I've been buying the Samla containers/lids for years! While these storage containers do not have clasp/locking lids do not fret nor be swayed from incorporating them into your storage arsenal! As sturdy as an 1800's coal miner and as reliable as Nonna's Sunday sauce. Lightweight, stackable within and on top of each other, the clearness helps to easily identify what your lack of object permance cannot! These Samla lids are designed to keep your items pest free!! Sleep well, my friends, knowing that your valuables (such as my vinyl collection, beauty products and legal docs) are safe from the sly infiltration of roach/ant/gross things and all that goes bump in the night. You're welcome.

IKEA is yet more proof that great design enhances human existence. IKEA isn't about rampant materialism but about minimising that materialism through better design to tame clutter. Brilliant. All good . . . now can someone please show how to get to the the carpark? (Laughter emoji).

The quality is good and sturdy. And they can be stapled. But they are far too expensive!!A lid that cost $1 a year ago, now costs $4 !!IKEA, seriously??And this is just ONE example!MOST products have gone up tremendously. This can not be explained by higher transportation costs or supply chain issues…!No, this unfortunately is not my preferred store to go anymore.

I tested a few pieces at the store to make sure the sticker peeled away cleanly, and they did.But when I got home only 6 of my 24 boxes had the stickers that released cleanly, the others leave thick, gummy residue behind that's impossible to remove cleanly. I attempted removal with Goo-Gone, WD-40, and olive oil. After about 5 minutes of rubbing with my finger and a soft cotton cloth, the residue came off, but all 3 products fogged the plastic, making the boxes unsightly instead of clean and clear as shown in the photos. Plus with 5 minutes per lid and per box, that will add EIGHT HOURS to my organization project.I guess IKEA is more much more concerned about customers that steal than customers that buy.
I cannot remember how many SAMLA boxes I have bought. When it comes to organization, SAMLA is always the #1 choice in my mind. I have various sizes of them. The quality is good, as sturdy as always. I love that it is transparent so I can instantly see what I need in the pile of stacking-up boxes. I would always recommend this product, to anyone who's looking to create a consistent organizational storage system.
In the last few years the quality of the covers was poor but has improved so it will not fall off. It was easily broken but I haven’t had the new design break since. I have lots of 12gal and a few 17gal. The price of 12gal has increased to almost double. I further increase will prevent future purchases as it will not be competitive. It used to come in a few colors that was very useful in finding contents out of a few hundred but they were discontinued. I wish the tops came in colors as their increase in 100%
Pros: Inexpensive and sturdy.Cons: Bottom isn’t smooth for easy sliding especially on wire shelving, and lids not secure.Bins that I bought several years ago had lids that just rest on top, which I didn’t like. If the bin is on a shelf high above your head, the lids can fall off onto you as you’re bringing the bin down. Dangerous if you’re up on a ladder. About nine months ago I noticed the lids were now clicking in place, so I assumed all lids going forward would be this new improved style.Unfortunately, the lids I bought two weeks ago are the old-style that do not click in place they simply sit on top of the bin.I would’ve returned them, but I had already removed all of the labels. I use Ikea's storage boxes because, when they're empty, the nest together in a stack and do not take up much room. Also, when the lid is on the box, they stack ── also a space-saver. I like the fact that they are clear because I can see what's in them. I use these in the garage. I like the fact that the lids DO NOT have an airtight seal. I've used other brands that have a tight seal on the lids and have experienced condensation. I never get any interior condensation with the Ikea boxes ── a plus! The trade-off with these lids; however, is that if you place the boxes in the back of your pick up truck, you can't expect the lid to stay on ── you'll need to tape it to the box. The boxes are very transparent when they are new; but, over time they become slightly opaque especially if exposed to UV. But, the opacity is very gradual and only slight. I have boxes that have been on the shelf for ten years and I can still see thru them just fine. I have used several different brands of storage boxes over the years, and still do concurrently. In my opinion, Ikea has the best thing going.
This is not just a container. this is more than just a container. this will become an essential part your organizing life. every since I got this box, I could neatly store all my archived papers. I do archiver my documents every year and store them in the closet. but using this container I was able to move the archived documents out of the closet, store them in this container and move them to my locker room. this allows me to gain more space in my closet. volia!totally recommend it. the size is very good to store 4-5 standard letter size binders. my binders have about 200 pages each.
I love Samla storage containers - they are sturdy and I love that you can see what's inside. I've had some of these containers for a decade or more and they are still strong as ever. They are designed to last a long time.At some point they change the lid design to have a little tab on the underside of the lid to keep it in place (before it used to be actual clips). Although I thought the clips kept the lid on more securely, they were either always out of stock or they were easy to lose.
