Overall:I bought this as the finish was striking. I had to see how well a guitar at this price point would perform. It arrived safely and everything was in working order. It required very little setup out of the box, I really only set intonation as the neck relief and action were completely fine for how I like a guitar to play. It is a great looking guitar, no doubt about that, but I must also say the neck feels great on it. If you want the super thin wizard neck, this isn't it, but it's a very comfortable player, similar to the feel of a slim taper. It's certainly not a thick neck. The frets feel ok, they could use a polish but they were not bad at all. I actually don't have any dead notes on it, which surprised me. The ends are dressed nicely and nothing feels ... MoreOverall:I bought this as the finish was striking. I had to see how well a guitar at this price point would perform. I prefer fixed bridges so I was glad to see this for a really low price. It doesn't feel cheap at all, the neck and board are fast and playable. It is a really flat radius board, but that's Ibanez. I strung it up with 10-46 DR Veritas strings and it plays quite well. I did do an initial conditioning of the board as I often do on new guitars. The pickups in this aren't going to impress a lot of people, but they work and are usable for as long as you want to. I will likely swap them out in time, but I'm having fun with it as is for now. The switching works well, the tuners work well. The tuners are smooth and held pitch after a couple hours of playing. They can be upgraded but it's not an urgent issue. What I wanted was a fun, reverse headstock RG guitar and this does that quite well. I can say I have no reservations about saying give it a try.

Prices have been going up on all guitars. If you can find one on sale - go for it. The Geo guitars are aimed at beginners, but these are professionally playing guitars. Necks that rival greater higher end guitars. The pickups are not so good. Most owners are upgrading if they decide to keep the guitar. I am blown away by the necks on both my Gio guitars. The body is Okoume which is African type mahogany and it sounds the same as mahogany. Burl wood top. Fingerboard is purpleheart wood - very dense and good for sustain. No complaints there. Maple back of neck. Decent tuners. Shark fin inlays. What's not to like? Gorgeous and inspiring guitar!

I’ve just upgraded from a super cheap guitar as my playing has progressed.from the moment I opened and held this guitar for the first time, the quality and workmanship was instantly visible.I’m no guitar expert, but I can’t fault this guitar and I feel it has made my playing better. The colours and finish are outstanding - it really does look as good as the pictures on the website. All the knobs and fixings are high quality and work with ease.Overall this is an outstanding guitar and I’d highly recommend it for any level of player. Thanks PMT for excellent service!!!!

I bought this on a whim for Cyber Monday. I mainly play PRS but used to have an Ibanez and wanted to try them again so I pulled the trigger on this one. Out of the box it looks beautiful and was setup well enough for a beginner to not know the difference. I did have to do a few small tweaks but that was mainly personal preference. It makes an impressive first impression. The fit and finish is great. Looks like a premium guitar. A closer inspection does show where the lower price point comes into play though. The plastic binding on the neck had a few rough spots and the fret ends also had some sharp edges. The back of the neck also had two small rough spots. I was able to fix that in less than 30 seconds with a soft 220 grit sanding block. Now the neck feels great. ... MoreI bought this on a whim for Cyber Monday. I was able to fix that in less than 30 seconds with a soft 220 grit sanding block. Now the neck feels great. I wish they took the time to do that at the factory considering how quickly I fixed it. I know a factory may not want to add 30 seconds to each guitars production but the difference it made was night and day in terms of the playing experience. The frets are fairly smooth but not polished. You can feel a slightly unfinished surface when bending strings. Something a little steel wool can fix in little to no time when I go to change the strings. Which, by the way, is needed. The strings that come on it do not feel great. The pickups sound fine for the price point and will be more than enough for someone learning and playing in their room or jamming with a friend. Clean tones are clear, but add some distortion and it's a tad muddy but not too bad.Overall for the price I feel I got more than I expected. I know I spent more time talking about a few flaws but overall they are minor and super easy to fix. This guitar feels at home competing with guitars in the 500 price range, not the 250-300 one it currently resides in. I'd feel confident recommending this to a beginner or even a more experience player looking to get something new for their collection. Just know going in that a few minor tweaks need to be made to improve the playing experience to where it should have been out of the box.
This is my metal playing rig, cheap, shreddy, passive pickups but lots of em, looks great (reminds me of looking through the shallow ocean water). For upgrades I am looking at trying Hipshot for tuners/bridge stuff however it's completely playable out of the box. Not heavy. Good ergonomics.
I can't believe it is this cheap as it looks amazing and sounds great. Since receiving it I have played many 'virtuosic' songs on it and it handles then just fine and shines on the fast stuff. The delivery was a lot faster than expected and I was surprised when it turned up the day after I ordered it with a great packaging job.
Extremely impressed by this low (price point) model. First of all, the pickups are very nice, the tone they produce is very much what you should except from most high-end Ibanez guitars. Great sustain and resonance. With a sound that's honestly more natural clean than dirty. The pickups are set quite closely together. If you are used to Gibson or Epiphone guitars, it could feel a little foreign. The action out of the box is VERY impressive. Slight fret buzz on the low E and A; however nothing that will be picked up when amplified. Honestly if you are between the extra 30-80$ from an Epiphone or Yamaha budget guitar. Do yourself a favor and get this. This is more than a pretty face.
This Guitar is Incredible for the price I've paid more and not been as excited about a guitarFirst off it's Absolutely Gorgeous the color is beautiful it has 24 frets that are easy to access. 5 position switch gives you the tones your looking for. The pickups are killer they have the bite you need and the beautiful clean tone too. Right out of the box I didn't need to really do much .. it holds it's tune though the tuners aren't the best but they work it's got a reverse headstock that surprised me I'm not used to that but it works ..And Shark tooth inlays on the frets . It feels good might lower the action a little but it's nice also has nice sustain . But it before the price goes up
It seems that the people at Ibanez Gio in China are making a genuine, honest go at beating Ibanez in Indonesia and Japan....since their fretwork and attention to detail are truly superior to "mid-priced" Ibanez guitars and even some of the more expensive "Premium" and "Prestige" Ibanez models. I own 14 Ibanez guitars of various models/quality lines and the "mid-priced" Ibanez models ALWAYS need fretwork done to them if you want to keep the skin on your fingers. I have never once needed to do any fretwork on any of my Ibanez Gio guitars.Sure, the top on this guitar is a veneer, but it's beautiful and you won't care that it's veneer when you pick up this guitar and play it.Great fretboard, with good pickups and hardware that feel awesome to play and a beautiful ... MoreIt seems that the people at Ibanez Gio in China are making a genuine, honest go at beating Ibanez in Indonesia and Japan....since their fretwork and attention to detail are truly superior to "mid-priced" Ibanez guitars and even some of the more expensive "Premium" and "Prestige" Ibanez models. Overall:This is a great looking axe. It sounds ok. The pickups are terrible(ibz-6) Ibanez for the most part always packs bad pickups in their guitars. Even the high end ones. I will be replacing them with duncans or dimarzios. The neck is a bit thick for and ibanez if youre used to playing ibanez. i bought a grx20z a few years back to take out and throw around as a beater, It was only 149 at the time and the pickups (ibz/infinity) are much better. Thinner neck. By the time you throw better pickups in this youll have close to 400 into it. just an opinion
