Ibanez SR300EB WK Electric Bass - Weathered Black

Mint bass to play. After having cubital tunnel surgery my left hand was somewhat weakened, therefore by Fender Precision became quite arduous to play.Looking for a lighter and smoother play I opted for the sr330e. So glad that I did....my playing has returned to pre op standard. And they sound amazing

I actually have quite a lot to say lol.First off for 350 bucks, its out performing a slew of basses in low price, mid, and custom range territory. Background: I've owned or used extensively Dignwalls, Music Man, Fenders etc.Where did my search start looking for a bang for the buck bass? It began mainly with tracking DI signal straight to interface for home studio purposes.For software I use Neural DSP or Native Helix Darkglass emulations. I never could get these plugins to respond great for bass like you would hear on most clips. (Metal Enthusiast Tone lol) I would usually get a HUGE spike of about 6-12db of 200-400hz and everything else lacking. It came in the mail today and I opened the box to not only being perfectly in tune, but super low action and fast play-ability;excellent intonation.When I plugged it in, I wasn't quite happy yet.. Then I realized from the factory all the knobs are set to 100% full bass mids treb at max. So i reset all the controls at unity 0db and loaded up all the presets that gave me a huge headache to put this thing through its paces.For this it was Helix Native with a Comp, Darkglass (obsidian drive) Ampeg stack and a Ownhammer Cab response. I bypassed everything but the cab and head and noticed a clarity and chime very piano like. This is a good start. Kicked on the Comp to gain that control and sustain then Activated the Darkglass. Boom, there it was! Played with the eq some and I came up with about 5 to 10 snapshots of very useful bass tones in about 30 minutes. Im not going to say this thing is better than a Dingwall but I would call this a Benchmark bass. Any bass I play that cost more than this has alot to measure up to. I gave up on Ibanez for awhile, Ive owned several Prestige guitars as well and kinda lost faith for awhile. But I can tell you every bass player should have at least one of these in your arsenal. Also thank you AMS for having this in stock and great service. A lot of retailers are running out of these.

After a week...

Sound:This thing sounds amazing! It can also sound like crap and everything in between. If you can't find several tones you like with this bass your just not trying. Love the way I can go from growly deep tone to super bright without switching guitars, or having to change my amp settings.Features:My only complaint as far as features is not having an active bypass switch (took away a half star for that) The active eq, the pickups, the hardware, the way the frets are... this bass has a features that most in this price range don't, it's well thought out and well executed. To say I was surprised to see a counter sunk hi mass bridge in $350 bass is an understatement, but it's details like this that make it such a treat.Ease of Use:Super playable, super adjustable, ... MoreSound:This thing sounds amazing! However you will quickly learn to make small adjustments when your messing with the eq trying to find your sound. A little movement on the knob makes a big difference...Quality:My only issue, is the small gap between the neck and body. Took off a half star for that, and again it is small and doesn't seem to be an issue. I do have another concern with how the neck itself appears to be rotated slightly back, however everything lines up so it could just be how they are made. I'll be comparing it to others soon enough.Value:This is an amazing value at this price point, I was originally shopping for a much more expensive bass, however this one had everything I was looking for except it had it at 1/3 to 1/2 of the cost.Manufacturer Support:No experience with them.The Wow Factor:Ibanez really knocked it out of the park with this one, proving that a great instrument doesn't have to be expensive. Yes, there is the minor gap at the neck pocket, but they got so much right with this bass, I can overlook it. If your in the market for a new bass give these a look, you'll end up buying one too...Overall:So far I'm thoroughly impressed... love the wide range of tones I can get out this bass. The neck feels amazing, so easy to get around, makes my Fender Jazz neck feel bulky. I have noticed a minor gap on the treble side of the neck pocket, but doesn't seem to causing any issues with the sustain or neck movement. I will recommend going to a local guitar shop to see the different colors on person. Once I saw the Charred Champagne burst in person I was sold, the pictures make the colors clash which the don't do in person.

