This guitar is pretty damn awesome for the price. My father had this exact RG but with 7 strings and a mahogany body. The wizard neck convinced me I needed my own so i went for this finish with ash wood. The guitar sounds great even with stock pickups and has a very warm sound perfect for classic rock but really sounds good with most genres. The ash wood makes it maybe 3 times heavier than my dads but with that weight comes sustain and a very sturdy feeling build quality. The Guitar itself is definitely a looker and it stunning in person (the pictures don't do it justice). I would rate it a 5 star product for the price but the one i received is much greener than the picture. I'm mostly OK with this because i still think it looks amazing but is definitely something ... Factory setup and intonation were spot on. Finish is beautiful. Photos don't do it justice. Fret work is very well done, no sprout at all. Cleans up well, and sounds great with overdrive and distortion. Tuners are smooth and this thing stays in tune. Just an overall solid instrument for both beginners and seasoned players alike.

Took this model and the Ibanez RG Prestige RG652AHMFX for test rides. I ended up keeping this one. The Prestige is a better instrument, but not nine bills better. They play very similarly. The DiMarzios in the Prestige sound better, sure-but you can add those to this one later if you'd like. Honestly, I'll probably just keep the Quantum pickups in it-they sound fine. Love the creative 5-way switching and the volume and tone work as they should. Tuning stability is spot on. Mine even came set up well. The wood is not the cosmetic grade that the more expensive models have, but I bought it to play in bars and small venues-not to look at it. The body is three pieces. That being said, it's more attractive than an affordable guitar has a right to be. The ash does make it ... MoreTook this model and the Ibanez RG Prestige RG652AHMFX for test rides. I'd recommend it to anyone that's not a cork sniffer and needs a solid instrument they can use without fear of breathing on it.

This guitar is beautiful and its sound is fantastic, neck is awesome and fretboard is great, pickups are good...but it is Very Heavy,I'd say around 10 pounds and also the body is too chunky and therefore not comfortable to play.Maybe this guitar will be good fit for a large player.I returned it today and got me another Ibanez.Guitar center were very helpful, they are alright!
Overall:I had a friend buy this for me to do some tracks, because my Ibanez Prestige and Charvel were in pawn at the time. Upon arrival it played well - everyone has their own idea of how action should be...it was well intonated right out of the box. I realize that when a guitar ships in cold weather that there will be an adjustment period. I waited a couple days before I adjusted the bridge and truss rod. After three weeks this guitar is magic. Plays as well as my $1200 prestige. The pickups are good, not Dimarzios but they sound good. This is a worthwhile guitar, and its also beautiful for an Indonesian incarnation.
Overall:OK first off very nice Guitar everything the other reviewers say is true . I may upgrade the Bridge pickup because I'm a EMG 81 FAN the stock pup is very good though !! Now for the 1 bad but not really BAD . Its a Green moon Burst a little Blue on the edges turns into a Green color as you move towards the center of the Guitar ? Its mentioned in another review . So unless you just hate green its not a problem . Im disappointed but not enough to send it back & Blue is my favorite color . The varnishing is great and you can see the wood grain underneath . Setup was spot on , frets could be a bit smoother but I can fix that easily . Oh and its not light its got some weight to it which may surprise some who buy Sub $1,000 dollar Guitars . Gives it killer Sustain ... MoreOverall:OK first off very nice Guitar everything the other reviewers say is true . I had been looking at this exact model for some months and Scan had by far the best price. It’s my first Ibanez and I’m not disappointed. It’s a beautiful guitar, with a great tone and easy playing action. It arrived really well packaged and had been set up before dispatch and was playable straight from the box. All in all, a great purchase.
Really impressed with the overall quality of this inexpensive guitar. The body/finish is excellent. The Neck is great - no sharp fret ends, no buzz and came with low action. Tuned it and started playing. I love it. Easily as good if not better than a $700-$800 guitar in terms of quality. Was concerned when it arrived in its box by itself, but the folks at Spotlight packaged it securely in bubble wrap inside the box. Great purchase.
Quality guitar at a reasonable price. Decent pickups that cover rock, blues, metal and cleans. Stunning aqua colour with a smooth maple neck. Thin quick neck that has a back that doesn’t get sticky when playing for a while. Stayed in tune due to the way the strings run straight onto the tuners on the head stock. Good guitar for beginners and has a touch of quality about it.
The Quantum pickups sound great for Ibanez. Proper shielding throughout the guitar keeps all settings quiet. Mine has a one piece ash body and the guitar is a bit heavy. I don't know why Ibanez put an all maple neck on a guitar with a bright ash body. I got the guitar at a discount because the neck was bad. I replaced the neck with an Ibanez style spec neck with mahogany fretboard which warmed up the tones. You're not going to get mahogany body tones with this model. I like that it has some interesting bright tones and it's just a matter of adjusting your amp to thicken the tones. Prices have gone up, so find one on sale.
