We've been buying cacao nibs for over 10 years. We've tried many different brands in that time but keep on coming back to honest to goodness. We blend the nibs in hot water to make a sugar free hot cacao drink that has just the right amount of bitterness for our afternoon "not coffee" fix. Our usual bricks and mortar supplier isn't stocking them any more so we are back to ordering direct online. Delighted with the new packaging for the 5kg bags. They sit so neatly on a pantry shelf and are much easier to refill our cacao jar with.I like the nibs over the powder for a more chocolate type flavour. This is a favourite hot chocolate drink made as follows: 2 tablespoons nibs per cup into a jug, add roughly half a cup 85 degree water per person. Grind with a stick mixer for a 3-4 minutes. Strain through a loose sieve - should be less than a teaspoon of sediment caught by the sieve. Divide between cups and top up with extra hot water. The result is a decadent, rich hot dark chocolate drink. Sometimes we add a pinch of chilli or cayene as well. There will be sediment at the bottom of the cup, but I've found using a finer strainer takes away from the richness of the drink.I also sometimes grind the nibs in our coffee grinder to add an extra layer of flavour to chilli.Delivery has always been quick and efficient, and every order always complete and well packed. My questions have always been answered promptly. I've been very happy with all aspects of the honest to goodness service over the years.
