I recently started giving this food to our 13 year old mini dachshund. She really seems to like it and the price is much more affordable than the veterinarian brand I was feeding her before. I try to change up her food every so often so I can insure she's getting all the nutrients she needs. One bag will normally last about a month (feeding chart recommends 1 cup per day for her weight) I like thay the bag is resealable to keep the food fresh longer.

I’m not crazy about some of the ingredients in this food. I make homemade and/or buy premium brands with no junk in it. That said, my Chihuahua developed a heart murmur, so I took him to the cardiologist. He was diagnosed with a mitral valve condition common in the breed. He was placed on 2 meds, and this food was on the list of heart-friendly foods that was recommended by the cardiologist. It’s been almost a year and he’s doing great. Since I have 3 other seniors, I put all them on this, too. Cardiologist said she’s seeing a lot of heart problems in dogs fed grain free/boutique type diets. I don’t want to regret not listening to the specialist, who is following the science. All four of my seniors are happy, feeling great and looking great.

I feed this to my 12-year-old male Pomeranian, who has joint pain from old age, a hip surgery, and a knee surgery. I do feel like the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from fish oils help with his joint pain and stiffness, but I do give him a daily fish oil supplement as well as a glucosamine supplement. I think the fish oil does give it a slightly bad smell, but he seems to think it smells delicious (so does my other dog, so I have to constantly keep an eye on them to make sure the other dog is not trying to take his food from him), so maybe the smelliness is actually a good thing, haha! He also has many missing teeth, but I feel like the small size of the kibble is easy for him to chew and eat. His coat is also silky and shiny, which I feel like I can also attribute ... MoreI feed this to my 12-year-old male Pomeranian, who has joint pain from old age, a hip surgery, and a knee surgery. I choose to feed my dog Science Diet, as a former veterinary assistant, because I know it is one of the few foods that has actually been clinically tested on dogs to ensure that it is safe, healthy, and effective for them to eat long-term.

I have 3 Pugs. My pets Doctor suggested that I start them on Senior food. All of my girls are seniors. I tried different foods until Science Diet was what they really liked. It’s healthy for them and they love it. So it was a win win for me. I just order through PETCO and they bring it to my door. So all is well at this household.
I got some of this dog food from a friend when her beloved dog passed. My two, 11 year old Shiz Tzu sisters are so picky in their dry food and they actually love this Hill’s Science food. I love the tiny kibble too!
My dog is reaching the senior age and it’s very important that he receives the nurishment accordingly. There is a great selection of foods that can be beneficial for him! This product has all my dog’s approval
My fifteen year old border collie mix was losing weight horribly fast. After a thorough check-up (Diagnosis? ... He's old!), our vet recommended a drastic food change. We jumped through hoops to find something to entice our oldster back to the food bowl - even home-cooking was "iffy." Your tiny, "Age Defying" kibble did the trick! The "Old Man" is eating regularly again and slowly gaining back the lost weight - three pounds up, five to go. But the best part is the return of his "Go-For-It!" attitude. On his last trip to Petco, he made a slow but steady beeline for the frisbee bin! His frisbee-catching days are long past, but he felt good enough to forget that. THANK YOU!!!! ps - And yes, we got him the frisbee. He carried it home, himself!
So once my dachshund turned 11 years old, I noticed he didn't like his old food anymore. The same food he has had for basically his whole life, he suddenly didn't want to eat it anymore. It made me panic and this was during the very bad part of the pandemic so vets were closed. I did SO much research on dog food, especially food for seniors. This option came up with amazing reviews and I bought it the same day and picked it up from a petco store. IMMEDIATELY, he LOVED it!! OMG like he just became a whole new dog after. This was in the end of April, I am now writing this review in mid-december and he still loves it soo much! Best senior dog food IMO!
Hello, my name is Jason and I don't have a question, but I just wanted to thank everyone there for the amazing gift that your food has been! I have a toy poodle named Rain, who is currently twelve years old. I have had her since she was six months, and I was eight and a half. When she first came to us, she was skin and bones. The big dogs would push past her and steal her food, and when she did get food, she couldn't hold much down. It took us a few tries to find a food that her stomach would easily tolerate. We tried her on science diet, and that was the first time she didn't throw up after eating. She now eats "Science Diet: age defying small breeds" and I couldn't be happier. She started gaining weight quickly on science diet as a puppy, and now that she's ... MoreHello, my name is Jason and I don't have a question, but I just wanted to thank everyone there for the amazing gift that your food has been! We tried her on science diet, and that was the first time she didn't throw up after eating. She now eats "Science Diet: age defying small breeds" and I couldn't be happier. She started gaining weight quickly on science diet as a puppy, and now that she's twelve, there are no signs that she's ever missed a meal. We took her to the vet recently for a check up, and they said that while her heart and lungs sound perfect for a dog her age, her eyes no longer show any reaction to light. We've known for a while that her eyesight has been deteriorating, but now she is fully blind. That being said, I will take a healthy but blind dog any day over a sighted dog that's sick and suffering. Rain is a wonderful dog, and I can't imagine where my life would be without her. I am autistic and verbally communicating has always been extremely difficult, but I was able to practice talking to Rain, and improve my abilities to talk. If I have a nightmare, she will curl up on my bed and lick my cheek until I calm down. I love her so much, and I don't know where I would be without her. Thank you for caring about animals enough to make a food that she can eat! I know she either wouldn't be here, or would have a poor quality of life without her Science Diet! Thank you for loving her as much as I do.
I ordered the 11+ as usual as I have 3 rescue dogs over the age of eleven. Have always loved the product. When it arrived the product was for 7+. I took it to the store to exchange it and was told Science Diet is no longer making the 11+ product. I am extremely unhappy. Wish I had known before it was purchased it. Or that they had just sent me nothing.
