The jacket is great. As we enter fall and days reach 90 but nights fall into the 50s, a morning walk requires a jacket. The weight of this is perfect. I think it will also be good down to the high 30s and 40s and as a great layer below that. It is not heavy. It is light yet meets both needs. I think one of the keys may be that the lining is not sewn into the outer fabric shell so it creates an air barrier for higher effectiveness. The lining in this is soft and comfortable Even the standing collar is lined. The end of the sleeves Velcro shut tightly and there are two drawstrings in the hips so you can make it ride high on your hips like a bomber jacket. I’ve received a number of complements on the look. I’m very grateful to HH for offering this discount to our organization. This jacket is one of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. “Mid-light weight” I’d call it - too warm for the summer, but any amount of cool in the air and this jacket is on. Other than this gripe the jacket is truly amazing and I highly recommend it.

I bought these jackets for the Imperial College Sailing Club and we got them branded by an external company. When I went to pick these jackets up from the printers it started raining. Naturally, I put on my H/H jacket and was immediately impressed by the beading of the water droplets on the surface - These things are really water repellent! However, it is quite a light jacket yet the fleece lining gives it high degree of warmth and comfort. The fleecy pockets are a treat and there's a useful internal pocket in the left pocket area.Things to note:- Only the top half of the sleeves are fleece lined so the sleeves aren't too thick and there's not too much friction helping you put on a jumper without the sleeves rolling up- IMPORTANT: there's actually an internal ... MoreI bought these jackets for the Imperial College Sailing Club and we got them branded by an external company. We didn't realise this at the time and got our logos screen printed (the printers did a really bad job and they're peeling off but that's not H/H's fault) so YOU CAN GET YOUR JACKET EMBROIDERED!All our members are really happy with their jackets - we wear them both on and off the water with no problems (one of our members took his jacket skiing in France). These jackets are better value for money and look much nicer than Musto/Henri Lloyd/Gill alternatives. Thank you H/H!

I have the Midlayer vest and jacket, as well as a crew jacket and now a red Crew vest. As others said, it's a little trim fitting, but not like "technical" clothes (a certain Italian cycling brand with a scorpion logo comes to mind). If you wear a medium in regular clothes, get a medium, if you want to layer a lot, size up. The vest doesn't have a lot of features like fancy venting or mesh or other nonsense. What it does is provide a durable semipermeable membrane fabric with a functional mesh lining and durable construction for a comparatively reasonable price, in decent colors.I'm generally a medium in non-fashion, non-technical clothes (luckily I'm neither fashionable nor cool, so I wear what works for me). Land's End oxford shirts, tourist t-shirts, my big Icelandic sweaters, et cetera. In I'm 5'7" (1,7 m) with a 40" (102 cm) chest with a round rib cage – seriously, my lower ribs protrude a little. I'm 175 lbs (80 kilos) with a 30" inseam (76 cm ... my bike legs make trousers nearly impossible to buy, especially with everything being "skinny" or "slim" fit). The vest doesn't allow me actually to layer. It's comfortable with a boring cotton t-shirt and non-cool oxford shirt with enough room to breathe, eat lunch and move around. I find the armholes to be oddly perfect; and the high collar, like on the other Helly Hansen Crew series jackets and vests, is ideal. If it's cold enough for me to start layering with sweaters, I'll probably reach for something with sleeves. I like these jackets so much I may actually get an otherwise oversized Crew Midweight (for me a large) to fit over my Norwegian and Icelandic sweaters.I do have one complaint: the lining of the collar. While it's soft and comfortable, it's also a little warm. It would be nice if the lining wasn't there. My vest arrived earlier today (lightning fast, free shipping to Portland, OR) so I didn't genuinely get a chance to wear it. I imagine it will be as good as the other Crew series jackets and vests I have. I plan to wear this on crisp mornings and evenings and during some travel. I'll probably bring it with me when I ride the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route this July.I find that vests allow me to have an always-on layer that can supplement an outer hard shell layer and/or provide some wind and light precipitation protection over a base layer. If the weather is iffy and a little cooler and/or windy I can wear the vest over a 3/4 zip base layer (which is generally over a t-shirt) and stay pretty comfortable. Over that, I can wear a packable rain shell or even a Helly Hansen Crew jacket if I'm not moving or weather goes sideways. A real-world example: Stash the rain shell riding up the giant hill, wear it riding down the big hill. The Helly Hansen Crew Vest stays on and keeps me comfortable. In casual, day-to-day settings, like walking the dog this evening, when worn with the cotton t-shirt and oxford, the Helly Hansen Crew Vest was comfortable in the late-day shade and light breeze. For comparison, this Crew Vest fits a tiny bit looser than the Midweight Crew Vest I purchased on a whim at the Helly Hansen store in Banff, AB, Canada (before I left to ride a northern part of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route). I don't know if the insulation in the Midweight makes it fit tighter, or if Helly Hansen had a design change. Either way, I found the Crew Vests layer nicely with the Crew jackets.
