It is great flat matt paper for darkroom. I use it with the ilford filters to get different contrasts result. It is a little difficult to get flat after the darkroom chemicals procesess, but the finish and black quality of the pictures are great. My favorite paper.
Ilford has been making photographic paper for long time, this is an RC paper with means that it is a back that is resin coated so its not a true paper, its more like plastic. But to learn how to print this is fantastic. Once a person learns how to make good prints, it can move to the better fiber base paper. This is the paper that is used for printing by very good photographers.
B&H Photo & Video is essential as a photography major. Finding reasonable prices on cameras and supplies to be able to get my work done (printing, developing, etc.) was often a challenge, but now it's merely a minor task. My supplies are always cheap, and arrive very soon after the order. I'm a better, more prepared student because of this company. Thank you!
I love the dark rich blacks I can get with this paper.
Difficult but highly rewarding paper
Nine times out of ten I prefer to work with matte papers. However, not for darkroom. Bought this because it had great reviews from others and I generally prefer matte surfaces. I've only printed with it a few times so far but it doesn't produce sharp detail and dries extremely dull. For darkroom printing I'd stick to glossy. Might be cool for photograms or printing some still life negatives but just stick to glossy.
I use this variable contrast paper for negatives of mine that may not be perfect exposure. I also use it for tinting or coloring with squab, pencil, oil stick, transparent oils. It is highly resistant to reworking the surface.
I use this product for school, and the delivery time was great. I accidentally purchased RC paper instead of Fiber, and since they knew about I guess they made the delivery even quicker, that or they're just very fast without me talking to them.