Awesome bass for modern rock and metal

Fantastic tone, ideal for modern rock and metal and lower tunings.This bass has a lovely thin neck that's super fast to play and features an active preamp.My favourite feature is the PowerTap switch, which changes the sound and tone of the pickups dramatically.And the Weathered Black wood grain and matte finish is sooo goth! 👌👌

Excellent Playability

I stumbled across the new Ibanez SR300 a friend had. I'm not really a big fan of Ibanez but this thing sounded and felt great. I was impressed by the feel of the 5 peace neck, it's so slim and fast, tonal possibilities with the EQ and it's lightweight. A very balanced bass with a thin body. I've owned many big name basses over the years and I would say that you can't go wrong with the SR300. The paint job on this bass it light non gloss you can see and feel all the wood grain through it an with the black hardware.The Ibanez SR300 does feel like a beginners bass at $349.00, it appears and feels a lot like a high dollars bass, with the active electronics and tonality are incredible for any genre of music, bass feels solid, this Ibanez in the hands of a beginner would be like having one high range bass, very good bass for practice and very good to play live small gigs because of its playability and sound.For this price, this is the best bass on this website! I am in absolute love with this thing! Its poppy enough for funk but yet it can still hit all the low notes too. The pickups are great and the ability to change the tone any way you choose is ridiculous. There is Treble Cut, Bass Cut, Pickup Balancer, and Slap/Finger... the possibilities are endless! This bass should cost at least three times more. Enjoy!!!

Great quality instrument

Good bass, especially for the money.Sound is fantastic with the active electronics, particularly the really low end and that’s even without using the additional EQ.Finish is quality. No sharp frets on delivery. Needed a small adjustment of intonation which is to be expected, but the guide explained really well how to do this.Need to remember to unplug when not in use so that the battery lasts.Wouldn’t change my choice of bass - at least not without spending a great deal more.Thanks to Nottingham store for their time and expertise - especially Ollie 🙂

I had to get one for myself!

Sound:I was impressed by the sounds I could get from this little beast. I'm a pretty heavy handed finger style player (I've always had a heavy attack), but I could hear the differences every time I alternated pickups, adjusted the EQ, and flipped the "Power Tap" switch. This thing offers a lot of sound for very little money!Features:As stated, the thin fast neck of this bass is amazing. I have smaller than average sized hands, so the slimmer design is really comfortable for me. The PowerSpan dual coil pickups are really decent sounding for what they are. The "Power Tap" switch is what sold me on it. After some knob twiddling, trial and error, I found a really nice warm, but heavy sound that I enjoy. I guess there's a reason I keep coming back to Ibanez basses.Value:The Ibanez SR300E is considered by most to be a beginner bass. I get that. Yet, for the price, you will be hard pressed to find something with better quality and features. If you are new to bass, or need a backup for your regular player, I would highly recommend the SR300E. I see it becoming my regular player because of it's features and sound. And hey... If something were to ever happen to it at a gig in one of those "seedy" venues, I could easily replace it and not be too upset about the price.Manufacturer Support:I've never had to deal with Ibanez directly, but I have dealt with zZounds a few times and their customer service is wonderful! Friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. Those are the things that make me a repeat offender to this site!The Wow Factor:This bass is a lot of bang for the buck! I love the look of the black hardware on the weathered black finish. When my girlfriend gave me the "Oh no. Did you buy another bass?" look - even she had to admit the weathered black finish was sexy looking. Ha!Overall:I originally bought an Ibanez SR300E Iron Pewter as a gift for a member of my family who took an interest in playing the bass. When it arrived I took it out of the box to tune it and give the action a little tweaking. Of course, being a bass player myself, I had to give it a try to see how well it played. I was in shock and awe by how well it played and sounded. The neck was extremely comfortable; very thin and fast! It felt like this thing could play itself. After playing it for a few days, (and a few times since), I was so amazed by it that I had to come back to order one for myself (Weathered black - that black hardware on black bass just looks so good).

Ibanez 300 Bass

Overall:This bass is great! The different tones that you can get out of it, is amazing. I've always been an Ibanez fan because of their thin fast necks. This bass really has a lot going for it, especially in this price range. Wish the setup was better and it needs a new set of strings but I can do that myself so it's not a problem. The bass is light and balanced. I haven't had a chance to play around with it too much since I just got it a couple of days ago. I do want to say that zZounds program - play as you pay really helps people like me get the gear they want but pay for it over time, I appreciate that.

Ordered this bass based on

Ordered this bass based on other reviews I've read. I'm only been learning for a few year so thought it was time to get something at a reasonable price that I could grow into. Astheticly the body is lovely with the grain showing ( as its not a smooth varnish finish) the sound and tone is awesome, plenty of variation depending on the sound your after. All in all its awesome!! Delivery was great, ordered before 1300 and was delivered the next morning. All the process in a nutshell was second to none!!

Solid Bass Guitar

The description for this bass says "Great beginners instrument". I feel it is a quality instrument and sounds great recorded. If you're looking at a great sounding affordable instrument, I highly suggest Ibanez Sound Gear. I personally prefer a passive instrument but the active pickups on this bass sound awesome. A Fender J-bass or P-bass is just a luxury. A Spector, Warwick or Gibson are pure luxury instruments. You need a workhorse like a Ibanez.
