Excellent Lock Box good service

I looked and looked for a lock box and couldn't find a box that was affordable and good quality. I found this Honeywell box on line at Bed Bath and Beyond and it was both, good quality and affordable. It was shipped to me quickly as promised. Thanks. The whole experience was great.

Excellent safebox for small items

The safebox is quite heavy; and is a bit larger than I pictured (but exactly as measurements state). I had difficulty locking it the first time, not realizing the hinged latches can't be "latched" until the box is locked first. Otherwise, no problems; I feel that it will protect my items from just about anything. I need a small fireproof and waterproof safebox that can easily be taken in a backpack. Although this box is way too large for that, I am keeping it anyway. Good investment.

Good for Smaller Items

I thought that when the product description said that it fits "letter" size documents "flat" that it meant that I would not have to fold important paperwork. However the size of the chest will only fit documents that are folded or in envelopes. Its great to be able to have all of my items stored securely; and the chest definitely feels sturdy.

Honeywell 0.15 cu ft / Waterproof 1/2 Hr. UL Fire Document Chest

It's very heavy, to small for fitting 8.5" x 11" papers that I had to fold in half. If I could have afforded the bigger size I may have gotten it. For older people it is very heavy for them to move about.

Humidity build up. Weak lock

humidity builds up in this horribly causing documents to be wet to the touch. and I live in Phoenix Arizona where we normally do not have problems with humidity.it is difficult to store this because it has to sit horizontal. and it is very very heavy for its size. and that the lock is a flimsy piece of 16 inch sheet metal. and the lock itself started not working after less than a year of occasional use.

I needed a waterproof, fire resistant box. I didn't need the lock (on a hand held box, what's the point?). I can pick the lock in 5 seconds all day with a bobby pin. Don't be fooled by the key, the pins are only on one side, and only two even need to be picked to open it. The lock

Missing keys

I bought one of these a while ago and when I finally opened the box, the keys were missing. This is clearly the fault of the manufacturer. I no longer have the receipt so it is difficult getting replacement keys and the manufacturer, LHLP inc, refuses to reimburse me the cost of the safe. LHLP licenses the Honeywell name, so this product is not really made by Honeywell.

Perfect size for safe in a safe

I purchased this Honeywell 1102 to create a digital storage safe-in-a-safe. Perfect size to hold a backup drive, flash drive, and couple of compact disks if needed. My larger Hallon safe protects my paperwork down to 350 degrees if needed. Then I put the Honeywell 1102 inside of the Hallon safe. This combination gives me more storage than a larger straight up digital safe good down to 125 degrees. I am happy with my setup.

We've dropped the chest in the backyard on a patio stone to make sure it won't pop open if dropped. We also sprayed it with a garden hose for a few minutes and not a drop got inside the chest. We never tested it by submerging it.We don't recommend trying these sorts of tests yourself. Not because we're professionals and you're not, but the folks at Canadian Tire, while good about refunds, probably won't take back the safe if you drop it or spray it. The damage is hard to hide.The only problem we have with this fire chest is one shared by all security chests: it's easy for thieves to grab and go with your valuables. With a lot of patience and some cobalt drill bits, you can bolt this sucker to some immoveable object in your house.
