If you have the same anxiety I've always felt when you lift that heavy speaker cabinet up over your head and try to line it up on the speaker stand, this unit is for you! I bought two of these units for my Yamaha Powered 15" speaker systems and I'll never have to lift these monsters over my head again.These are really heavy duty stands with wide spanning legs to keep the unit very stable. The crank mechanism is what really makes the difference: you place the speaker on the automatic gripping adapter at about chest height. Then you crank the speaker up as high as you want it. BUT I have seen a little bit of a quality-control issue. One of these stands had a minor problem when it arrived: only one of the sections would telescope. I pulled and pushed a bit and it snapped back into place and the unit works fine now. A guitar stand (double AGS stand) is also a wonderful piece of gear, but my first one arrived with the grip claws misaligned and had to be replaced.This is a minor caution: Musician's Friend and Hercules have been great about replacing the guitar stand and I didn't need any swap out with the speaker stand. My guess is that Hercules has these made in China for them and they've had to deal with some manufucturing glitches there.Bottom Line: I love these stands and would recommend them, but if you buy a Hercules product (at least for the near future) open it and check it out right away. Don't let it sit in the box until you need it for a gig.
A bit on the heavy side and the adaptor to fit all speaker sizes on top makes mounting the speakers a little difficult, but not a deal breaker.

As with all my previous experience with Hercules stands, this speaker stand is worth the extra cost. The cranking mechanism is robust and easy to operate. The stand is rock solid when the legs are optimally deployed. I'm 62 and have already had one hernia surgery for lifting a PA speaker over my head to mount it on a conventional stand. These stands will make my life much easier for set up and take down drills.
These speaker stands look impressive! They say that they can lift 100lds and I believe they can. I have other speaker stands but these seem more heavy duty than them and hopefully they will last as long.
Stands are very stable, easy to use an height adjust is smooth with crank handles. Great for main speakers on/off stage.
