If you are looking for a camp chair that doesn't make you feel like you are sitting in a toddler stool, or just resting an inch above the ground, this chair is for you. It is high enough to be practical with most table systems and tall enough to not feel like you are squatting around a camp fire. It is sturdy enough that you never feel like a little rocking is going to flip you over.It also has a number of interesting features, it packs reasonably small, but is still larger than most of the other Helinox, Alite or Therm-a-Rest chairs, but is also noticeably higher, and provides significantly more neck support. The sack that holds the chair is also designed with a light mesh and velcro backing so it can be stuffed with clothing, towels or other elements and become a neck support with variable height positions (I'm 5'9", my wife is 5'4", neither of us had any problems finding a good placement). The feet on this Helinox do not fit the regular Helinox ball feet for softer surfaces, but are themselves larger than normal so don't seem to have much of an issue. I haven't tested with the sand mat yet, but in soft (non-sand) ground had no issues even with reasonable weight (I'm not a small guy).I found the stability, comfort, and build quality all excellent on the pair we own. The size is reasonable for such a large luxury item, and the weight is moderate, again, mostly for car camping type set-ups (or a good canoe trip without too many portages). I would recommend this if you have the value sense that aligns to this sort of item when camping. You'll probably want to twin it up with a Therm-a-rest Mondo King 3D or Exped Megamat 11, and between the chair, and the pads, you'll forget you are camping and not living with all the creature comforts of home.

Great chair. I chose the print version only because I prefer solid fabric to mesh. I compared the Helinox Sunset and Big Agnes Camp Six chairs as they are similar in specification. My preference is for the Helinox based on assembly/disassembly, overall engineering, and fit for me. As to fit, the Helinox a better fit for me (at 5-11, 170), but YMMV. The camp six is a broader in the beam for those with wider hips and deeper in the bucket. The Helinox Sunset is a very well engineered comfortable addition to camp. Full height seat above ground, and full height back rest.

Excellent quality, light weight and sturdy.

I highly recommend this chair. I bought this chair because of the long walks across several soccer fields at tournaments or down to the beach and I bought the table because of the long waits during parades. With the mesh bag, there is room for snacks, sunglasses, caps, books, and all the other things that are necessities at parades. The chair is so light and portable. It folds so its length is much less than a standard chair. It can handle rain and sun. It is something that should always be kept in the car.

Great Chair - Absolutely Worth The Money

I read a review prior to purchase that suggested that getting the high back version (this one) didn't add much weight but added to significantly to the comfort level. That advice was spot on.Still extremely lightweight, this chair has it all. I've used it extensively since I purchased it in July 2019. It spent two weeks with me at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, and I had to roust my tentmates and neighbors out of it when I got back to Camp Echo....they all preferred it over their own. It spent a week with me in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and a half dozen weekend campouts, and it has performed flawlessly. It couldn't be easier to assemble and disassemble, fits easily in the hold of my sit-on kayak, and straps securely to my backpack. ... MoreI read a review prior to purchase that suggested that getting the high back version (this one) didn't add much weight but added to significantly to the comfort level. It's even stable on the beach. And although it dries already quickly, the stowage bag (thoughtfully) has a mesh panel to facilitate the drying process. Purchase with confidence!

Great chair!
11 June 2023

We own two of the small Helinox chairs that we use for canoe camping so we have to carry them in a pack. However, we recently got a camper van and are getting a little older. The sunset chair is still pretty darn small so fits well in the camper. You sit a bit higher which is nice and the high back is also very nice. Putting a blow up pillow in the the holder makes it perfect for relaxing around the camp and can even nap in the chair. We have an Eno chair as well which was much more expensive, a bit heavier and not any more comfortable (but still a good chair). The Helinox Sunset isn't as sturdy as the fold out chairs but smaller and lighter and way better than those regular camp chairs that slip into a bag.

I did my first BWCA (AKA multi-day remote canoe) trip a few years ago and was told one of these compact bag chairs was a must. Every option I found had a weight limit around 220-250. At the time I was about 290 and thought I was out of luck. Then I found Helinox. All the size specs were very close to the other options and the price was only a little more for much more weight capacity. I've used it on multiple camping trips and even random outings and get togethers because it's just that much smaller to carry. Last summer I lost one of the feet in some mud and didn't realize it right away (don't pack up a chair in the dark I guess) and lost it. Helinox service was fantastic to work with and hooked me up with a set of replacement feet. Since then I also purchased the feet ball/stabilizer add-ons and they're awesome, no more sinking in the mud/sand or anything. So yea, I bought this chair more than two years ago and was doing some shopping on the site and felt compelled to give it a great review. In addition to just having too much time on my hands, I really like this chair.

This is my 3rd sunset chair by Helinox (as in I own 3 of them, not that 2 have perished before). Lightweight. Easy to put together. I also own a Chair One. My young adult son prefers that one. Tried the Costco knock off of the Sunset chair, but nope. Love the accessories from Helinox for the Sunset too. If you are a big person (by weight and/or height) I would tell you that the Savannah is probably going to be more comfortable because it has more room.

Sunset Chair was perfect for Beach Trip
11 March 2021

We bought 2 chairs for a trip to Florida so we could sit on the beach without paying for rentals. They worked perfectly. Super light and packed in our checked bags. The system for setting them up is so easy. The fabric for the seat takes a little stretching the first few times, but becomes easier once you do it a few times. They were very stable for me - 105 and my husband 210. We sat all afternoon and felt very comfortable. You need to dig the legs into the sand if it's windy and you get up, but we put our bags on them when we walked the beach and they stayed put. I love these so much that I will buy one for each of my kids. Yes they are costly, but if you think of it as an investment - they are so well made that you will get your money back in time. Glad we did because they breath better. LOVE THESE CHAIRS!
