Effective medicine for urinary crystals, but not the most nutritious food. I’ll buy some more to keep on hand if she starts having any urinary problems again.Based on our cat's reaction to this food, it is just 'ok' - they eat it because they have no choice. Wish they could make it a little more palatable - and affordable. It's sad that Hill's charges what they do, for this food - we have to have it to take good care of our kitties; we don't have a choice - and it's incredibly expensive for what it is. However, thanks to Petco and coupons we are getting it at a better price than ever before delivered to our door. I know research has to go into creating it and making it - and hopefully they are putting quality ingredients in it, but still - at $2 a can, it adds up ... MoreEffective medicine for urinary crystals, but not the most nutritious food. It is sort of a pate but not real smooth like some pate’s. Our cat loves it and we’re happy about that because he has to be on it the rest of his life for bladder support. We tried another RX brand for bladder support and the chunks of food were way too big and our little guy wouldn’t eat it. He just licked the gravy. So back to Hills and he was happy.

I basically buy this food because my vet advises it. But I think it's pretty overpriced to be honest. I don't know if I'll always be able to afford it but my cat used to have crystals which is why he needs it. I read the ingredients and it's pretty much like pate with actual real ingredients for cats. That's prob why it's so much money but besides it being expensive I'm happy it keeps my cat healthy.

For a formula that says it limits Magnesium Phosphorus and Calcium it sure has a lot of it compared to my other brand. Too bad Petco specifically states I can't name competitors. Why am I paying double and depending on the retailer/time of year sometimes almost triple the cost of other brands for this food for them to supposedly limit these three ingredients the (also supposedly) cause the stones - although there has been very limited studies since the 80s that have contradictory outcomes about that. ANYWAYS... If it works for your cats, I am glad for you. I am just probably upset because the dry food has so much comparatively and the wet food doesn't even list their Magnesium Phosphorus or Calcium contents (min or max) and I just paid for the third ER visit in 3 ... MoreFor a formula that says it limits Magnesium Phosphorus and Calcium it sure has a lot of it compared to my other brand. ANYWAYS... If it works for your cats, I am glad for you. I am just probably upset because the dry food has so much comparatively and the wet food doesn't even list their Magnesium Phosphorus or Calcium contents (min or max) and I just paid for the third ER visit in 3 less than years for my kitty and this is all I'm feeding him with struvite crystals (the kind that should be able to be controlled with food so they tell me). At least the dang cat eats the stuff. My last cat (dearly departed) hated the weight-controlled version and refused to even entertain the stuff.
My adopted kitty has been on this food for 6 years now. I supplement the canned with the dry, 2 dry a day one 1/4 can a day. He has done very well and has not had a urinary issues since being on this. Previously I had him in to the vet 2-4 times a year for the first year or so. He devours it, so I know he likes it and I'm happy it has kept him very healthy. He is now 15.
The product was delivered fast. Hills always male great food. My cat is overweight and has got a medical condition by vet prescribed me this product and since then i have seen lots of improvement iny cats health. Definitely a 100 on 100 recommendation for overweighted cats. Also petpost did a great job in delivering me this product asap. I would definitely buy from pet post again.
My cat, Scabby, was recently diagnosed with crystal formations blocking his urethra. As our resident fat kid, Scab could and would eat everything. Kale, Skinny Girl lime popcorn, linguine, Cheetos. You name it, he ate it. But after pay $2500 to keep him alive after his blocked urethra scare he is now on an extremely strict diet that even Gwenyth Paltrow would follow. Hill's C/D wet and dry cat food and that's it. His sister Winkie is also eating this now as feeding cats separately is about as easy as herding them. So far so good! The two scarf down their food and this mama is happy.
The food is expensive, but it’s price-fixed so it’s expensive anywhere you get it. Petco had a deal where we got the first order for $20 less if we signed up for repeated delivery. It was easy to sign up and was delivered to our door. The best part is that it really really works. Our kitten is completely back to normal after having a blocked urethra. He had been still having trouble getting urine out after the blockage was cleared and was often peeing outside of the litter box. After being on the prescription food for a few weeks, he has improved to be back to normal with his peeing and is now only using the litter box again.
The cats prefer Royal Kanin but it's gotten too expensive. I also don't know why their prescription for this food expires. It's for a chronic condition; it will never go away. The food says right on the label your cat will have to eat this for the rest of its life!
