Hestra's Army Leather Heli Ski was originally created for ski guides in western Canada who needed a reliable and warm ski glove for long days of snow and cold. Made of durable goat leather that provides exceptional grip and feel, and a waterproof, 3 layer polyamide fabric backhand. This 5 fingers ski glove has a range of smart functions that come in handy when you can't go in and warm up so often. The liner, for example, can easily be replaced if it gets moist or to adapt to varying activity levels and temperatures. And the long collar has a snowlock that, together with a Velcro strap on the wrist, ensures warmth stays inside the glove. A wrist strap reduces the chance of dropping the glove if you take it off to answer the phone or adjust your equipment. An included carabiner and an eyelet on the pinky finger makes it possible to hang the glove with its opening facing downwards on your ski pants or climbing harness – practical to avoid it being filled with snow while you work with just a thinner liner on your hands. A durable, flexible companion for skiers that spend a lot of time outdoors and who often find themselves far from the ski resort and its comforts. Excellent quality, as expected. I normally take an XL in most gloves. I already had a pair of Hestra size 10 gloves that fit very snug and trim but feel 'short' in the palm, so wanted something a bit bigger for full length and to put a thin liner inside. The size 11 fits well and is not too big to lose dexterity. I like the espresso brown colour for something different to most gloves.

Since 1936 Hestra does one thing, make gloves; and they are good at it. The Heli Insulated Gloves (Army Leather Heli Ski) are the best insulated gloves for snow sports. Removable liners let you dry the gloves overnight, and gauntlets keep out the snow. Goat skin / polyamide quality construction, tough, and warm; everything you need in a winter glove. Designed for Alpine Pro Ski Guides. Size runs a little small, might want to go up one size. I normally wear a size 9, but it was tight; size 10 fit like a glove should. Fingers are long enough, but not too long, snug fitting, but not too tight. Simply the best.

I have the Hestra Falt Guide Gloves and absolutely love them. Amazing comfort and very durable. I thought I would try these Army Leather Heli Ski gloves out for multiple different snow activities including riding my Fat Bike. Again, these do not disappoint. Amazing feel to the gloves. My hand size is 9.5" or 24cm circumference and I went with the XL. The fit and comfort is excellent although the fingers are just a tad long for me, but nothing to fret about. The extra space is welcomed on the bike. Plus, the glove will naturally shrink a bit over time with wet / dry cycles. Obviously I'll condition the leather. I love the removable liner and size of the gauntlet. I won't buy gloves that don't have a removable liner anymore. Don't hesitate, Cheers

Comfortable and flexible
27 December 2023

This glove is very comfortable to wear, has good mobility, and the size recommendations are very accurate. The length from my middle finger to my wrist is about 18.5cm, so size 8 is just right. The temperature in the ski resort is expected to be -10~-15 degrees, and I hope it can withstand the invasion of low temperatures. According to the information on the official website, this glove is not waterproof. If you want it to be waterproof, you have to choose a more expensive model. If I am satisfied with the ability to withstand low temperatures, I will buy five-finger gloves with waterproof function next time.

Excellent build. Sub-par water resistance = cold

This was the fifth season I've had these gloves, and I've used them for about several weeks of skiing each season in Colorado. These gloves are durable and look great. They have a bunch of scuffs now in the leather, but no holes, and the construction quality seems to be about as good as possible—way better than the about equally priced Swamy gloves I had before, the stitching of which ripped after a few uses.Unfortunately, these gloves simply aren't warm below about 20°F, and I think it's because the leather gets wet so easily. Almost every time I ski, the leather on the palms and fingers is soaked after just a few runs. I've tried applying the Hestra brand wax numerous times, following the instructions, but it hasn't helped at all, which is unfortunate because ... MoreThis was the fifth season I've had these gloves, and I've used them for about several weeks of skiing each season in Colorado. These gloves are durable and look great. I've talked with others on the slopes who've had these, and they said the same thing.

Fantastic gloves and quick shipping
2 December 2023

I have had the non-gauntlet version of these Hestras already for the past year and a half, and loved them so much, I wanted these Gauntlet versions.Fit and finish is top-shelf. They are warm down to -10 Celsius for me no problem. But, wearing them at around - 5 Celsius works too - no overheating. Gauntlets are so nice for certain jackets I wear. Highly recommended and quick shipping from Alti to Ontario.Size 10 and I usually wear XL in gloves which is a good match.

I measured my hands per
29 January 2023

I measured my hands per the Hestra website and the fit was spot on. I see why the gloves are so expensive and why Hestra has such a good reputation. The leather is supple and the gloves are way more dexterous than expected. It's like the gloves aren't even there when I work. The gloves are very well thought out. For ex. the liner attaches via Velcro all around so it's not loose at all, idiot cords are the perfect length, and the gauntlet length isn't long enough to get in the way. The liner feels like it might not keep me warm in cold temps like -20 C or below but haven't tried yet. Standing around in -10 C isn't a problem. The good news you can swap in a warmer liner which is my plan for colder temperatures.

Very little water repellancy
21 January 2021

Was very excited to get my first Hestra gloves, however, they've been returned. Everything about them was top notch other than they would quickly get completely soaked through. Pacific Northwest skiing can have humid/fog and temps on the warmer side. My first day skiing with the gloves they were quite quickly soaked through. Enough that I could feel the water squish with finger movement. Skied till noon then removed the liners over my sink and literally squeezed running water out of them. I think this would be an excellent glove for cold/dry climate skiing. Not for humid regions, get something with goretex. I've since ordered the Black Diamond Pro Guide, labelled as their top of the line glove with goretex and a removable wool liner, for the same $195 price tag. ... MoreWas very excited to get my first Hestra gloves, however, they've been returned. The Hestra goretex model simply is near impossible to find retailers that carry it, plus it is $35-50 more.

Worst gloves I've ever owned, warranty is a joke.
1 January 2020

Bought these gloves last year after reading rave reviews. 1st day I use them a little tab on the pull string breaks off before I even strapped into my board, no big deal I figured. Used the wax on them prior to my trip expecting some semblance of waterproofing since they're meant for the snow, which is just frozen water, so you know I figured they should keep that water off my hands. Well I was wrong, my hands were wet from an hour into riding until I was done. Still kind of liked them though and they were still warm so whatever. On about my 7th or 8th day I slide out on a groomer and stick my hand out to catch myself, and when I get to the bottom of the hill I notice the ENTIRE palm is completely shredded. On about my 7th or 8th day I slide out on a groomer and stick my hand out to catch myself, and when I get to the bottom of the hill I notice the ENTIRE palm is completely shredded. I've been boarding for 25 years, and I've done that exact maneuver 100s of times, and NEVER has a glove just melted from touching some slightly icy groomer snow. I contacted Hestra, and after about 20 back and forth emails they refused to cover them, saying I must have shredded them up carrying my board which is 100% not the case. So much for a lifetime warranty. If a glove can't handle touching icy snow, then either it's defective or the design is horrible. They did however offer me a 30% off coupon if I ever decided to buy any more of their garbage products. Stick to Black Diamond, I had a pair of those for 8 years with no problems, and bought a pair last year to replace these garbage gloves and they still look perfect.

Wow, these are nice gloves
5 December 2023

I have been thinking of investing in a pair of good ski gloves for some time. I finally decided to purchase these gloves made by Hestra. Am I ever glad I did, these gloves are so well made and comfortable to wear. Canadian winters can be very cold especially in the mountains and these gloves do not disappoint. They keep my hands warm. On super cold days I will wear merino liners for added warmth and comfort. Highly recommend you get yourself a pair.
