Honeywell CS10XE Indoor Evaporative Cooler
The Honeywell 300-412 CFM indoor evaporative air cooler offers an energy efficient cooling option when the air is hot with low humidity, such as desert areas like the southwestern United States (recommended humidity level is 60% or less for maximum efficiency). Honeywell evaporative air coolers do not require power hungry components like compressors. The low power consumption (only 102 watts) translates into significant savings on energy bills compared to using air conditioners. Just unpack, add water/ice, place near open door or window, plug it in, and use. This unit is ideal for indoor use in open environments with adequate cross ventilation up to 175 square feet. Four fan speeds and oscillating louvers evenly distribute cool air through the honeycomb cooling media while the carbon dust filter cleanses the air. For those living in more humid climates, consider portable air conditioning units or window air conditioners.

They can call it an "evaporative cooler", but this is really just a super-expensive fan. You can run it all day and it will make no measurable difference to room temperature, even in a small space. Even worse, it's noisier than a helicopter taking off, and produces a whole range of secondary noises, from the glug-glug of the pump, to the drip-drip of the water tank. If you're buying it for the bedroom, as I did, there's zero chance of you sleeping while it's running, which makes the Sleep Timer somewhat redundant. There's also some sleight of hand going on here. Bing Lee lists this fan in their air-conditioning section. I was reluctant to buy any one of these, due to the bad reviews. Seems like the bad reviews come from those who expecting this to be more than a swamp cooler, or who live in the wrong climate. We live in the mountainous desert of Utah, where evaporative cooling is commonly used in place of central air. There’s one bedroom in our home that isn’t reached by the cooler, bought this for it. Very impressed with this little unit. Easy to fill, runs all night without having to refill it. Drain it once a week, clean the tank once a month. Pretty simple maintenance. Keeps the room nice and cool.My only complaint would be the length—or lack of—in the power cord. If you’re used to evaporative cooling, and live in the desert, this is a perfect little device. Our big evaporative cooler needed maintenance and we used this for a few days to get us through. We were confined to one room, but it kept the temp bearable. Good to have on hand for emergencies.

For one, it has wheels on the bottom so that it’s easy to slide around even when it’s full of water. And the water basin is detachable so that it’s possible to fill it up in one go or empty and dry for storage.Evaporative cooling is supposed to work best in dry climates, but we’re in Boston where the summer can get mildly humid. But even though the air that the cooler blows isn’t “chilly” like an air conditioner, it does feel really nice and colder than a regular fan.Overall, the Troav team is really happy to have the CS10XE as part of our offerings to our users. It’s easy to use, has no hassle in setup, and, especially for its price, does its job well.

During summer time this room is like living in hell :-))) if I don't use AC. Let's be honest the product I bought it from other website but speaking of this product it can help if you don't have AC in your room. All you do is put cold water in the tank it can carry 10 liters of water but I don't put 10 liters I just put from 6 liters to 8 liters because putting much water it overflow. I tried putting ice inside the tank but seems it lower the fan speed a bit so I cancel the ice just cooled water from refrigerator. During 90F to 105F plus temp the technique is putting this thing on the side while facing across of the window while the window is open to let the air flow inside the room, Let it run at "High" Fan while choosing the "Coo"l for circulating the cool water ... MoreDuring summer time this room is like living in hell :-))) if I don't use AC. The other fan there on the picture is assisatance :-) I don't like that Electric fan due to not strong in giving an air if you have Lasko Electric Fan it's good because it's strong but having two of this cooler will work great to fight the hell temperature. Dude, For indoor cooler in this year, At 300 CFM still a good choice wishing they have more than 300 CFM.
This is a swamp cooler, not an air conditioner. And even more than that, it's not meant to cool a large area like a room or outdoors. The bad reviews all seem to be from people that expect it to cool in humid or wide conditions, but that's not what it's designed for.I had a great time with this air cooler. I live in Arizona where things are really dry, so this was the perfect appliance for me. It's not quite a replacement for an air conditioner, but it's still excellent. I set it up with two windows open like I was told to do so and then used it to cool myself overnight. Worked like a charm!
After receipt, I noted that the instructions recommended cross ventilation to work properly. This was not noted in any of the information provided prior to purchase. It is greatly inconvenient having to keep a window and door open to satisfy this requirement and did little to contribute to cooling the air. Especially in hot weather. For many years, I previously had a more compact unit that used a 1 quart water bottle. It ran efficiently without having to worry about cross-ventilation and made a 10 degree cooling difference.Unfortunately for me, this unit is heavier and cumbersome. The 2.5 gallon base put too much moisture in the room and although I added ice, it became uncomfortably warm and muggy. I tried working with it for a few days, but eventually gave up. ... MoreAfter receipt, I noted that the instructions recommended cross ventilation to work properly. Purchased this cooler in hopes that it would cool my small living room during the dog days of summer.Pros: no venting to outside required; cools the person it is facing. Gave it 3 stars because it is neither good nor bad. Does give off cool air.Cons: uses a lot of distilled water if you run it for a long time; only cools you if you are sitting right next to it. What I don't understand is if it is 100 outside you must have a door and window open for proper air ventilation and it must be near an open door/window? This defeats the purpose. You are letting in the heat in in order to run the cooler?? Would I buy again: Maybe only because it did offer some relief as long as I sat next to it. Works great as a fan, but pricey for that purpose.
My first evaporative cooler and have to say, it is not as cold as air con (expected) but much better than a fan. My room is full of windows and gets really hot from early to late afternoons. With a normal fan, you'd just be circulating and blowing hot air around but with this, the air you do get is very nice and cool.HOWEVER, I pretty much have to place it quite close to my body to feel any cool air. Other parts of the room still feel quite warm so this is not effective for cooling the room (had to close the blinds halfway to cool the room). You do feel the extra humidity to your room but being in Sydney means this isn't too much of a problem.Overall - Better than a conventional fan but still long way to go to reach A/C levels of room cooling.
This product is not bad overall. However, the manual does not indicate the water tank capacity. Found in the description that it will hold 10 gals. The cooler shut off for low water level last night. Filled it this morning, and not likely to really hold 10 gals because after 3 gallons of water it is leaking all over the floor! Very difficult to read the water fill line to know how much water is really in the water tank. Appreciate it if anyone has good idea of how much water actually fills this cooler. Can't recommend this cooler if we can't fill it properly and read water fill line easily.
Pros: I had read reviews saying that this unit worked in southern CA where we live. However, it truly needs a desert climate, with humidity less than 25%.When I tested the unit, humidity was 56% in the room, with temperature of 79 degrees. This air cooler only brought the temperature down to 77 degrees, and humidity went up to 65%.The folks at BUYDIG.com were wonderful. We were able to return the unit for a refund.I would not purchase this air cooler for Los Angeles area, BUT I would definitely purchasemerchandise from Buydig.com!Cons: Please see above.Other thoughts: As I wrote, Buydig.com is an honest place to shop. They stand by their word.
