Finally a curling iron that gives my very fine, but thick, stick straight hair a curl that actually lasts all day. I love everything about this iron. The barrel heats up super fast and the clip keeps my hair in place. My problem with most others is that my hair slides right out of the clip, making it almost impossible to get a good curl. I've had a Babyliss Pro 1.25 inch iron for nearly 10 years and it just died on me last week. I went to ulta today to replace it and saw this iron, thinking I'd try something new-big mistake.Most of the poor reviews on this curling iron are due to the fact that it breaks within just a few uses, however, I dislike it so much I won't be keeping it long enough to find out if it's lifespan is short or not.PROS: Sleek design, clip doesn't crimp hair, creates soft, shiny waves, digital read is clear and obvious.CONS:This iron smells. I have had a pretty love relationship with Hot Tools especially their black and white edition line. I bought the 1" in this for more of a tighter wave. I was drawn to the sleek design and to have a digital display. Before use it seemed fairly easy to use. As soon as I plugged my curling iron in, it wouldn't go past 180 degrees or down. I tried turning it on and off and unplugging it and nothing. I should've listened to other reviews and not bothered. Very disappointed especially for the price point. I'll be going back to my Babyliss and Bioionic stylers from now on

Now for the curling iron and how it performs. It heats very quickly, which I love. I hate having to wait for my tools to warm when I'm in a hurry to get ready. It is lightweight and easy to hold, so it doesn't tire my arm as quickly as others I've used. The clamp is of good quality and easy to use. It has good spring to it, if that makes sense. As for the curls, it gives beautiful spiral curls that are shiny and bouncy. My hair typically doesn't hold curl very well, however with this, it seems to hold longer than it normally does. I'm very impressed with this curling iron and I look forward to trying more by HOT TOOLS! I definitely recommend!
