this and the 65mm f2.8. This lens is as heavy as a Sony 70-200 and priced way above the 65mm, however I ended up getting it because I know I would be constantly thinking about this lens if I acquired the 65mm instead. At wide open, the image is a bit soft as expected similar to all the fast lenses I owned and it is the look I know I won't get from the 65mm. The color of this lens on 907X 50C is nature and vivid, the sharpness has nothing to complain, the focus ring turn is a bit short for my taste but fine, the bokeh is round and full and the focus speed and sound are on par with other XCD lenses I own. The reviews of this lens were great and the lens is in fact great. The separation that the f/1.9 open aperture creates is stunning and unique. It is a heavy lens, but worth the weight for the images it creates.

Love this lens! The quality holds up to the H series lenses from Hasselblad. My only complaint is how loud the focusing can be. Both the autofocus and manual focus make a bit of sound. Otherwise great lens, sharp across the frame at all exposures. Obviously gorgeous bokeh wide open.
There is more glass in this lens than the other XCD lenses. And it produces some very extraordinary images. The transitions from sharp to unsharp are the best I have personally experienced. And the sharp is as sharp as I have experienced. The only lens that seems like it lives up to this lens is the XCD135. They both are extraordinary.Now, the motors on this lens are too loud for my tastes. They are a little crude compared to other AF lenses. But the focus is accurate and pretty quick. The manual focus using focus peaking is accurate as well, it's just not a direct mechanical feel, but it still is not too bad.The bokeh is also just beautiful. Nice and round circles. I hope to be using lens for a very long time.
I remember using the 80 mm with my 500 CM Hasselblad. This is the best portrait lens ever Sharp images. It's just absolutely spectacular love using it for portraits. I just completed a corporate headshot series with this lens and the images are outstanding highly recommended. I know the price is a little steep, but it's worth the money for this series and for Hasselblad cameras.
It is sturdily built, has no loose part, with smooth focusing ring. It is a tad heavy but to be expected for so much glass and the motor. Balance is not excessively difficult when mounted on the x1d2 and the length of the lens is also reasonable given its focal length. I come from a M background for the most part so I am comparing its built and optical quality to M lenses which imho is very high standards. The lens is sharp enough across most areas even edges for my purpose, wide open vignetting is not any more noticeable than lenses with this aperture. Bokeh is butter smooth and OOA light circles are mostly perfect circles ie nice shutters. The only qualm I have about the lens is that it is slightly prone to CA, which is a little surprising. This will go down as one of Hasselblad’s best portrait/intimate lens ever. Both in terms of sharpness and bokeh. It’s impossible to overstate how good this lens is. I must say it is also an absolute beast. I use it on my 907x and when I first put it on I must say it was a noticeable heft over my 40mm and 21mm Hasselblad lenses. That said, it’s still my favorite HB lens, and quite possibly my favorite lens of all time. If you see it in stock buy it quick, the rabbit’s out of the hat with this lens so they don’t last long before they’re sold out.
I have been to a lot of camera/lens combos. Leica, Noctilux, Canon 1.2, Fujis 1.2, Fujis Medium Formats and so on. But the rendering, the beauty of the leaf shutter look and the majesty of this lens in combination with the X1D is a dream come true.I am not a physicist, but I guess there is something to the leaf-shutter, that makes this thing really special. I experienced the same with Leica Q/Q2, Ricoh's GR's and even Sonys RX 1/100 series.... Combine this magic with a kind of medium format and booom!
This XCD 80mm lens is very very expensive but it's the best lens I've ever owned and it's on the best camera the Hassleblad X2D I've ever owned. The combination is amazing. Razor sharp, the finest photos with creamy bokeh that will wow even the harshest critic. It will stand out among all! It's great for portraits and not great for fast things like weddings so if you're gonna do weddings go with a Sony A7rV