I won this jacket at a work event at no charge to me so it was (tastefully) embroidered with some additional vendor logos. Its probably the best 'swag' I ever came home with from a professional conference as its very stylish, surprisingly light weight, and warmer than I expected. The micro fleece feels very cozy against your skin and I expect this to quickly replace my heavier winter coat for most days in daily use. I like the high collar and tuck away hood that is always there for unexpected bad weather. The only complaint I have (and others have that received the same jacket at my company) is that the sizes run small. I am almost always an XL size (I'm 5'11' @240lbs) but in this jacket I needed an XXL because I found it to be tight across my upper back, especially ... MoreI won this jacket at a work event at no charge to me so it was (tastefully) embroidered with some additional vendor logos. I am almost always an XL size (I'm 5'11' @240lbs) but in this jacket I needed an XXL because I found it to be tight across my upper back, especially when stretching/moving but the XXL works. Still since its the ONLY XXL I have ever purchased I think the brand just runs smaller or maybe its 'fitted' sizes that tend to not agree with my body. The person who gave it to me said a similar thing - he is always a size L but in this jacket he needed to get the XL so if you are on the fence about size go for the larger one.
I purchased this jacket in the navy blue in both a medium and large to see which one fits better. However once I received both jackets and tried them on neither one fit me correctly. The medium fit good in the shoulders and arms but was way to short. It came above the belt line. The large fit well for length but the arms were too long and it was big on me. I noticed that inside the tag said regular so I called HH to see if perhaps a slim version was available in the large or a tall version was available in the medium however I was informed that there wasn’t and I had no option but the return both jackets. I was really hoping one would fit right as it appears to be a well built jacket.I own other HH jackets in a medium and they fit well.
I bought this crew jacket for my son and not only does it do the job of keeping the rain off and the wind out excellently, but it's stylish whilst doing it! The cut is spot on, as though it was tailor made! The collar being lined adds to the comfort, which is a true bonus in bad weather.
Superb quality jacket - especially for the price - good fit and looks really smart too. Have bought another one from elsewhere too (with a hood). Would have bought from Hollands but they didn't have in stock in my size.
The quality of the CREW HOODED MIDLAYER JACKET is amazing. I expected good quality, not great quality. Helly Hansen is great... very stylish and modern. The jacket is covered in branding/logos; all in the right places. Logos are not too over excessive which I love. The fit is a nice... before I purchased CREW HOODED MIDLAYER JACKET I tried on the NORTHFACE MOUNTAIN LIGHT TRICLIMATE JACKET & also a PATAGONIA jacket both were size LARGE. So I assume the CREW HOODED MIDLAYER JACKET would be a size LARGE as well. But the size indicator is extremely accurate it sized to be as XL which were questionable but it was right XL was a perfect fit. The jacket does run small but advise to order a size up. I’ve worn this jacket many times in the short time I’ve owned it and am very happy with the purchase. It’s comfortable, warm, durable and keeps you dry in the rain. It fits larger sized phones in both the inside and outside chest pocket, which is nice. I purchased white because it looks clean and fresh but it’s also a bit of a challenge to actually keep clean...no fault of the jacket itself. I will be ordering another HH jacket for the coldest days. This jacket is perfect for those 35-55 degree (Fahrenheit) days in my opinion but I need something thicker for the freezing temperatures.
