The product fulfills its purpose as a very robust bike lock fully. However, I think the idea of a lock around the waist is a better design for many men's wardrobe, than for many women's wardrobe. I find it hard to use it with the kinds of jackets I wear and end up putting it in my bike basket instead - which I guess is not how it's intended to be used.

Really happy with my purchase, it’s a great lock with a great function. Gold rated so it satisfies most insurance companies, feels extremely strong and sturdy, I have no problems leaving my bike all day while I’m at work. Yes it’s heavy, but you honestly don’t feel it around your waist once your in the saddle, and it doesn’t interfere with anything else (I wear a 20-30l bag each day for my commute). In terms of the locking diameter, it’s comparable to a large Dlock, with the added bonus of flexibility. The colouring is great and makes you very visible to other road users. The chain sleeve itself is replaceable and washable, which is great in this weather. I highly recommend it!

so its arrived! What an amazing product!First impression though, it isn't white. All the images make it look like a nice pure white colour. But it isnt... its more of a grey. Ive since had another look on the website and i see that there is no colour choices so i guess the flash is on during the capture of all the advert pictures. A bit decieving.

This is a great chain but I find it too short and the strapping /buckle of the “wearable” bit is a nuisance when trying to lock the chain . I bought a 1m heavy duty chain to go with this and removed the strapping and now it’s fine . A great visual deterrent .
Product as described. Good strong wearable chain lock, which will meet my insurer's requirements, if ever needed. Best price I could find for this particular lock on the internet and quick delivery. What more do you want...
I've tried quite a few gold rated locks, but always struggled to find a good way to carry them.I was reluctant to gamble on the hiplok at the RRP, but for ÂŁ65 it's a safer bet. So far, it's been fantastic. I've done about 70 miles with it (mix of xc mountain and road commuting) and never notice I'm wearing it.The only negative is that the reflective material gets easily scuffed. It's also worth noting that there is an earlier model of this lock floating around the Halfords stock system. In the earlier version, the belt strap fails to stay done up and can be dangerous when riding. Check this before you buy - it's easy to test as you can literally pull the strapping through the adjustment buckle by hand.Halfords staff in Bletchley were very helpful with this order.
I had the original Hiplok Gold but unfortunately the keys got lost in a move. The design is so good, I knew I needed another one. Yes, it’s a little heavy but there’s simply no way to have a lock and chain this secure without some weight. You don’t notice it when you’re wearing it. I then saw the Superbright version and thought, “Why wouldn’t I want a reflective one?” It’s a great product and Halfords did the best price.
This is a burly lock (with the safety rating to back up the feel and appearance) and it certainly locked my bike securely. I really wanted to like the Hiplok; it's comfortable to wear and is a neat idea. However, the more I used it, and with different backpack configurations, I couldn't convince myself I liked it better than the locks I already own. I think whether this is the right lock for you comes down to your specific use conditions.I typically ride with a backpack, and with one of my packs that sits higher on my back the Hiplok worked well, but with my bike commuting specific pack the pack's internal frame and waist belt conflicted with the lock. Riding with panniers the lock was comfortable on my hips; however, with that configuration, I'd rather strap a U-lock to my rack and not have the weight of the lock on my person. My other gave the lock a few test commutes and agreed it was pretty comfortable to ride with (didn't interfere with her backpack) and pointed out it would be nice for commuters who don't wear a belt to slip their U-lock into for carrying.I can see where the length and flexibility of the Hiplok chain might help if you aren't always able to lock to a bike rack and typically need to lock to large objects. I found the floppiness of the chain to be cumbersome; it just wasn't as easy to pass the Hiplok through wheel spokes or chainlink fencing. For sizing, I have a 29" waist and 36" hip measurement. While the lock says for waist 28"-44", it sits on your hips as the name implies. I had to keep the lock as small as it would go and even then felt it would slide down some and bump into my legs as I pedaled. If you're on the small end of the size range, I would recommend trying it on first or buying somewhere with a good return policy. In summary, it's not a bad product and I would recommend it for someone whose use scenarios require the Hiplok's features. I just never found myself in a situation during my normal commuting where I'd rather have the Hiplok over a nice U-lock.
Not actually used it yet as I'm waiting for my bike. However it's exactly what I was looking for. It is weighty but that's to be expected. The seatbelt style clip is so handy. This was the best price around and delivery was super quick. Well done Halfords!
This was the most expensive lock in the shop (ÂŁ89) but I guess you get what you pay for. It is easy to carry as you can wear it either as a belt or across your shoulder / chest which might suit most as it is quite heavy.Only down is that Halfords also sell locks for half this price which carry an insurance guarantee that if your bike is stolen they will replace it for free.My view is put the strongest lock you can find on it and hope the deterrent factor and time it will take to cut through it is enough to stop the serious thief from even attempting to steal it.Overall, a quality product that should do the trick, fingers crossed.
