My cat is 14 with what appears to be something like IBD (for about 4 years now). We have not had him scoped, so I can't confirm. Lots of diarrhea. It usually gets worse in the summer each year. He's really struggling this year. Down to 4.5 lbs. I can't say that z/d has been a miracle, mainly because I can't get him to eat it. He devoured the first can, but that's it. So...how I use z/d is that I feed him whatever very finely ground pate I can find. If he's begging for food but won't eat what I put down, I syringe feed him some z/d. So he's getting this mixed in with a lot of other brands. Using z/d along with prednisalone, he is doing a bit better. You can see the problem. I don't quite know what's working. However, I could not get my cats to eat this wet food (and they are not extremely picky eaters).I had read the reviews, so the very first time I put it out, I made sure to mix it with water. The cat who is supposed to eat it, wouldn't even get close to it. She sniffed at it and refused to eat for two nights. My other cat licked at the water. I finally mixed it with the canned food they do like, and they ate around it. I now stupidly have almost two full trays of this garbage. What a waste of money!If you try this, don't do what I did and buy for a whole month. Buy as little as possible and try to get them to eat it. Otherwise, like me, you waste the test and lots of money.

My cat has food allergies and asthma. We figured out fish was a major allergen for her but it's near impossible to find highly rated food without some component of fish in it. She was previously on Purina one chicken and turkey formulations but fish is a byproduct in both. Vet prescribed Hill's ZD and my god this is expensive. As all the other comments have said, the consistency is beyond gross. I haven't tried the water trick yet because tbh I forgot about it. The smell is horrendous and my cat's breath and poop have started smelling horrible now too. Fingers crossed a miracle happens when I add water. Everything smelling bad is definitely better than her scratching her face off and getting ear infections constantly though

I really wanted to remain optimistic about this food, but it is very temperamental. Without any doctoring, it is literally chicken liver jello. If you accidentally add too much water, it's a soupy mess. Not to mention, heating it up and adding a little water doesn't even make it easier to mix, as it just seems to turn the food into a paste. Two of my three cats were recommended this around the same time for similar GI issues, and while they seemed to tolerate the wet food at first, it has been increasingly difficult to convince them that it's "yummy." It does not have an appealing smell or texture, so I'm not sure how we can even expect cats to like this. I have to mix it with water to make it more bearable. The texture wasn’t this muddy before (it was more like gel or paste in previous years). I don’t know what they’re putting in these things to save them money!Within 8 months the price went from $82 to $91 to 95$ as of now.WORST thing - I found cans with MOLD inside of them and reported them to chewy. However, and most importantly--it really does help her itches. I've tried everything I can think of *NOT* to use this food, but the result always ends the same-- a miserable cat in a cone for 10 weeks. I also wish this food fixed ALLLL her allergies-- she ends up with scratches 1-2x a week, but they're things we can manage at home. We've been through everything else, and the other brands/product lines that she didn't vomit at first and that she would eat either changed their formulae or had frequent vomit-inducing batches.
