Why does this product cause bad breath? I've been using Science Diet dry dog food for my pets for 15+ years and never had any issues. I switched to Senior Vitality, the two dogs get horrible breath. Switched to another SD product, bad breath went away. Forgot, and bought SV and bad breath came back. No teeth brushing, even 3-4 times a week cures the bad breath. WHAT UP SD?

I put my dog on this food when it first came out. My dog started acting like a puppy again and would play with her toys that she hadn't touched since she was under a year. As the years went on, I saw more of a difference every year like she was getting younger. She plays with her toys now and runs around the house and is super happy. She always acted like an old lady but after having her on this food, she acts like a 10 month old puppy. I am sad that I can longer find this food in stores. I can only buy it online.

My dog is older now and I notice that he's put on some weight. I decided that I wanted to get him eating better food on a regular schedule. I went to my pet store and planned on getting a small bag of the weight management formula but seen a $7 off coupon of the Youthful Vitality so I scooped that bag right up! My dog took to the food right away and I have more trouble with him getting on a schedule than I do with getting him to eat the food. It's been about a month now and he has shed some pounds and is still happy with the food. He always looks forward to feeding time! My dog is a Lhasa Apso, I get him the large breed option. The pieces of food are the perfect size for him, they are not very big at all but I feel that he would scarf down the small breed option. ... Recently my dog was desperately ill. We changed from a name brand grain free dry food to this current science Hill food. He adjust it extremely easily and devours it. I am amazed at how he’s recovered from significant digestive problems. The vet and the emergency hospital both suggested science hill. I am so glad that I made this change. Prior to this my dog was taking Rimadyl and cosequin for arthritic hips. Since his significant severe Gastro problem he was bleeding rectally, wouldn’t eat or drink, or couldn’t move needed emergency treatment. He is no longer needing any medication just the science hill food. It’s totally amazing what a change within a few weeks. I am very happy with the science Hill food.
Hills Dog food is one of the best dog foods, in my opinion. This food is good for over 7 year old dogs and my 2 dogs are 13 and 14 years old. Even though they are small (8 pounds each) they like this food. It is nutritious and they are their getting vitamins from it too.
Our 15 year old dachshund has been having trouble with doggie dementia, lethargy and continence. I switched her to Youthful Vitality about a little over a year ago. I am really pleased. Her bladder control has improved to the point that she no longer requires diapers. Her cognitive abilities may have improved a little but I'm not positive. What I am positive about is that she has not gotten worse. For me that's a win because she was going downhill quickly. She is still relatively lethargic most of the time but I do notice that she is pretty frisky after a long rest. She has even played with me a couple of times and yesterday she ran around the entire house while out for a potty break. She used to take the stairs up and down our deck much slower, but now she approaches them with confidence and quickly climbs the stairs. She has never been a picky eater, and she continues to eat this food without hesitation. My dog seems to like it but she is also a Golden Retriever and will eat anything. I purchased this as her regular dog food has been out of stock for quite some time and have had to resort to purchasing a different food instead. I purchased the same brand (Hill's) but for older dogs. Not huge sized biscuits which is great as sometimes her regular food will get stuck in her gums. Would purchase again
Kibble is too small for my border collie and gets stuck in her teeth that she sits on her bed after eating trying to get food unstuck. Will lead to more tartar and teeth cleanings. Food is likely fine but I have very active 13 yr old and want to give her this food but have to mix with Science Diet Adult Healthy Mobility Large Breed Chicken Meal as the chunks are larger and harder and don't stick to her teeth. This Adult 7+ senior vitality needs to come in different sized food kibble because this kibble is too small for medium to large dogs.
Science Diet has kept my Molly girl going for many years. She eats it so well without any unpleasant after affects. When she first came home from the shelter, she was overweight. We started with Light, helping her drop about 20 pounds. She ate that for years, but now I have her on this Senior recipe, and she loves it, too.
