Buy it. it's the best value out there and a super good axe. Needs sharpening. I bought all kinds of expensive axes.turns out this new is the only one I need. When I go to the field I leave those expensive ones at home and take this one every time. The best all around axe you can get. Their such a good value I ordered more just to have in the cars at all times.

Other than poor head fitting( which hasn't caused issues yet) that I can nearly see through it is the most used axe I have. Best size and weight for most chores. I have used mine extensively on cedar eradication but also on oak an cottonwood trees. Handle needed a little boiled linseed oil but that's normal. These axes are made by a very well known (expensive) Swedish maker gransfors bruks. Sometimes hults bruks. Not sure if it's the ones that do not pass inspection or what but they are still higher quality than anything else you will find. The head retains its edge super well.

This small axe was everything I was wanting and expecting for my purpose. I wanted something larger, slightly heavier and longer than a traditional hatchet.....yet could still fit in or attached to a pack. The camping axe from Husqvarna is exactly that and more. The forging is excellent, with just enough roughness left to it to scream "hand-forged"; the handle is of really nice grain and density American Hickory and is perfectly fitted to the head and I love the unfinished feel. I plan on giving it a slight walnut stain, but it looks great just as is. I could see just waxing it, or a slight clear coat, even. I think my favorite thing is the shape and weight of the axe head; they've reduced the weight by making it about 1/2 to 3/4" less "tall", and yet the beard is ... MoreThis small axe was everything I was wanting and expecting for my purpose. Very elegant, but still plenty of mass left in the design for strength. I would love to see them take the exact design and scale it up 30%, with the same width handle, only about 6 or 7" longer, like a short Boys Axe.....I'd buy that one too. The leather sheath that comes with the axe is very good quality and design, as well. The edge needs some work, but is still plenty sharp if you need to get right to some hacking; I'm sure they leave it that way on purpose, so you can put the edge you like on it. Anyhow 10 out of 10, in ALL respects....a great value and top quality product. BUY this.....you WILL love it!!!

I got this axe as a gift for my 18th birthday. That was 3 years ago and it’s been reliable since then. It’s been backpacking, camping, logging, and used as a carpentry axe in the garage. It still keeps an edge and is the perfect balance of weight and versatility. Very impressed.
We have had this almost 2 years next to out wood stove and it is fantastic for starting fires and breaking up firewood stove side. Fantastic size, shape works great and all around High quality tool.Make sure to keep oiled properly when staying near wood stove. By doing so we see absolutely no signs of drying, cracking, or shrinking.
If you want an axe that will set your standard for the product. Look no further. There are other high end Swedish made axes to be had, one of those makers undoubtedly makes these with the Husqvarna Brand for around 2/3's the price. The only thing given up is the finish of the axe head.
I have used this as my felling axe. I have used this axe in various compacities. It hold its edge and sharpens to razor hair popping edge! I have limbed, carried fire wood, taken it on professional jobs. Used it to lop off limbs that are not worth starting a saw for. I clear trees professionally it has been my companion. Might have to re-haft but that is my fault not the axe. Would highly recommend.
I have an 2 year old Husqvarna axe/hatchet that has the same handle length as this Camp axe but the head is much heavier. This new Camping Axe is lighter and easier to use for camping, hiking, or just playing around in the woods. I've split some kindling with ease and took down a few small trees (4" dia) with no problem. Its been in my pack several times now and it carry's great. I gave an honest 4 star because the handle has some sap wood running down. Its not real bad sap wood but obvious enough that it should not have been used. However, I am not abusive and will not "use it out" in my life time.
Gransfors WHO?!?!Put in a little effort tuning this baby up and you will have a lifelong companion! It's as simple as that!My only complaint is the way the prices fluctuate....
I have owned this axe for over a year now. I take it camping as well as using it at home (I have a lot of trees in my back yard). The axe can be honed razor sharp and holds the edge for a lot of cutting. The ergonomics are really good. For a lighter axe, it cuts deep and clean. At 3 lbs. I have taken it on back packing trips and use the axe to process firewood, make kindling, and even make feather sticks. The longer handle makes this axe safer to use that a hatchet for processing fire wood. Yet it is light enough to choke up on the handle and use it one handed like a hatchet. In the yard the axe does a good job of removing dead limbs from trees and taking down the occasional small tree. This a great all around tool that does everything I need a small axe for. I bought one for my oldest son who has also found it to be a go to tool for himself as well. I have found the quality to be equal to Wetterling and with a litttle honing on par with Gransfor Bruks which I also own.
