I like the simplicity, capacity, and weight of the Recon. For a 1L bottle, it weighs next to nothing, and the design is super simple. So I was really bummed when it broke on my first hike. I dropped the bottle and the cap cracked.I went to the Hydrapak website to look for a replacement and they don't offer them. I wrote to Hydrapak customer service and they never responded. That was a month ago.Bummer. I liked the design. Now it's held together with tape but it leaks when I try drinking.

I bought one of these (750 mL, purple cap) six months ago for car/air trips. While I love my insulated stainless bottle at work, I wanted something for travel that was lightweight, easy to clean, would not leak on planes (hello cabin pressure) and that the family could *somewhat* hygienically share because apparently I’m the only person who consistently remembers their water bottle. This bottle has performed admirably on all fronts. It really is as easy to clean as the videos demonstrate, and it has held up great. After the most recent trip, my husband finally relented from his “I already have a water bottle” stance and upgraded to one of these. We also purchased a 500 mL for the kids to use under supervision. I also needed it to be the correct height so that it sticks up high enough to be easy to grab but not so high as to fall out or catch on rocks or branches and be pulled out.This is the first plastic bottle that exactly fits. I did extensive research on ChatGPT to find the perfect bottle with all the specific features I wanted, and I can say I found it: completely transparent, lightweight, made of plastic, 750 mL, compatible with my backpack, and very easy to wash both by hand and in the dishwasher. I loved the pleasant experience of drinking from it as if it were a glass! For me, the only downside is that the mouthpiece is completely exposed when it falls to the ground, for example, but this detail would never stop me from buying the bottle.
I received this water bottle as a gift with my auto-ship subscription with Muir Energy. I love the look, I love the Muir but sad to say I quickly washed with a plastic brush because my dishwasher wasn't full. Now my water looks cloudy and I won't be taking it out to work or hikes. Sounds superficial but it's my own brain thinking the water looks dirty. I absolutely loved how clear, clean and crisp the water looked before I used a brush to clean it.
I bought one of these when they launched. Loved it. So easy to chug waterfalls of water. Ordered 4 more, now I have 5. 5 super chugable water bottles that leak water all the time if not left upright. Set it on the seat of a car, wet seat. Take it on a plane in your backpack, soak everyones bags in the overhead. Leave it in the trunk of the car, soaked trunk. Customer service says they don't leak and there is nothing they can do. Some kind of scam I'm pulling, buy 5 water bottles and request an exchange for a product that doesn't leak every time I let the bottle sit for a while. AVOID THIS PRODUCT! If you do want this product, I've got 5 used one's that "don't leak" I'll give you.
This bottle feels light, and looks pretty sleek. I like the lid design, and wish I could order an extra lid to put on a Clip & Carry Recon bottle as I'd now rather have two twist-tops for daily use at home or work. If I were expecting a rainy or dusty hike I would prefer the Clip & Carry. I think I drink more water when this bottle is within reach - it's an appealing design.
This is the bottle I have been looking for. I'm pretty fussy with the bottles I take hunting with me.Criteria is it must hold 1L, small diameter to fit in pack side pocket, and not wide mouth.I have been using a similar Macpac one but it would leak when I put hydrations tablets in it and soak by back and pack.This on has been awesome, no leaks and the mouth piece lets out the perfect amount on liquid.Highly recommended by me
The cap is the unique feature of this bottle. It functions well, requiring a quarter turn to open or close. The design is nicely uncluttered.Turning the cap, which is very smooth, requires a firm grip and a bit of force.There is a bar, located on the base of the handle, to indicate when the top is unscrewed the optimal amount for drinking. The location of the bar is set by twisting the handle.The handle has rounded edges, which help with comfort. Even so, the edges eventually can be felt.A definite plus is that caps designed to fit Camelbak or Nalgene bottles are fully compatible.
This is supposed to be the smartwater bottle killer and I would agree. It is well made and is light-ish. It has an easy to use twist cap that is wide mouth, so it won’t fit a standard filter size cap. There is a plastic gasket that is removable so it can be cleaned and provides a leak proof seal. This gasket does feel a little flimsy so we’ll see how long it lasts. I like that there is no weird plastic taste. The downside is that it weighs more than a smartwater bottle but then again, I can put up with a few more grams for mother earth. The 1L weighs 189g, an extra 150g which won’t feel like much in the grand scheme of things unless you’re gram obsessed.
