I purchased one of these backpacks for my son in the 10th grade last year. He always carries a ton of books and other stuff in his backpack and they normally tear up from it within a couple months. When I purchased this one at the beginning of the school year last year it still is holding together like I only bought it a month ago. They are durable and strong and have several pockets to keep their things separated and easy to get to. I especially love the little phone pocket with the earbud hole on this particular style. It keeps their phone protected and their earbuds from getting broke just throwing them in the backpack. They are large and roomy and can adjust through the side buckles to make more room. It has gotten me through all 4 years of college and beyond; the only noticeable wear is that the lining on the straps has frayed and looks like the straps are about to break, but they never do and the wear is still comfortable. This bag held all my books, notebooks, writing supplies, plus headphones, a drawing tablet, a kindle, all of my chargers, and my laptop itself. I still use this laptop to pack up for weekend trips; it easily holds everything I need for a day or two from clothing to hygiene to my tech! Very attractive and versatile backpack. Many pockets in various sizes and shapes that can hold my stuff securely and neatly without mess. Some complained about poor stitching but mine came in very well made considering the price. The orange belts all around the bag are attentive so I feel safe walking or bicycling on dark roads even they are not reflective. I could not image why many folks always carrying a black backpack especially with wearing a dark outfit together at night time. I did a lot of research before buying it as I'm replacing an 11 year old Swiss backpack that is finally showing it's age. I'm not disappointed with my purchase of this backpack.The backpack has a nice quality feel to it and has tons of pockets for organization. It has plenty of adjustments to help with heavy loads and features a decent amount of attachment points for securing items to the outside of the backpack. The zippers seal nicely when closed and doesn't feel cheap. Having the padded back with numerous grooves for airflow are a nice touch. The tablet compartment is great if you actually have one (or for storing documents you don't want wrinkled) and after over a year of use of school, weekend trips, and occasional travel, the seams are still in tact. The zippers are large and easy to pull, no sticking, and fit a travel lock quite well. The zippered side compartment is surprisingly deep and fits a variety of small stash items quite well. High Sierra could have added a fleece pocket for storing glasses or other delicate items as well considering the retail price.

I had this model for almost 10 years before wear and tear took their course. I bought it again, directly online from HS. Unfortunately, after 15 months, it developed a tear with very minor usage. Fortunately, their customer service was wonderful. I provided them with the pertinent information, emailed pictures, and a day later, they're sending me a new one! In this day and age, it's pretty amazing to have a company both provide a hassle-free experience BUT ALSO stand by their product(s).
Received in 2014. I use this everyday to carry work computer, and other work supplies, back and forth to the office. Since I carry a laptop in it I may not abuse it as much as other users. I have not had a zipper or seam fail. I have one seam starting to fray, but it is on the trim - not a structural/functional seam. I use the bottle mesh pouches and zippers every day and it still looks new. This is usually my carry-on bag on flights with no problems. Only issue: The new laptops are very thin and can slip past the padding at the bottom of the computer pocket. Do not stand the pack upright and "drop" the laptop into the pocket. This is my second High Sierra backpack and absolutely love the flexibility options for storage; the durability, and the ease and roominess of all the pockets visible and invisible. I can carry everything I need for work or out traveling. My first one is still in excellent shape,used it for school; albeit a little tight for all my work stuff so I ordered the XBT TSA Backpack and very pleased with the extra space and storage. You will never need to buy another backpack with the technology space and other space good for work and travel.
